  1. Ok, this seems like he was rehabbing. I wonder if he had the knee worked on? Explains why we haven't herd much on him yet as he is just starting to throw. I'm still hoping the Sox snag him on a minor league deal.
  2. I think the Yankees are in a similar situation as the Sox were in last season. Decent roster and if things go right could be right in it. If a few key pieces go south or as Jacko said everyone ages at once it will be a grease fire. The Red Sox already blew it up. I'm expecting the Yankees to do the same next off season. Cano is a Dodger in waiting imo. It makes too much sense, LAD will pay him, and he will probably see it as his lifes honor to play 2B for the Dodgers as Jackie Robinson did. If I had to bet on any off season move for next season now, this is my bread winner I don't expect them to extend Jeter. I think they are finally going to put there foot down and say you can come back on your player option, but we aren't renegotiating and we are moving you from SS. I think he will be asked to move to 2B when Cano leaves. They probably try and move Arod and if they don't get a bite he becomes "Papi" in that he is pretty much a DH only(he probably be a good back up 1B if Tex any DL stints). Pettitte and Mo probably retire. Hughes, I think if he pitches good this season he might get a better deal on the market. Kuroda will be gone. Yankees are in for big roster overhaul. For Yankees fans I'm sure it will be tough to watch and era close, but on the other side should be really fun to watch a new era get built.
  3. Pretty sure he's never said Gomez is the answer and the team should stop looking because of his greatness. All he has said is that Gomez is an option, one of probably many to get a look at 1B if no one else is brought in. In other words, a completely normal baseball situation. Believe it or not, other teams do enter the season without sure things at all positions. And just because your ok with a bunch of ? getting a look in ST does not make you a ball washer. Fred your always going to end up in meaningless back and forths that get both parties nowhere if you can't come to terms with all things aren't black or white, especially with baseball. It's like trying to figure out a complex math equation using only + and -. It's never going to work because your not allowing for the variables.
  4. Interesting thought Dojji, it's something that they could very well to take a look at if no one else is brought in. Would be a bummer to waste his arm. Dudes got a hose for an arm. But if he holds his own with the bat they could always move him back to the OF in 2014. He's no guarantee, but could be worth a shot.
  5. Do I smell a Gomez avatar?
  6. It's all going to come down to who is available. I can see them overpaying on the #7 pick if it's an very high upside type player. Which there should be as all I have heard/read is that it's a deep class this year.
  7. There's no telling who becomes available in ST and on up to the deadline as well.
  8. Ortiz will probably get a few games at 1B with all the inter league play this year. But I agree with spitball in that it's too risky to put Ortiz out there even at a semi regular basis. Anything more then 10-15 games and I'm getting nervous. He's too important for the offense as things stand currently. That and his age will warrant some protection.
  9. Nice idea for a thread. Baseball draft is a little more interesting now and learning about they guys heading into the draft will be good. The Sox lack a big power threat at 1B in the minors. So I wouldn't be upset by that pick. Althoug it depends on what P is also available. Whats the P pool look like for this draft? Any pre season stand outs?
  10. fair nuff. So your thinking a Jones/Gomez platoon at 1B?
  11. But I thought you didn't want to trade pieces for a 1B/OF because it's not a P? I mean don't get me wrong, for the right price Jones is intriguing. I just seem to remember you being a bit down on Morse and Morneau and to me it's pretty similar situations. Just wondering what changed your tune? Is it because Napoli is looking less and less certain or do you hold Jones in higher regards the Morse and Morneau?
  12. idk either but every time I read it I laugh Totally making a movement from this day forward anyone considered to be an absolute FO homer/apologist be known as a "Honk" can I get this seconded please
  13. I too would like to see him in a Sox uniform to the end. Doesn't mean they have to make that deal now. Pedroia is a gamer. No question what so ever. But to me he seem like a guy that very rarely is 100% and has some sort of ding. He very rarely missed time because of it, because he is a gamer. But he's "dinged" a lot. And I think that has a cumulative effect. He had the thumb last season, foot the year before(this was the only one that cot him games really), I seem to remember one season there was a wrist/elbow/shoulder(one of them, I honestly could be wrong). I'm not selling on Pedey, just voicing why I think they should proceed with caution and not signing him until he's 40 right now.
  14. No interest in giving up Barnes. Not overly motivated to give up Owens but I could be convinced with a solid argument from someone I'm sure. I'm not a huge Upton guy. I think there is as much of a chance he blooms in Boston as there is he flames out. Seattle makes sense for Ellsbury. I'm already on record predicting if he isn't traded there he will sign there next off season. Seattle is deeeesperate and if Ells has a solid season Boras is going to exploit the s*** out of them. It will be more then BJ Upton's deal and I bet Boras somehow pulls a Crawford like deal out of the M's. It just makes way too much sense.
  15. Any chance the can get Everett to be his cell mate? Prime time gold.
  16. It will take either Morales or Miller and maybe 1-2 mid tier prospects. If he has a good season it's likely they get a pick for him. I don't think that's giving up too much. The Sox have the extra pieces to make this work and it shouldn't hurt them short term or long term.
  17. Ya that sums it up If you want to make a comparison in a deal the Sox should use as a bench mark, Kinsler is much closer then Longoria.
  18. Did Gomez kick your dog or knock up a family member of yours? Your hatred of him is so bad it's funny
  19. c'mon I make the tinfoil jokes around here http://i564.photobucket.com/albums/ss88/SilentWolf8979/Smileys/tinfoil.gif
  20. Ya it's been much better recently
  21. Yes, but I'm sure someone was going to bring it up in defense of Napoli since a lot of us are jumping on the hip issue as a reason to move on. Was just getting it out of the way.
  22. Just because I said no on a super long term deal like Longoria's doesn't mean I'm saying they should get rid of him. What they should do is sign him until he's 35 and then go from there. Anything beyond that is risky. onlybereaved, this quote from the Yankee fan should be enough to make you understand a big long term deal(6+ years) for Pedey at this point is just not smart at all. In fact in todays game with, signing anyone beyond 35 is a crap shoot.
  23. Morse had a wrist issue. Just stating it so someone doesn't think that the people who are pulling for Morse aren't aware or ignoring this fact. Still remains I like an injury ? better on a one year deal then multiple.
  24. Pretty much. That and he has just as much power potential as Napoli. Nats are looking for a ML LHP for the BP and maybe a couple small pieces. It's not like they would be asking for Bogaerts. At this point I feel like Morse for a BP arm is better then Napoli and his ticking time bomb hip on a multi year deal. I liked the Napoli deal when I thought he might do a bit of catching as well. Now if he was on the team I want him nowhere near any catchers gear. And for me that rubs a bit of the shine off on a player that wasn't overly shiny to begin with(good not great player, not exactly the guy you build a lineup around, but he def has offensive value).
  25. What? No he won't. Are you drunk? He's 30 and not they typical middle of the order bat like Longoria. On the open market Pedey would probably get something like 5 years at 15M AAV. He won't be signing any 10 year deals.
