  1. DD shouldn't have extended an injured Sale. Chaim shouldn't trade Sale if the expectations are that the Sox are trying to compete in 2023.
  2. It was dumb to limit the return then, it would be stupider to do it now especially when the Sox are well below the lux cap.
  3. His upside is 0.5-1 fWAR? You could say his upside is 2019 Chris Sale which was 3.6 fWAR or about 28.8M.
  4. If the Sox have to take on half of the salary, I'd just take the risk and hold onto Sale. If you trade him, you won't have even an outside shot at a full rotation at this point.
  5. If his bat is good enough, I don't care about his bad d in LF.
  6. I don't believe the Colombian League is a strong winter league, but it's good to see him find success.
  7. Part of the issue is that arms typically take a longer time to develop than bats. We'll see if his guys develop.
  8. If anyone would jump above Romero, I'd bet on a pitcher like Perales, Wikelman or ERC. Even if Walter starts strong in AAA, he's more likely to just get promoted to MLB and lose eligibility than jump above Romero IMO.
  9. My son would have me arrested for animal cruelty.
  10. Well, that wraps up those two storylines.
  11. @ChrisCotillo Eric Hosmer has been released.
  12. @RedSox INF Jeter Downs today was claimed off waivers by the Washington Nationals.
  13. Just more expensive.
  14. My eyes aren't what they used to be either.
  15. It would be more like the Stephen Drew QO fiasco.
  16. 7 days. Downs would be today, Hosmer tomorrow.
  17. I see. Doval has a very high trade value according to BTV.
  18. You have no idea.
  19. @JeffPassan Outfielder Wil Myers and the Cincinnati Reds are in agreement on a one-year, $7.5 million contract, a source tells ESPN. The deal jumps to $9.5 million based on playing time or if he's traded. There's a mutual option for the 2024 season.
  20. The ticket cost is high (in large part due to demand because of the limited seating). They own the Sports Network. The owner has similar net worth to other owners that are signing big contracts (Yankees, Phillies).
  21. I think that price goes down once the season starts. if and only if: 1. That player has never received a qualifying offer previously in his career. 2. That player spent the entire season on that team's roster (in-season acquisitions are ineligible).
  22. Trade Devers for a reliever?
  23. I think going for lower level prospects just because they aren't SS doesn't make sense. So what if the Sox have Mayer? Maybe Mayer doesn't work out? Maybe you move the Giants guy off position? Maybe you deal him to another team?
  24. Valdez and Abreu have a little bit of potential. At the moment, I can't project them to be MLB regulars, but they are more likely to have an impact than Hamilton.
  25. The better bet was building around Betts and Raffy long term anyway.
