  1. This isn't the ultimate proof of Salty's deficiencies in game calling. But it is something that raises and eye brow and might deserve some exploring.
  2. I was hoping to see Iggy develop with the Sox, but with Drew on the team and Xander waiting in the wings I wouldn't be against that trade. Maybe it was discussed prior during the Hanrahan trades but the Sox had to resolve the Napoli deal, get all the arb players signed and wait to see how much Jones was getting?
  3. He doesn't hit enough bombz in MLB da Show
  4. Peyton Manning is arguably the best regular season QB. He falls from the discussion when post season and Super Bowls get accounted for. Aaron Rodgers said it best, you make your money in the regular season and your legacy in the post season. Peyton Manning is this generations Dan Marino, he just happened to win a SB. Given the choice I would take Tom Brady as my QB in a must win game 10/10 times. If you took Manning you have some sort of bias or agenda.
  5. Pitching staff? Yes. Offensively? No. But that's who they are and it works for them. Posey is a legitimate threat and Panda can be. Pence is good. But they rest of their offense doesn't really stand out enough for me to call them a "juggernaut". But they are def at the top of the league right now. Just not head and shoulders above the rest imo.
  6. Ok, but where do you put him if Lackey is ready to go at the beginning of the season? I see 5 guys that are basically guaranteed to be in the rotation if healthy. If they are going to add depth it will have to be guys they can stash in the minors. I'm not against Marcum. I probably like him better then Lackey. But I just don't see him signing in Boston without a guaranteed rotation spot.
  7. Yes, but those fringe guys are probably easy to move if the team comes up with a better options. So they are still "flexible" so to speak.
  8. I think it's wide open across baseball. There aren't any juggernaut rosters so to speak. Most teams(outside of Houston and Miami) have reason for optimism. I can't remember a time where the league was all so bunched together.
  9. The Red Sox are in a tough division. But it's a wide open one. No team stands out from the pack. And well I'm not buying the Blue Jays.
  10. They spent money to keep the team "interesting" to some degree while it transitions. They are up near the threshold this season because of the need to bump the AAV to keep deals short. They have tons of money coming off the books over the next couple seasons. I don't see what they need to justify? If they had spent the money on the big ticket items it would have blocked up what they are trying to do. If they had pocketed the money Fred and a700 would have been at the head of a siege unit storming down Yawkey way to get their moniez back:lol:
  11. Ya that's what I thought originally. I was surprised to see 17M under the LT and didn't understand how it was possible. Like I have said before, other then some minor league deals or a trade, this team is done adding. Now I believe the date in which the payroll is counted is sometime in April or May? I think closer to the TDL they could add if they wanted to without the LT worry.
  12. I saw his stat line from last season and saw that K/9 rate and gagged. This is the only scenario I can see them bringing in another ML SP. But I haven't heard or read anything saying he won't be ready. Lohse isn't going to fit, especially with the draft pick attached to him.
  13. The weather here has been weirs. Usually you wither get mild temps with overcast and drizzly rain, or more clear days, colder temps and then snow. It's been all over the place this year. One week it's 50 and I want to go outside for training and then the other it's like 20... I'm just glad we have an inside complex to train at or the weather would have drove me over the age already
  14. Is that including all the arb cases?
  15. I don't see it as a match. Who would they take out of the rotation? Lohse's camp must be trying to drum up some kind of market for him.
  16. Not bad, winter training is in full swing so busy busy. London is terrible this time of year. Most or Europe is. I can't imagine Ukraine was any nicer hahaha Don't give up on British tv yet, there are some gems in there
  17. Spud my fav "old fart"! where have you been lurking?
  18. no that's a "bold" predictions. Stuff that's a little out there. We needed one for just the normal predictions. I'll predict for the guys I expect to get them most AB's, Ellsbury- .305/.370/.530 25 HR, 80 RBI 35 steals Pedroia- .295/.370/.460 15 HR, 85 RBI, 40 2B 15 SB Ortiz- .280/.390/.600 30 HR, 110 RBI Napoli- .260/.350/.550 33 HR 100 RBI Middlebrooks- .275/ .340/.530 25 HR 90 RBI Victorino- .265/.340/.440 15 HR, 40 2B 65 RBI Drew- .255/.330/.400 12 HR 30 2B Pitching Lester- 19-9 220 IP 3.30 ERA Buchholz- 18-10 200 IP 3.60 ERA Doubront- 17-10 190 IP 3.90 ERA Dempster- 15-15 215 IP 4.80 ERA Lackey 15-9 160 IP 4.50 ERA BP Hanrahan- 43 saves 3.50 ERA Bailey- 15 saves 3.00 ERA Uehara- 35+ app 2.00 ERA Bard- (surprise of the bp) 45+ app sub 2.00 ERA Miller- 4.50 ERA Morales- 8-5(swing man) 4.30 ERA Tazawa- 4.00 ERA That's all I can throw together for now.
  19. I'm really excited for the Netherlands team this year. Bogaerts is playing too. I have two players who almost made it on this years roster, but they will remain on the 21 and under team this time round. Fingers crossed for the next WBC.
  20. But he's old sexy, not new sexy regardless I was joking. I think if he's healthy and hitting he should be 3 or 4 for sure.
  21. Excited to see Bogaerts playing for the Netherlands in the upcoming WBC. All their games get televised here, will be nice to see him play.
  22. I don't think it was anything major. Might have been a more then just a small tear in the meniscus, trying to find where I read it and coming up with crapolla. He went on the DL in August with a groin injury.
  23. Vs LHP Ells Vic Pedey Ortiz Napoli Middlebrooks Ross Gomes Drew Vs RHP Ells Pedey Ortiz Napoli Victorino Middlebrooks Drew Lavs/Salty Kalish If Middlebrooks tears it up again I can see him being moved up to #3 or #4.
  24. You think Napoli is going to hit clean up over Ortiz?
