  1. Agreed, very efficient. The Blue Jays won 86 games last year and finished 4th in the AL East. Your division is insanely competetive.
  2. Hill has good stuff. His curveball is pretty nasty. But he has zero command.
  3. Come one, let's not overreact too much.
  4. Moving right along... Josh Paul (Remember Pierzynski's dropped third strike in the '05 ALCS?) and Mike Marshall (the hitter) also went to Buffalo Grove High School. I went to school with Tom Zbikowski for 3 years. I actually interviewed him a few times for the school paper as well. He played for Notre Dame and is now on the Baltimore Ravens.
  5. I expected apathy, but not rudeness. It's an innocuous thread. As for generating discussion, maybe other members would like to share MLB alumni from their high schools?
  6. When does it come out again?
  7. I'm getting a slightly obnoxious gloating feeling from this question... I'd be content. This is a team that was 1 game away from getting to the World Series. It really only needed some minor tweaking whereas the Yankees needed a complete overhaul. There are some holes in the squad, to be sure, but make no mistake about it: the 2009 Red Sox will give other teams a run for their money. The core of this team has shown that it has resiliency in spades. Can the same be said of your beloved Yankees?
  8. No, not at the same time. I just thought it was worth noting, and I didn't know where else to post it on here.
  9. Your new first base coach went to my high school. That is all.
  10. The timing of the book could have been better. Can't imagine it's going to lead to good vibes in the Dodgers clubhouse.
  11. Tek should platoon. He's just not that good anymore.
  12. Few exits ever are graceful. When the FO is breathing down your neck and spoiled Yankee fans want your head to roll, you're probably not going to go out on your own terms. Unless Tito decides he wants early retirement, his exit probably won't be graceful either.
  13. Yay, no more Ronny Cedeno. That alone makes this trade worthwhile.
  14. I could actually see Mauer being a lifer for the Twins. He grew up in St. Paul, he's a fan favorite, and based purely on a seminar where I saw him speak he seems like a class act who isn't all about instant gratification. But I suppose for the right price you can get just about anybody.
  15. So would I. The Sox need a serviceable catcher more than they need a work in progress, especially when they have other pitching prospects who could still be studs.
  16. Loath as I am to admit it, barring any significant injuries the starting rotation should be dominant. We'll just have to wait and see how it all pans out.
  17. Except there is no former Red Sox manager who won 4 rings in recent memory... not to mention making it to the WS 6 years out of 12...
  18. I wouldn't view playing in the Minors as a failure at all. You played professional baseball. Not everyone can say that.
  19. I agree that despite Torre's hefty salary, the Yankee FO never gave him the respect he deserved. Publicly and privately. IMO, this is NOT a classless move by Torre. It's simply a man with pride airing his grievances against a franchise with a lot more skeletons in the closet than its fans would like to believe.
  20. Sounds plausible to me. But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed in Biggio. Oh well.
  21. What about Aceves? I haven't really seen him pitch, and he's only had 4 starts, but his numbers look pretty good.
  22. You've got the goods on Biggio? For real? I always liked him...
