  1. Yes, the money would be incentive to do it. And the glory would be incentive to do it. I'm not saying the temptation isn't there because it is. But me personally, I wouldn't do it. I wouldn't be able to look at myself in the mirror. To me, the integrity of the game is far more important than contracts and prestige and sponsors and all that s***. Cheating, in any form, shouldn't be condoned. It should be condemned. Period.
  2. You obviously do give a f***, since you've given it so much thought. That's okay, though. Any baseball purist worth a damn should give a f***. Or fan, for that matter.
  3. A fair point, but it doesn't excuse the players who used. Two wrongs don't make a right. The end doesn't justify the means. Pick a proverb. They both apply. Nothing could be more fundamental. I'm with 700hitter. The fans deserve full disclosure from the Union. Get it all out in the open, and then maybe you can get a clean slate. Protecting players now will only add fuel to the fire when more light is shed on the steroid era in the future.
  4. I could see it, too. But the Spurs are an aging team, and I like the Lakers' big 3 over the Spurs' big 3. Kobe is the X-Factor. If he plays well, the Spurs' backs will be against the wall. Is Popovich still sporting the beard? If so, advantage Spurs.
  5. I agree to the extent that as soon as Howard's power drops off his value will be significantly diminished. But I don't see that happening in the next 3 years.
  6. LeBron is the best player in the game, no question about it. But there's enough parity in the NBA to prevent the Cavs from winning it all. The Celtics are still the team to beat in the East, IMO. The Magic are a very good team. But if Nelson opts for season-ending surgery, they're finished for all intents and purposes. The Lakers are looking impressive, after beating the Celtics at home and the Cavs at home. When Bynum comes back, look out. I don't know if they contained LeBron today or if it was just him not being able to finish at the rim. Either way, though, he did not play well. I'm almost 100% sure the Lakers will be back in the championship. Can't say the same for the Cavs because they still have the Celtics to contend with.
  7. He's 29. He hits 45+ HRs a year and drives in 135+ RBIs a year. I'd say he's worth every penny. Before last year, his OBP was very good, too.
  8. That makes no sense. This is an absurd rationalization. Don't be an apologist for cheaters.
  9.
  10. I'm kind of pissed that this is only coming out now. 2003 wasn't exactly yesterday...
  11. I would be very surprised if Frank Thomas cheated.
  12. A-Fraud indeed. Really, when you think about it anyone is fair game for PEDs. Look at Paul Byrd.
  13. Robertson. I'd put The Dream over Shaq. Hakeem was a much, much better defender and could actually make a free throw. Shaq bulldozes his way to the basket whereas Hakeem was graceful. LeBron hasn't shown he can close a game like Jordan could. Personally, I'd want the ball to be in Jordan's hands over LeBron's for the final shot. LeBron will get his rings and his triple doubles, but he'll never win 6. Had Jordan not initially retired, the Bulls would have probably won 8 in a row. LeBron's Cavs were swept in the Finals a few years ago. Put Jordan on that team, and that doesn't happen.
  14. I would also take Cassel over an unproven rookie. A big part of his success was the program he was in and the players surrounding him, but you can't ******** your way through an entire NFL season.
  15. The luster of what?
  16. Solid list, Kilo. I agree with Crespo. LeBron will replace Erving when it's all said and done. Dwyane Wade will wind up on the bottom of the list. Chris Paul has a chance to make it.
  17. So, what's going to happen with Matt Cassel?
  18. In his defense, I'm sure a lot of Sox fans felt the same way at the time.
  19. Now, that's a good explanation. Seems I was wrong.
  20. Enlighten me then, Jacoby. So far all you've done is say that I'm wrong without explaining why. A petulant child could do as much.
  21. Bird is a Hall of Famer and arguably one of the greatest forwards of all time. You don't think they undervalued him? You don't think those five teams dropped the ball with their picks? Those teams may have already had established forwards. Doesn't matter. Bird would have most certainly been an upgrade. You draft based on positional needs. But when you pass up a player like Bird for a player like Robey... you obviously didn't think much of Bird.
  22. All I have to say is people who sign pitchers made of glass (Carl Pavano) shouldn't throw stones...
  23. Don't see it happening.
  24. I wish the Blackhawks faced Boston more often. Love the Original Six matchups.
