I think it's safe to say that it's most likely a bad trade. Unless Binelas really turns things around next season, it's the worst most baffling trade Bloom has made.
For all the IMPACT that Vaz gave the Sox, the Sox only were 17th in fWAR at Catcher.
On an individual basis, there are 18 catchers with higher fWAR than Vaz this season like the immortal Seby Zavala and Nick Fortes.
The most important metric for a catcher is what they do behind the plate. McGuire is much better behind the plate than Vaz is. Just looking at offensive stats really downplays what a catcher brings to the table.
However, I don't believe McGuire is the long term replacement for Vaz.
Wasn't trying to speak negatively of you. You are just the most pro-Bloom poster on here and I have zero problem with it. Most other posters have done their fair share of criticizing.
