I think it makes more sense to float Kiké between two positions, but still give him 150 games. He believes he'll be starting at 2b mostly, but that really just leaves huge question marks for the OF.
CFers still available:
Jackie Bradley Jr. CF
Jarrod Dyson CF
Brett Gardner CF / LF
Brian Goodwin CF / LF
Billy Hamilton CF
Jon Jay CF / LF
Jake Marisnick CF
Haruki Nishikawa CF
Kevin Pillar CF / RF
Danny Santana CF / 1B
Only guys still available are Logan Forsythe, Marwin Gonzalez, Kipnis, Jed Lowrie and Addison Russell. Seems like they aren't going to sign anyone else.
They need a $60M floor first and foremost. I'm not super worried about the luxury tax, but it should probably go away as it is artificially deflating salaries.
Andriese is one of the better options in the pen IMO. Who of value would it force out? Who does keeping Whitlock force out?
We're not talking about some behemoth of a roster. Losing some of the lower end guys won't meaningfully impact this season.
I mean, if he can shotput a ball the way a boy on my daughter's tball team does, that'd be something... Maybe they'll end every regular season game with a relay race against the other team?
This team is a total yawn. Bloom should be fired. I'm no longer going to be a fan unless they can sign NOMAR MAZARA.
I firmly believe that this player with less than 2 career fWAR in 579 games is going to make this team not be a yawn. That 90 WRC+ is going to be a ratings boon for NESN. His meager HR totals, bad baserunning and bad fielding are going to make this such an exciting team. He's the guy for sure.
If Seabold and Mata are both pitching, it means their development has been pretty damn good this year. Bloom has shown a willingness to go with AAAA guys for an extended period of time. He's not going to rush someone like Mata.
Also, he's spent over 100 days on the IL/DL since coming here in 2018.
He's hit the 60 day IL/DL every year since 2016 except for last year's truncated season.
Taylor was impacted by COVID. It was also a very small sample size with control issues and abnormal HR/FB and LOB rates.
However, he has options and doesn't have a long track record of success at the MLB level.
Having him start in WOO for a month isn't the end of the world. These things always sort themselves out. Someone is going to greatly underperform. Someone else is going to get injured. I'd say it's more important to look at your top 16 guys rather than worry about the 13 guy cutoff.
