  1. There's simply no need to do that if they have decent options waiting to take a rotation spot.It doesn't make sense to mess with both the bullpen and the pitcher just because Mitre or Gaudin aren't above average options. Besides, stretching a pitcher out takes time, so if the reason for the call-up is an injury (and it probably will be) the pitcher who's putting up the best numbers and is more readily available to address the need will be the one getting called up. Under that scenario, whoever of Hughes/Joba is on the bullpen will not be the choice to address the need.
  2. So you're going to take out arguably the best setup man in the league last year, and your answer for it is going to be "Let's see if Robertson and Melancon get the job done." I read, it simply didn't make sense.
  3. And what better options than Hughes/Chamberlain do the Yankees have for the 8th inning role next year?
  4. Two "ifs". And your "pretty sure" sounds pretty unrealistic to me. If they have a guy like Chad Gaudin or Sergio Mitre stretched out and ready to take a rotation spot if needed, why would they realistically go and stretch out a member of their setup corps? That makes absolutely no sense.
  5. Because they'll be able to stretch him out on short notice and weaken the bullpen at the same time?
  6. Getting Orlando Hudson might actually help John Lannan improve. He is a groundball pitcher after all.
  7. That's exactly what i think will happen. I've read speculation about it in a couple articles now.
  8. Of course he'll regress on the road. But the home-stat improvement should beyond a shadow of a doubt be much bigger than the road regression. Petco is quite simply the most extreme pitcher's park in the Majors.
  9. I'm not saying he's better than Tex, but please don't overlook the stats in favor of your arguments.
  10. He's the best player in baseball, and he's going to get paid like it. If the Cards won't pony up, someone else will.
  11. Albert Pujols will become the best paid player in baseball whether the Yankees have a first baseman or not. Stop the subtle trolling.
  12. Trading Kelly doesn't make sense because they are simply unwilling to trade him.
  13. It makes all the sense in the world for Hoyer to hang on to Hoyer to hang on to A-Gon until the TDL when he'll likely have a bidding war for his services.
  14. The problem isn't so much the luxury tax, because considering the fact that Lugo's $9 million and most likely Lowell's $13 million (with the Sox paying around 9 million) are not counted towards the luxury tax threshold because they'll each be on another team's roster. The issue is the budget they had established in the first place didn't account for the extra money Bay is going to make this year, therefore, they're looking to backload the contract, but as i said before, they should worry about the luxury tax, because it will be quite a hit if they fail to deal Lowell ,and quite frankly, it's their money. The Sox are not the Yankees.
  15. The Sox would rather give up Westy, but Kelly has simply been deemed untouchable by Theo himself.
  16. Remember that in this scenario, either Ellsbury stays and gets plenty of AB's as a super-sub, or he gets traded for a far superior bat. And besides, i highly doubt they get Bay/Holliday unless Ellsbury is already in the package for a big bat. and besides, as their value ratings would indicate, Ellsbury is not a better player than Cameron right now, he should be in the near future, but he's not right now.
