  1. I guess the point is Theo expects to get a diamond in the rough somehow. That has not worked out so well historically for him since he got Wade Millar. Injury prone players have gone back mostly to where they belong - DL or sometime DFA.
  2. That is pretty much the point. Because home grown players have been bailing out - we have not seen the failures from stupid trades and acquisitions and sometime no moves. Seriously - as much credit Theo should get for farm development - he has done nothing with free agents or trades in the last few years - unless you call overpaying Drew and Lugo a success.
  3. What would you say is the + of the off-season acquisitions? Seriously - I do not see any. I am happy with the Sox so far - but the only improvement this year came in a trade of RamRam. Could we have done better even if we did not get Tex - absolutely.
  4. Theo's sick bay acquisitions: Penny, Smoltz and Rocco.
  5. Exactly at what point we start listening to trade offers for David Ortiz?
  6. Red Sox so far has been very successful in Fenway. They need to prove it on the road - where they have sucked earlier.
  7. Just being devil's advocate - but Red Sox have made 2 crucial errors that should have been double plays.
  8. It is actually a nice place to visit in summer. But I like living in NYC for a living.
  9. Lived there for 2 years. Pretty much a dead and cold city like Pittsburgh and Detroit. Not a great place to be if you are trying to make a career.
  10. I just thought of something - if Hughes bombs tonight - guess who might be the next in line to hold Wang's place in rotation? KEI IGAWA.....
  11. Green is good with bat - his defense reminds me of Renteria - did he not commit 3 error in 1 day or something? Edit - Cleveland has my favourite ballpark - I have watched 3 Red Sox games there - Sox won all three.
  12. I was listening to Mike Francesa while coming back to work - he did not say anything about Ellsbury being classless neither did the callers. Craig & Boomer did make fun of Posada and Pettitte in the morning as they should. Did not listen to 1050 ESPN - but I will be surprised if Michael Kay goes too negative on Ellsbury. Here are the things that I also heard. Everyone pretty much agreed that the great pitching Yankees appeared to have before the season has fallen apart. Joba should belong to pen - but they have noone to replace him. If Hughes can't perform they have another huge hole in rotation. Bruney being on DL has put a big dent on the bridge to Mo - they do not have a 8th innings guy. In addition - 3rd base looks like a vacant spot and they miss a power bat in the line-up. Did not hear a single negative comment about Red Sox.
  13. If you are looking for classless act - you should look at Joba after every strike-outs he gets. I guess that has become a rarity this year - so I though I might have to refresh your memory.
  14. It's early but Jacoby has been a surprise since I started thinking that we made a mistake not dealing him for Santana when his trade value was highest. If he has solved his problem of how to deal with the inside fastball and can get on base - he can do some amazing things with the blazing speed as he demoed in the weekend. In terms of surprises 1. Tek ( so far so good). 2. Lowell ( Hip does not look bad any more). 3. Ellsbury.
  15. The Yankees have a real issue in terms of how they want to approach the mentality of 'we must win the world series every year'. They had this tendency of giving huge contracts to old players (specially pitchers) - and that did not work out well. So under the guideance of Cashman and the departure of George from FO - they tried to develop players in the farm for past 2 years like a Sox model . Well that did not work out well - most of the Yankee prospects were over-hyped including can't miss Hughes who are more valuable as a trade chips as long as they do not actually play in major league. So this year they are back to George/Hank system of just handing over boatload of money and huge 'no trade clause' contracts in a recession economy to players where there are no other bidders. If this also does not work out - I don't know where they go from here. Apart from Jackson - no-one thinks they have a good farm system and high priced tickers are not selling any more now that there is no Wall Street. Since 2004 - Red Sox have performed consistently better than the Yankees - so that can't be good for the fanbase either. If they don't make the playoffs this year - I see Hank showing door to both Cashman and Girardi. This is not the best time to be a Yankee fan.
  16. Unbelivable how Francona can kill this team. At this point he is the weakest link of this team - surprassing Ortiz. I guess he did not hurt the feelings of Becket.
  17. Hopefully we get something better next time we trade him. Anyone knows how Beltre is progressing who was also part of the trade?
  18. Makes sense - so did you become a mod? I know they were asking if someone is interested.
  19. Has anyone tried it this year? I just signed up and will watch the game from my office today pretending I am working. Looks like they have HD quality pictures and DVR which are cool. The best part is I can now get both home and away feeds when available so I can always choose NESN. Last year - the White Sox anouncers drove me nuts.
