  1. I wonder what the hold up is? If it falls through I'm still of the side where I think the Sox should offer him a minor league deal.
  2. He makes a lot of sense, but he's going to cost a ton and he's going to have multiple suitors.
  3. I know, OZ is out from behind the curtain. You completely face planted by trying to play the "he insulted me" card when I clearly did no such thing and now it's right out there for everyone to see. I couldn't think of a better way to end correspondence with you
  4. Please continue, you are only proving my point. It's almost too easy at this point.
  5. I'm not sure where I insulted you. There is your insult Still looking for mine And this about sums you up. /class
  6. I tried, I asked him a baseball specific question. He couldn't respond with a baseball answer. Instead he pulled his usual crap and I called him out on it. Ok back to Baseball. Did Lackey participate in the "crack-head" diet this off season? He looks like he lost 100 pounds.
  7. Same ol soup, just re-heated. The a700 special. Question the other parties intelligence instead of nutting up and answering the question.
  8. You have completely lost it. You also should get paid by the Jets as a secondary coach because you back peddling technique is perfect.
  9. You said it was a 170M payroll for this season was "asinine" Definition of asinine: I explained what they have done was not unintelligent and looks to be the smartest thing to do compared tot he other avenues they could have taken. I don't see how I'm being an "asshat" just because I called you out on your typical moaning and groaning. But by all means please layout your master plan of how they should have approached building the team. You might have dodged the question by playing the "your new, so I'm not answering you until you have x amount of posts" card, but I'm not new, and I'm asking you to put up or STFU.
  10. Wow that's a big deal. Good for Seattle though.
  11. http://http://twitter.com/GordonEdes/status/299547863556448258/photo/1 Lackey has definitely switched to Bud Light Btw I loaded this from my phone, so I may have messed it up
  12. How? They are up that high because of the short term high AAV they gave out. If you would once in your life look beyond one season you will see the Sox have an absolute ton of money available in the next few seasons and an increasing amount of roster flexibility. If they spent the money on the big ticket items they would be at the same payroll but wouldn't have the flexibility going forward. If they went total rebuild and spent considerably less you would have been complaining that they are pocketing your money. Is there any situation where you wouldn't have anything to complain about?
  13. I don't think we need to worry. I don't see ol moose-knuckle finishing his contract in Boston. He may be here all season, but after that I think he will get traded. The league minimum year will be valuable to other teams. The Marlins would probably trip over themselves trying to get him
  14. Weird but I'll watch because I'm a Knuckleballer
  15. . He would be a train wreck in the AL imo. Also was unreasonable to think the Sox would have protected their pick all winter only to give it up for a 5-6 SP in February.
  16. That's a good and fair opinion on the situation. Nice post.
  17. I gotta think they have a leg up on the Twins for that honor Pal
  18. SS, 2B, CF are known as "up the middle" defensive positions. Typically defense is valued higher in these spots as they cover the most "fair" ground on the field and because of that get more defensive attempts over the course of a season. Power is not a must, just a plus at these spots. Inherently if your lacking at power in those "defensive" spots you look to add power in the less demanding defensive positions. That's pretty much the basics of it. Obviously there are exceptions like Hanley, where his glove was passable at the high priority defensive position because his bat was so good.
  19. If Overbay is on the team it will only be to rest Napoli occasionally or be the late inning defensive replacement late in games because he is good with the glove. I don't think he's going to be part of a true platoon. So I don't think people need to worry so much. Sox needed a LHH 1B that was ok with a minor league deal and a shot to be a bench player. Anyone who is better then Overbay is likely going to get a better deal then that in some form or another.
  20. And that about sums up how I feel about the team. Either they will contend or they will start shipping guys out for prospects. And I'm ok with that. For me it will be interesting either way.
  21. The Yankees are probably paying a pretty high premium to get that kind of coverage.
  22. Better then Lars Anderson
  23. I'm reading everywhere Yanks are trying to void Arods deal. Thoughts in general from our Yankee mates here on the board?
  24. Any kind of LHH power threat instantly has value for the Yanks a YS imo. Would be a solid sign.
  25. Lance Armstrong never failed a test in a sport that has the best testing and he was using the entire time. It's not a stretch to believe players are following the same kind of vigorous regiment. This is just another sign that testing is pointless. People just need to get over the fact competitive players are always going to look for an edge or certain people are going to push the limits to get the ultimate pay day. IMO the only way to stem the flow of PED use is to make the punishment financial. Players don't care about the game suspension as they are still getting decent pays days afterwards or are already on big contracts and are financially secure. What they need to do is if your busted you automatically make league minimum for a league year. Means if you get busted in July, your on league minimum deal until the following July. You get busted twice your current deal is voided and you for go the right of multi year contracts and are on league minimum single years deals for 2 seasons. Busted a third time and the remainder of your major league career you will eligible to sign league min deal. They have to take away the financial gain for it too have any effect.
