  1. I haven't heard the "final boss" part. I won't make you go find a quote. I'll try to listen to him more intently going forward. To me, he's just awkward and unfriendly, but not intentionally rude or smug. Whatever. It doesn't matter. I don't care about his personality. I care that this team is in the toilet because of him.
  2. Delay 166 Innings Thaiss 125 Innings Gasper 86 Innings Montero 0 Innings
  3. Was Houser being sent to the pen? He had a 2.10 ERA prior to being traded. He also pitched much better down the stretch than May did!
  4. Teams that don't like said pitchers and don't want those pitchers anywhere near the playoffs!
  5. Red Sox may be back to last place before the top of the hour if the O's hold onto their lead.
  6. How many were "offered" the job and declined. Now THAT is moving the goalposts. Might as well call Breslow the 13th candidate. The 12th candidate was the goalpost!

  8. That Matz trade was a good trade. He also wasn't traded for a top 10 prospect. I'm just saying the Dustin May trade wasn't a typical deadline deal, while you contend that it was.
  9. People in Brookline didn't slap him enough growing up. Gen X was too busy drinking water from the hose to do what needed to be done in the 1980's: bully Sam Kennedy.
  10. I would also expect that the researchers would say that Story probably has built more than enough muscle mass to stave off osteoporosis and typical bone loss. These studies don't say that it's the muscles that provide cushion from a fall ("more muscles would mean more padding on impact"). It's the working out that builds strong bones. I'm sure Story has done enough working out per the studies.
  11. You believe anything Sam says? Honestly?
  12. This dude has made bad trades when he's trying to do the RIGHT things. I'm not sure it's going to be worse when he's trying to make the wrong trades. I can't worry about him acting in bad faith two months from now. We're not there yet. John Henry painted himself into a corner by going 4 years with Ben (and a WS), 4 years with DD (and a WS) and 4 years with Bloom (and a completely rebuilt farm system 30th to 1st, which was the main goal). He can't have this job continue to be a turnstile. It's not a car dealership where he can find a general manager off the street. There are only so many people in the world that can do the job and he's running out of willing candidates.
  13. Vientos could be the worst 3b in MLB. Where would he play for BOS? Platoon DH? Is Baty the fulltime 3B?
  14. He won't be the CBO forever, but you're stuck with him for a while.
  15. He was ranked higher than Early! Higher than Valera and Clarke! All the guys around him were top 100 guys or soon to be!
  16. You think a starting pitcher on an expiring deal that is pitching so badly that he's being sent to the pen is worth a top 10 prospect? I don't remember a lot of trades like that!
  17. I don't remember being restless at that point? Sox were coming off the ALCS. The pre-injured Story was signed to a large contract and the collective feedback from RSN was a shrug.
  18. At this point, with him missing substantial time AGAIN this year, I'm going to disagree with the last sentence. Everything he does leads to an injury. It's not a "freak injury" it's just him living with his fragility.
  19. A top prospect for a starting pitcher that was just sent to the bullpen? That's a normal deadline trade?
  20. Sox are very light in the scouting department these days. They are heavily reliant on internal data models for their acquisitions. That change points directly to Craig Breslow. While the Sox are cutting their staffing, the Dodgers, Yankees and Rays are increasing their scouting. Seems to be working out for them. https://www.sportsbusinessjournal.com/Articles/2025/09/22/red-sox-re-examine-scouting-roles-amid-staff-cuts-pay-changes/ There were other stories out there suggesting that the Sox have leaned so far into data and are straight up ignoring scouting. That they are so impossible to deal with that agents steer players elsewhere and other orgs don't like picking up the phone for them. I'm looking for the specific article that ranked all the MLB orgs with quotes, but Google stinks now. 😾
  21. Eddie Matthews was nicknamed the Santa Barbara Bomber. Pablo exploded his belt. They are basically the same player.
