  1. Baltimore,Cleveland and someone else that I can't think off the top of my head, where said to be after his services, with Cleveland the biggest competition. Riverside, Thank you for realizing my point, I'm just glad i'm not alone:D
  2. ORS you could be right, I will see if I can find what he is. Found it, we don't get anything:thumbdown: oh well we save money I guess:thumbsup:
  3. Finally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Someone thinking outside the box. I'm glad to see the my buddy Fred has realized with myself in a few others that yes our payroll will be high this year, but after next it will be right back down to where it started at this offseason. Thanks Fred I was beginning to think I was the only one who saw this. And if for some reason Manny is moved by the trade deadline, the payroll will be down around 90M... hmmmmmm thats another 45-55 M to spend next offseason:thumbsup:
  4. I agree Crunchy in stability. But the only one we should have kept was OC. Renteria didn't like BOS and most everyone wanted him gone, AGON was great but we need someone with some sort of a bat. As much as everyone is bitching about money, 15M is too much to give to a one sided SS in the AL.
  5. Glad to see him decline, now we can get a pick for him to replace the one we gave up on Lugo.
  6. I see some on here would "bitch if you where hung with a new rope". Lets wait until the season actually starts and we see what we have. Instead of bashing these guys before they even get into town for a physical. The market went beserk this year, thats not the FO fault. AGON for 15 million. Sorry he has a great glove, but hes not worth that in the AL. You be crying if Cora was playing SS opening day. What the f*** do you want? For them to pull one out of thin air? Lugo was the best available option and they had to pay him like the best available option. Drew was the best fit for RF, and we payed him like he was. Unless we wanted WMP, Hinske, or any other FA( Guillen, Bonds, Gonzalez ect.) playing for us. If that was the case, everyone would bitch about that. As far as Nixon goes, yes we could have brought him back for cheap, but still get no production. We could have not spent any money and stood pat with what we had, finished 3rd in the division if we where lucky, and again everyone would bitch. Don't be daft in bringing up Drew makes as much as Pujols either. Hes not a FA this year in this market, and if he was he probably easy get 20 Million a year. Pujols is a bargain right now considering how the market blew up. 14M a year is not what it was as even compared to last years market. It's called inflation people, get used to it, it won't go down, these contracts in a couple of years might be considered bargains. As far as bleacher seats going to 100 bucks, o f***ing well, thats what we get for wanting to keep Fenway Park alive and kicking. If you don't like it drive to Baltimore for a weekend series or watch games on tv in HI DEF. And if you don't like how the team spends money, then go cheer for KC or PIT. They spent money on the best available players at market prices, they didn't set the market and have no contol over it. They spent the money to try and IMPROVE the team. I for one would much rather have what they have now then the s***** run of the mill team we fielded last year. As far as I'm conserned this team is alot better then last years, and without the transaction we would have been lucky to finish 3rd.
  7. Thanks ORS, I wasn't sure if this was the last year in his contract. With that they loose about 40 million off payroll next off season and basically start right from where they did this year.
  8. But lets not forget that after this season we will loose about 30-34 million on players contracts coming off the books. Schilling- 13 M Timlin- 2.8 M Wakefield- 4M Lowell- 9M Hinske-2.8 M Foulke( if he comes back for a season) 6 M
  9. I'll take a stab at some projections Player AVG HR RBI OBP Steals SS Lugo .285 12 60 .375 15 1B Youk .280's 15 70 .375 1 DH Papi .300 45 135 .355 1 LF Manny .315 35 125 .415 1 RF Drew .280 17 90 .420 10 3B Lowell .275 14 65 .300 1 C TEK .270 12 55 .300 -1:D CF Crisp .285 10 45 .365 20 2B Pedroia .260 10 45 .350 8 Just some random numbers on my part, please don't think i'm taking myself to seriously on this, all in good fun.
  10. He had shoulder surgery at the end of the year. He's still on the team and the odds of him being traded are none because he isn't expected to beable to throw in 07.
