  1. Could have traded him for a DSL flier. Would have been better than nothing.
  2. Yes, the Red Sox have been at the bottom of MLB in errors every year. They can't go backwards with their defense if they are serious about contending going forward.
  3. Tampa did it in '19, '22 and '24. They have had a lot of those UTIL type guys who play multiple positions. They would also rather NOT pay for a DH if they didn't have to. Because of the Chaim connection, people thought the Sox would kinda go that way at some point, but the Masa move took that off the table.
  4. Either get a legit #2 or what's the point in bothering? You're just adding a more expensive guy that isn't providing much upside.
  5. There's the idea that it's better to rotate guys through DH to give everyone a rest. You really need to have the right lineup for the that to work though. I'd rather have a big hitter taking up that spot 150 games a year. David Ortiz JD Martinez Canseco Baylor Cooper
  6. I've been the one guy NOT assuming he starts in Boston. 😐
  7. They don't want MASA as a fulltime DH. If that spot was open, maybe we'd be hearing smoke about a FA addition?
  8. The IF could use some work TBH
  9. The problem with the roster construction is the big Masa hurdle. Until he's out of the equation, it's hard to place another fulltime DH on the roster.
  10. If they sign Alonso, I don't see a reason to keep Casas around except for his cheap contract and options.
  11. He called it out during his Section 10 interview. Needs to work on being able to hit the tough lefties in the division as his defense is needed in RF every night.
  12. Alonso IS much better than Schwarber at defense.
  13. If JH can't get over the David Price contract, even though the Sox make the 3rd most money in MLB year in and year out, he should sell the team.
  14. External 3b options (non-Breggie): Bichette - prob put at 2b and have Mayer at 3b if signed Okamoto - short term option at 3b and better utilized at 1b Suarez - terrible at 3b, unsure about 1b Polanco - a move that satisfies moon, but that's about it Parades trade - max pull AIR guy Arenado trade - well past the prime of his career and isn't a plus defender anymore Bohm trade - average to below on everything he does
  15. Bohm is a bad 3b who doesn't pull the ball. Theoretically, Arenado is a better fit for the Sox if you squint really hard due to the pull AIR %.
  16. You said it: "far from a sure thing." That's why he should probably spend the first few months in WOO rather than OPSing 500 in BOS again.
  17. They are dealing him this offseason or stashing him in AAA. I don't think they are planning on him to be a fulltime contributor.
  18. Mayer or a guy that should retire? Wow, tough choice there!
  19. Hard to see how they get a DH with Masa still on the roster.
  20. That feels like ancient history after his rib issue and now leg issue. 🫠
  21. Months when Casas has had a 860+ OPS: July and August 2023.
  22. Casas may come back, but it may be a much lesser Casas. He's had a significant amount of injuries already and relying him on anything going forward seems foolhardy. Is the idea that Anthony replaces Devers? Weren't they supposed to use the Devers money to bring people in?
  23. The hardest ball he threw all year was 81.1, 86th of 94 (guys with 2b eligibility).
  24. BA/Alex Speier Red Sox top 10: 1. Tolle (SP 1) 2. Arias (2) 3. Early (5) 4. Witherspoon (4) 5. Perales (3) 6. Password (6) 7. Valera (7) 8. Gonzales (9) 9. Fajardo (11) 10. Soto (12) Does not have Clarke or Romero in his top 10.
