I still contend that the biggest problem is umpires missing the outside part of the plate. To me, that's an equipment issue. If they had the equipment from back in the 80's, they could stand directly behind the catcher and see the outside of the plate. Currently, they set up to the side (do to their reduced equipment) and can't see the outside part of the plate.
And this guy:
@UmpireAuditor
Ted Barrett ended the night with 23 missed calls. In the two games he's covered this season, he's missed a total of 46 calls, the most in the league.
Just fire this guy:
@UmpireAuditor
Yesterday, Umpire Angel Hernandez was responsible for the worst called game of the season so far. He missed 24 calls with a correct call percentage of only 83.2%.
@masnRoch
Trey Mancini knows he's going to get a lot of attention today in home opener, but he hopes fans also acknowledge Eduardo Rodriguez's return to the mound. Missed the 2020 season after testing positive for COVID-19 and subsequently dealt with myocarditis, inflammation of the heart.
Solid dude.
No way can Matt Harvey be productive 2 starts in a row?
Hard hit % of 44 the last time out. Seems like they just were hit right at guys last time out. They should tee off today.
Devers hasn't played ANY games aside from 3b. In 2005, Youkilis spent time in PAWTUCKET playing 1B. Are people suggesting we sent Devers to Worcester to work out at 1B? Or do people want to make this switch at the MLB level? If Devers is going to move off position, it's not going to be in April in Boston. The change would most likely come this offseason.
@alexspeier
Since the start of 2019, there are 18 catchers with 500+ PAs. Vázquez entered today ranked third in fWAR (5.2), behind only Realmuto (7.6) and Grandal (7.2).
I believe Fabian is a high K guy. Sox have enough of those. McLain is a 2B in SS clothing. Sox have enough of those. It will probably be one of the HS SS now that Hill is hurt.
