    They have stockpiled enough other SP assets that they could include in a trade for Paredes if they went that route. Would be surprised to see them trade Tolle/Early for anything but a superstar positional player or a TOTR guy.

Considering the cash outlay and lack of options, Sandoval is definitely getting the first crack at the 5th spot in the rotation at the very least. Maybe he flames out? Maybe he's not ready and is phantom IL'd to start the year like we've seen with Bello, Giolito and others recently? I do wonder about the idea of moving Bello in a trade for a #2 rather than Tolle or Early.

    If he's not done, what is there to get worked up about unless this specific trade is a problem. Ignore the idea of a #2, was this trade good or not?

    Did he say he pivoted away from the plan and is now not getting a #2? It's still December 5th. The winter meetings haven't even started yet. He needs to upgrade the whole roster, not just add a #2, a 1b and a 3b.

    Why does every guy that is brought in have to be the #2? The next trade/acquisition doesn't have to be a #2 or cleanup hitter. It's not how the world works.
