It's a ST signing. That's it. No one should be overly happy or bummed by this move. Just because it gets reported on twitter or MLBTR doesn't actually mean it's an important make or break signing. Dojji has it right in that if we ever hear from him again it will most likely mean he earned a spot on the team, which would mean he is playing well. Or the 10 guys in front of him on the depth chart go down. And if that's the case it won't really matter anyways.

That is probably the floor. Even with his age he might pull a Felix deal.

It be insane to give a 30-31 year old SP 200M imo. I don't care how good he is. It's just begging for trouble. I wouldn't want the Red Sox to pay him that.

Eventually yes. But With the way they are spending I can see them dropping big contracts on Kershaw and Cano. They can always move Either to clear some money if need be.

The Yankees situation is now the situation the Red Sox have faced forever I suppose lol They can spend with the best of them, but there is one team that can spend more if they chose to do so.

I honestly expect Cano to be a Dodger next season. I've been saying it for a long time now and nothing has made me want to shift from that. The only way I don't see LAD throw the bank at him is if they win a WS this season. Then they may be less inclined to bring in another star.

He's getting at least 7. Almost every contract in the top 15 of MLB is 7+ years. He's going to get that. If he signed for less it might be the deal of the century and I don't see Boras letting that happen on his watch. I honestly don't know why some think he will sign early when he knows he can go test the market and still be able to call the Yanks and get a Tex type deal if he doesn't like the market.

It's a big gain but I will give the benefit of the doubt. My first impression when I saw him last year in Boston was surprised at how big he was. You wouldn't expect someone that big to be as speedy as him. That's what separates him from the rest physically. I also remember thinking this guy will be a monster when he filled out. At his age and with his frame a 5,000 calorie a day diet plus off season training I don't put it out of the realm of possibilities he put the extra muscle on without illegal help. But you never know.

I was jk. I'm a Bard supporter. I'm making fun of the tools around here that are under the impression he will never be able to pitch again after a failed attempt at trying to become a SP.

And that should tell you it has no chance in happening. 6/150M is a team friendly deal. It's not happening. I'm guessing he gets 7/175M at minimum.

I bet you would. Problem is that's not likely to be enough. Boras gets or gets close to what he wants with "elite" players. Which Cano is. 6 years is not likely to get it done. There is no incentive for him to take that short of a deal.

Some are making it a problem. Some are just suggesting a move to 1B to make the overall IF better in the event one of Marrero or Iggy shows they can be a valuable SS it would make sense to try and get all 3 of Middlebrooks, Bogaerts and Marrero/Iggy in the IF.

It would have been pretty dumb to announce he's going on the 60 day DL while in negotiations with the Mariners for Carp, which have been going on at least since he was DFA'd.
