I don't think that is financially doable - unless you trade Manny and Lowell takes a HUGE hometown discount - both are unlikely.
By the way - what would you do with Lugo?
World series MVP will certainly get a 3 year deal outside Boston now. It will be hard to keep him - his market just went so high after last night. The Yankees are going to come after him real hard.
If he is not resigned - he will join the players that are always welcomed to Fenway even if he becomes a Yankee. I feel so gracious this morning - I think RSN now should make up wth Damon and not boo him any more when he comes to Boston.
Thanks GOM
The good news for the Yankee fans is the last season is forgotten once the spring training begins. Let the next year be another big year for this rivalary. I hope you guys stay with us in this forum next year along with the sox fans.
The way everyone is saying that it is classless and disrespectful to the Red Sox. Peter Gammons is sportscenter was so mad that he disrespected the Red Sox rookies and blah blah blah. I agree it is classless from A-Rod who certainly has serious ADD problems. I do think that Red Sox fan in general does not look it as an insult - it is an added bonus to them. Even though Red Sox do not get A-Rod - it will be a great addition by substraction for them in the years to come. I would hate to be near a Yankee fan today though.
We discussed it sometime back - and I was trying to tell the Yankee fans that now way he will never be back with them. He hates the Yankess the way fans turned on to him and they are Jeter's team even though Jeter is aweful in the field. When all set and done - he will probably make less money( considering endorsements) that he would have if he stayed as a Yankee. And I think he will be OK with that as long as he gets the recognition as the best player of the team as he should.
I think the cubs are the best destination for him. Lou loves him and after Boston wins twice in 4 years - Cubs will really make a push for the world series. It will be good for A-ROd to get away from AL east pressure also. The Red Sox will be in a tough situation - because the Yankees will go after Lowell with all the money they can throw at him. Oh well - I am not worried about the sox today - just gonna enjoy as much as I can.
Weird - in 2004 - I thought Faulk deserved it more than Manny.
This year - I thought Paps deserved it more.
I love Mikey - but it will be hard to bring him back now. His value is gonna sky-rocket.
Good call by Jackson that Sox wins in 4 - whatever his intentions may be.
Thanks for you guys staying together throughout the post-season. Now you guys can pee, get licked by dog, make the girlfriends happy etc.
I wonder if the humidor effect wears out from 7th innings onwards on the baseball. Rockies have been hitting much better( or Lowell/Kielty) in the later innings.
I understand it is a good conversation but do you guys seriously believe in this mojo crap?
Almost as if whatever we do here will have a direct impact on how the players will play tonight?
I have been a sox fan and watching them regularly since 2000 - so most of you have witnessed while I have only heard about the curse. But 2003 alone was shocking enough for me. I remember the next morning - everyone in the office was quiet - the whole environment was so depressing it felt we are in a funeral. 2004 has changed all that quite a bit.
Some things I always fail to understand about RSN. Grady Little deserves all the blame for game 7 - but noone says anything about Pedro. He should have known that he was done - so when Grady came to talk to him - he should have handed that ball over to the bull pen and enjoyed the game. I think to some part - Pedro's monster ego cost us that game and may be another championship.
Game 2 report cards - I can't agree that both pitchers got same grade!!!

I am not happy that he is injured but Tito planned to pitch him in game 2 and Curt in game 4. We could have lost both those games.
If Lester can pitch well - this might work out well for us.
The whole situation is very odd - I agree to that. But - I never thought the best short-stop in the game will move to third base to begin with.
To me - even today - the best short stop for the NYY's plays on the right side of Derek Jeter.
Has anyone thought about this? Manny leaves after an year and I don't think Lowell and Drew can provide enough protection for Papi.
One of the big reasons I think we need a big bat. I like A-Rod - but if it's not him - we need someone else.
A-Rod situation should be resolved much sooner than Lowell situation. If he does not opt out ( chances are 50% IMO) - we should just make sure that Lowell does not sign elsewhere.
I am not saying that's not true - but how are you so sure? Never heard him say that he won't go back to SS?
I think he can still play SS - and move to outfield or DH as he gets older.
