  1. Jackie Bradley Jr. Jarrod Dyson Brett Gardner Billy Hamilton Kevin Pillar Danny Santana Worst average exit velocity since 2015 (min. 1,000 batted balls): Billy Hamilton (81.5 mph) Dee Strange-Gordon (82.9) Ben Revere (83.1) Jarrod Dyson (83.5) Jose Iglesias (83.9) Ender Inciarte (84.0) Alcides Escobar (84.2) Jose Peraza (84.6) Pillar seems to be the only guy left that makes sense. No way is JBJ coming back.
  2. To me, it just seems that Chavis is redundant with Marwin on the roster. They still need some sort of defensive minded CF, which neither person is.
  3. The only good thing about 2020's season was that it was a break from the pandemic nonsense and a shorter season so the pain was more bearable. I think a .500 season may actually hurt worse this go around. We'll be much more invested in the season anyway.
  4. There's no reason to have been very familiar as they all have been mediocre. What these moves do is increase the floor of this team. They won't pick 4th next year. They'll probably wind up with 78-86 wins no matter how this team performs. There is an outside chance that EVERYTHING breaks right and the Sox get to about 92 wins (MVP year from Devers, return to form for JD, starting pitching holds up and performs at peak level, etc.).
  5. Now we're throwing her under the bus? This is the darkest timeline.
  6. Even with the Marwin signing?
  7. I don't think he'll be very good, but he'll be better than Peraza.
  8. Anyway, does the signing of Marwin mean that Chavis is 100% going to WOO?
  9. I'm going to drink a six pack tonight, put Willie Nelson on and re-read this thread.
  10. “Toolsy”
  11. Leg injury because it’d take away his athleticism. Soft tissue as they seem to me more likely to be recurring than broken wrists.
  12. Pedroia will have all the time in the world to play with his smart watch.
  13. I’d be more concerned about soft tissue injury or a substantial injury to his legs.
  14. 18-19 was the same elbow injury. He had surgery and got it fixed. 2020 he broke his wrist.
  15. Yes, I've think I've turned to the darkside where Kiké should be the CF. I think they can piece together 2b. It's never hard to find a AAAA guy to just throw at that position.
  16. IDK. I still kinda see Cordero as a LF. I know he's good really good wheels, but I heard his route running labeled as "adventurous." To me, he's better as a platoon with Renfroe and have another guy come in as the CF. Hell, maybe they do throw Kiké in CF and have Arroyo/Chavis do a share at 2b?
  17. From an emotional standpoint, JBJ sees that his buddies Betts/Beni/Holt are all gone. May as well just switch teams. He'd have to be paid a premium to come back here.
  18. I'd say using Fenway as a model goes back 30 years with the build of Camden Yards.
  19. It's his right to hold out as long as he can. I hope he earns as much as he can wring out of these greedy owners. I just hope it's not here.
  20. @byJulianMack Good news: no more 7:30 red sox start times. All evening home games will begin at 7:10.
  21. I don't think we're worried about the out of pocket cost, just the lux tax calc.
  22. Maybe someday they'll tear that dump down too.
  23. I bet he is already holding onto a 2-3 year deal, but he doesn't like the amount. He was overpaid last year and may expect comparable money.
  24. I'd be ok with them bringing him back because you could slide him over to RF or LF if Duran gets ready, but I don't think it's in their budget. I think JBJ wants a multi year deal, so it would take more dollars for a one year deal to bring him back to the Sox. 1/9? Not sure they'd go over just to bring JBJ back.
  25. Seems like it. @jcmccaffrey Oops, yes. Benintendi's salary is $6.6 million this year, but he'd signed a two-year, $10 million deal ahead of 2020, so the $5 million AAV is what counts toward the payroll this year @ChrisCotillo Correction: Red Sox will pay $2.8 million and the CBT hit on Benintendi is $2.8 million for 2021.
