  1. I wouldn't call the division mediocre. Minnesota is a door mat, but KC has improved, CWS always sticks around and the Tigers are one of the best teams in the league.
  2. hahaha hence my "will need to keep an eye on it it" comment
  3. Soreness this time of year is normal imo. Guys are ramped up for baseball to begin. Some probably over did it a bit. Something to keep an eye on though.
  4. Ya Dickey is more of a hard throwing knuckler as compared to Wake, who was more of a floater knuckler. I see both Dickey and Dempster being 4.5ish ERA guys who will throw a fair amount of innings if healthy.
  5. Then I'm not that interested. 30M a season for a 38 year old pitcher(who's likely to cost a pick) seems a bit of a stretch. Maybe if they were that one piece away from a Championship, but not in the situation they are likely to be in the next couple seasons. It will be interesting to see how those 5 guys do this year. Each has his own chink in the armor, but I could see the Sox making a play for one of them next year.
  6. Yes because wins in the 2nd half trump wins from the first half of the season You might as well have said he should have chosen to hit all his HR's with the bases loaded instead of one man on since most payers are capable of choosing when they hit their HR's...
  7. I have the same problem with there, their, they're. Learning a new language has completely screwed my English grammar and spelling
  8. 2/60? That's a little high imo. If he makes it through the season healthy, 2/40-45M seems like plenty. Just in MLBTR top 10 list '14 FA's, Halladay Johnson Wainwright Linecum Garza
  9. I don't care about typo's. I'm the master of them. But considering you were discussing turning down Harvard because it was "to limited" instead of "too limited" made me lol
  10. They are probably trying to trade him to the Yankees now lol
  11. He's gonna get tuned up. He should have gone to the NL if he had the opportunity.
  12. So anytime a team brings up a young player to replace a veteran, they are throwing in the towel? I wouldn't say this is the same situation as Reddick. Now if they trade Lavs and keep Salty, then maybe it's similar.
  13. This could very well be true. I'm not against them holding onto him for now and seeing if he gets hot and increases his trade value. Lavs starting in AAA isn't a bad thing either. Of course my tune could change slightly if he goes on a hitting rampage in Florida
  14. Ok playing devils advocate here. But should he have said "Salty is a s***** Catcher and we are going to dump him to make room for Lavs"? It's probably more likely they will look to trade him this spring or at some point this season and it wouldn't help his already low value by saying before ST even starts he has no spot on the team.
  15. Thanks But keep it on the DL, your gonna get me called an unimaginative ballwasher
  16. Pal just posted a story about him. He accidentally shot himself in the offseason so that's why he is not in big league camp. edit: Here's the story,
  17. lol dumass. I'm surprised it's not bigger news. I guess the recovery would depend on what type of fire arm it was and where he shot himself. I think if it was something career threatening or if he was expected to be on the opening day roster it would have been a much bigger story. From a PR standpoint it makes sense to try and keep it on the dl as most pro teams are probably trying to keep any kind of "gun" issue at a distance.
  18. It's good to see the pitching staff down there early. And from what I have seen it looks like everyone is in good shape. Doesn't mean they are all studs. But it's better then trying to figure out why someone looks as though they had been sitting at the buffet all off season(Schilling and Becket gut photos are jumping to mind from seasons past).
  19. My Aunt has 3' in Maine already. With the wind they had snow drifts covering the doors this morning. Hope everyone is safe and warm
  20. Welcome to the "ignore" list", plenty of room, VIP lounge is in the back
  21. imo they won't be held back. If/when one of the B's or other prospects shows they are ready to take over, I think a spot will be made for them. It's another important aspect of these short term deals that shouldn't be overlooked. Not saying the Sox will just hand a job over, but you get what I mean. imo this is how a large market team should conduct a "rebuild". They are giving us enough to stay interested instead of just mailing the next season or two in. Are they a juggernaut? no of course not. But they aren't the Astros either. Hopefully they are in contention all year. But if the team shits the bed the TDL should be very interesting.
  22. I would have been cool with a total rebuild and letting some young guys get a chance. But that s*** is not going to float in a media market like Boston anymore. They have to spend the money because they are the Red Sox and have high ticket prices. We all know they aren't going to drop the prices. So if they didn't spend the money on these short term guys, a certain sect of fans would have been going ape s*** and skewered the ownership for "pocketing their money".
  23. I wouldn't say Wainwright is the next elite Ace available. He is a really good pitch but has some chinks the armor so to speak. He's not someone I'd be thrilled to see the Sox invest a ton of money in.
  24. Is he a no sign risk? Wonder who his agent will be?
  25. Why is Wilson slipping? Or are the others just rising?
