The 1st batter of the game has an OPS+ of 45........................... OPS+ for leadoff is 67. I think they have a high OPS in the first inning because of who hits 2-4.

Could DD have made the trade with just 3 players instead of 4? Probably. Did it come back and bite us? Nope. So as I said before, maybe a mild overpay but it all worked itself out.

Devlin Granberg is having a nice season for a guy outside the top 60 on SoxProspects (for now). He has an overall 1.024 OPS between Greenville and Portland. OPS after being promoted is currently at 864 (higher than Tristan Casas). Not a lot of upside for Devlin, but could be a 4th OFer or bench bat if everything breaks right for him.

31% k rate in AAA isn't great... FWIW, Duran is starting to catch up to him OPS wise. Duran is at 1.015 with Cordero cooling down to 1.111. What I would do is call up Cordero and give him 2 weeks to see if he can rebound at all. If he can't, just DFA him off the 40 man roster. At that point, I'd call up Duran.

Ball wasn't taken so high because of his dominant arm. He was taken high because of his athleticism and the Sox felt they could develop him into something. Leiter and Rocker already have the arms to move through the system barring injury. -

Oswalt went on a LOA due to tornados near his home in MS. Somewhere along the way, he hurt his back and after coming back from his leave he was never the same pitcher. -

Javy Guerra - 60 Day IL elbow Logan Allen - ERA/FIP above 9 Margot - 5.8 fWAR since the trade Asuaje - 641 career MLB OPS, has bounced around between KBO and AAA past few years Kimbrel - 6.4 fWAR for BOS Red Sox got the better of the deal. Maybe it was a little bit of an overpay, but it definitely didn't come back to bite them.

He was getting hotter, but going 0-8 with a BB and 7 K really puts a damper on that. It's just not a pretty picture right now.
