  1. Paps likes the trade for Santana. I believe all players should keep their mouth shut. I remember Kevin Millar got burnt after saying in ESPN that he prefered A-Rod to Nomar when the trade for A-Rod to Boston appeared imminant. And Paps is way more important in the clubhouse than Millar ever was. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/2007/11/papelbon_likes.html
  2. After signing Posada and Mo - Cashman is on target with his mission of 'let's get young'. I was shocked that he did not give another chance to Mark Belhorne.
  3. I was more worried for a left handed power pitcher with a green monster and Fenway left field. Sorry should have made it clear.
  4. I think Red Sox are still missing one big bat - specially if Manny leaves. Do you guys remember how much we wanted Dye at trade deadline to fill the void? I was hoping Lowrie would be that power bat. If this trade happens - Red Sox do take a huge risk by giving 4 for 1. If Santana looses velocity, has a tired arm or gets injured - that might swing the balance totally in the twins favor. Also - anyone has a concern of Santana at Fenway stadium? Just being Devil's advocate here ( or playing GOM).
  5. Yankee board is all freaking out with this rumor. I think this one may be too good to be true.
  6. IMO he is the best if you consider the results. I don't think he will be this good if he has to operate under a budget. I would certainly rank Beane and Shapiro above him in terms of skills.
  7. Like they were the fav to get A-Rod that you kept reminding us? Only thing the Dodgers got so far is Joe Torre and his washed up platoon.
  8. Cubs resign Kerry - Carrie may still be available. http://rotoworld.com/content/HeadLines.aspx?sport=MLB&hl=226634
  9. Another slow newsday and it will be till the GM meeting. The off-season is too long and too cold and too boring. Looking forward to spring training already.
  10. Thanks.
  11. Yes absolutely for Santana. Proven pitching is better than unproven pitching. Clay's value is as high as it will ever be and what happens if he regresses? Remember Drew Hansen and what was his value 2 years back? Just to make it clear - I am not saying that Clay should be traded. All I am saying is he should not be untouchable if it comes to Santana or Haren. Ellsbury is close to untouchable in my book. And any trade will be encouraged only if there is a gurranted extension.
  12. It's actually 5 year 90 million. The way salary's are moving up - Drew signing will be reasonable in another year and Manny's option will look like real bargain. May be after 7 years A-Rod will regret that he did not put an opt out clause.
  13. It's actually not at all a bad thing to appreciate the players who hardly get any appreciation. More suggestions of user-id will be ILoveCora or GagneTheMan etc. etc.
  14. I will keep using this thread for Santana news as this was the first one as well I believe the thread should be here not in the other forum.
  15. Back to square 1:
  16. With that remark - I perfectly understand why your handle is what it is.
  17. Why in the name of God would the Brewers make this trade?
  18. Not much surprise here - he sucked since the W. Sox won the world series.
  19. Is this guy the brother of the hot-dog eater?
  20. I am not a stats guy - but Rollins probably has more steals and speed.
  21. I am not shocked and I would not have been shocked if it was Holliday or Fielder. NL Mvp unlike AL was too close to call. Rollins had a strong finish and the primary reason why the Phillies were able to bypass Mets.
