    Dalbec is 26, not 23-24. There's not much more room for improvement IMO.

    Once the book got around on Dalbec, he struggled to adjust. The first few weeks of his career are the aberration. His OPS is not good enough for 1B.

    Casas hasn't hit a HR since May.

    Casas' OPS has fallen off recently. If Mayer shows up and has an OPS above 850 in Salem, that should jump him above Casas unless Casas starts to absolutely mash.

    Proximity is why Casas has the edge. Ceiling wise, Mayer is #1 for sure.

    I remember people discussing Schoop in the offseason. He doesn't break the bank.

    Career 687. Has a 518 OPS against this season. His second best is 624. His OPS against is best on the team followed by Ottavino at 574 and Whitlock at 618. Nobody else is under 650. League average is 729.

    @SPChrisHatfield Paul Toboni said (Mayer) will likely get his feet wet in the Florida Complex League this year at first. I'd think he'll get up to Low-A Salem at some point this year. Next year starts in Salem most likely. Slight chance they get aggressive and start him in High-A Greenville. We'll know more about where to slot Mayer after this season, but I still think he'd be behind Casas unless he absolutely mashes in Salem.

    But why should your 1b be the weakest hitter. It just doesn't make sense. It should be the easiest slot to put a bat in. The rotation is what it is for this year. I don't think they are going to trade for anyone. I hope they can figure it out for 2022.

    His career WRC+ is now at 97. His torrid short sample from last year skewed lots of expectations. Whiff% is bottom 1% of the league. His BB% is bottom 6%. He's not making contact and not even showing the batter's eye he once had. He just can't hit fastballs. The only thing that could factor in differently (if at all) is that his expected HR total is much lower than his actual total for 2021.

    I think they should find a LHB with a decent glove at 1B. Worked well for the 04 team.

    I don't remember hearing them going to closer by committee at all this year. It was Barnes' job to lose, but they could go to Ottavino depending on matchups. I'm not sure that's really "closer by committee."

    3.77 ERA for a reliever isn't that great IMO.
