    FWIW, Owen Hull has a similar profile to Roman Anthony (high bb rate/passive, high ground ball rate/bad launch angle, good ev's/hits the ball hard).

    Roman's fielding is fine. His launch angle isn't going to change. He's had a high GB rate going back to Low A Salem. It's why he's a 25-30 HR guy, not a 40+ HR guy.

    The thing about hype and expectations are that it can only be measured by what you in particular perceive. Andrew Benintendi was also a #1 prospect in MiLB at one point and had a ton of hype surrounding him.

    Huh? Where'd you pull this stat from? Rice MiLB: '71 60 G, '72 130 G, '73 129 G, '74 117 G Rice alone had more PA's (1604) than Roman did before debuting.

    They have a tendency to overrate toolsy DSL bats (Jimenez, Bleis, A. Flores, Cespedes, Soto). Those guys end up seeing their stock go on a rollercoaster rather than just slowly building up over time. Compare that to Justin Gonzalez who they didn't even put in the top 10 until he was already mashing in Salem. Yeah, that's probably how long you should wait!

    I would eat a lot of his contract and send him elsewhere, but I think the Sox are going to hold onto him and just expect to bring Arias up once Story is on the IL in June.

    With his injury history, there's no guarantee that he'd be healthy when you'd need to recall him to BOS.

    He puts the ball in play, doesn't whiff, but is really slow. It's not a tremendously useful profile.

    Suarez is who he is. I don't think throwing more innings at him will fix anything. It could make it worse in the end.

    It also has to do with delivery and pitch mix. I think guys that throw a lot of sliders could be more prone to injury too (deGrom, Sale).

    Yeah, the skillset is there and he should have been converted to a 1b a long time ago. The real issue is the age. His decline could come next year, the year after or who knows when? He's already a guy that breaks down every year, so it's hard to really count on him for a full season. He probably needs to transition to a DH/1B role sooner than later for his health. Not sure how else to keep him ready for October.

    I'm certainly not comfortable with him at 2b. If he's the everyday DH, fine. Need to move on from Masa though. Roman would need a permanent location in the OF, so you'd have a second trade to make too.

    Sure, at 8M per year, you can have a DH/OF that hits 110 wRC+. It's whatever. He's an MLB caliber player, he's just paid like a top tier DH. He shouldn't have been.

    I think there's a big difference between pushing it to 200 IP (Crochet '25) and 150 IP (Tolle/Bennett '26). I'm not super concerned with Tolle and Bennett. Pitching is inherently risky these days, but I don't think their inning counts were worrisome.
