TheKilo and BoSox21 - I understand your responses from financial terms - but in the meantime he is costing us games. We are in second position now but already proved to be vulnerable on the roads like last year. At some point - we will have to move him if we want to stay in the race. I am not sure what is the way to take him out of the lineup without trading him. Hitting has been OK so far which has masked his ineffectiveness. But we can't continue to keep him on daily line-up if he does not produce.

Lugo is hitting at least. Ortiz does not hit and never takes the field. I think the best will be if we DL Ortiz and then send him to Pawtucket for rehab starts. But I doubt he will take it positively. So trading is the only option we are left with the way he is batting. I do not like trading him now - but we are running out of options.

Big Papi. I have no clue how to gracefully subtract him from the line-up but I do think Carter/Bailey needs to replace him. I understand it will not help Ortiz's trade value - but more at bats he gets - the value becomes worse. On hindsight - we should have traded him in the offseason perhaps. Edit - anyone likes the idea of getting Dunn from the Nat's ?

I do not like either Lugo's or Green's glove. They are kinda letdown on an otherwise awesome infield defense.

I am more worried if Baldelli is any improvement than Kotsay.

I never thought I will say this - but somehow if we win the division - we better hope the Yankess get the wild card instead of Tampa. The way they have our numbers - we will probably again get our ass kicked in ALCS.

I think when we talk about Drew - the fans somehow feel he should not have been signed for 5/70M - probably that generated the heat. That and his carefree attitude. I am talking about dirtdog fans - not myself. I am kindoff getting tired with his problems with injuries though.

CMW and Becket are not even in the same universe in terms of skills. The two 19 win season shows how stupid win-loss stats are or how good Yankess bats are or how lucky CMW used to be - take your pick. Edit - I have watched CMW regularly at YES those days and night after night - I was shocked to see how someone with such mediocre stuffs can get so many wins.

Not getting into pissing contest with you. And I am not the only one suggesting RedSox needs a new manager. Now - I understand the point that teams have appeared or won WS with bad managers. So the question is does Manager's matter at all at ML level? I think that they do matter in close games. Also manager's can contribute negatively more than positively. If you have a bad manager - chances are he will contribute to a loss.

If Francona is better than just 10 - then he is not even close to top 10. Don't you need a top 10 manager to win it all? Also - I am not sure Tito is better than Macha or Piniella. Macha has done some nice things at Oakland with next to nothing resources. Piniella's firey attitude could be perceived as positive or negative - I personally like him though. Just my opinion though.

I guess you never met JayHawk Bill - he will tell you all about Tito. I have not watched the Sox since 1917 - but if he is the best we had - we must have had the shittiest managers. Please tell me where you would rank Tito with today's ML managers.

Were we not all discussiong last season how to get Swisher from White Sox before Cashman scooped him up? 4th outfielder on Sox is almost a starting job as Drew is out a lot.

Swisher or Abreau could have been better than Rocco as a 4th outfielder - IMO. Other than Ramirez - I do not think they have made much improvements. Saito has more upside - but I am starting to think Penny is a complete waste of time and money.