  11. He is most likely to get somewhere around 13 million a year. Boras can't bitch about that too much because thats Santanna, Halliday money. And there the only REAL shutdown aces outt here right now.
  12. Wakefield is a horrible option as closer. Lester will most likely start the season in AAA after ST with the Sox. Unless Lester recovers physically quicker then expected, don't expect to see him in BOS until maybe late in the season.
  13. Well it seems as tho Manny will be staying despite some sites trying to keep the trade rumors alive. Our line up will look nice this coming season. And if for some reason it doesn't work out with Manny during the first part of the season, I say we put him back on the block at the trade deadline and get whatever we want for him. LA,SD,SF,SEA and whoever else will be willing to give more up if there in the middle of a division race. If this is what happens, expect the Sox to put whoever wants Manny, over the barrel and get whatever they want. That will make whichever team that gets him, wish they had done the deal now:thumbsup:
  14. The Dodgers have landed the biggest free-agent pitching prize to date, reaching a preliminary agreement on a three-year, $47 million contract with right-hander Jason Schmidt, FOXSports.com has learned.
  15. SuperManny, hes a NYY fan:thumbdown: No Offense Jackson:D
  16. Jackson, I usally see your points, but the Sox like I said are right around 100 million as of right now. They can get what they need with the 48 million they have left if they need to. And like I said next year at this time we will be back down around 108 million and will be ready to spend again. All i'm saying is we might be over for one season, but we will be back down next year. One season over the LT isn't bad. How long have the NYY been over it? 5 years or so?
  17. Ya i'm scared for the people walking down the street behind the monster, they might get hit by a Foulke fastball that just got hit 400ft. When Foulke pitches they should put out signs back there that say "Watch for falling objects".
  18. With the players under contract right now there hovering around 100 million. If the LT is 148 million, that means they have 48 million to spend. 14 mill for drew, 8 for Lugo( 4 years 32 million is what hes asking), 13 for DMAT( thats Santanna, Holliday money), and 3 million for some closer. Thats 38 million, they still be 10 million left for the BP.And once all the players are gone next year( see my last post), they will be around 108 million at the beginning of next off season. Is it that hard to believe they can do this?
  19. There payroll is going to be a bit larger if the keep Manny, Drew and sign Matsuzaka. But Manny is only on the payroll this year and next year. Then he will be off the books. After next season, Schilling, Wakefield,Timlin, Lowell will all be off the payroll. So there only looking at one season with a bloated payroll. It's not out of the question they have all these players on roster. Schilling-14 million Wake-3-4 million Timlin- 3 million Lowell- 9 million thats 30 million of next year.
  20. It does sound as tho ol Manny boy will be playing LF next season. With Drew, and maybe Lugo signed, it's has the potential to be a very nice line up. If i'm doing the lineup card( assuming Drew and Lugo sign) this is what mine would look like. 1.SS Lugo 2.RF Drew( he is going to have way better numbers if Papi and Manny are behind him, not infront of him) 3.DH Papi 4.LF Manny 5.3B Lowell 6.1B Youk 7. C Varitek 8.CF Crisp 9. 2B Pedroia I think using Drew in the number 2 hole will benifit more then having him hit behind the big boppers. His OBP is nice and they should drive him on a regular basis. If there is no Manny trade, maybe we can pick up a young 1B like ATL laroche so that Youk can be moved to 3rd and Lowell sent out for a middle relief guy. But if not thats's still not a shabby lineup.
  21. Nice post Jackson. Glad to hear he's doing well and might be back sooner then later:)
  22. If LA doesn't get Manny then he probably will. If LA does get Manny they won't have the money for Schmidt too. Look for him to go to STL,SEA, or CHC( where after working with there pitching coach, his arm will fall off half way threw the season). CHC pitching coach is the best when it comes to ripping your arm to shreads.
  23. Cordero be nice but we better end up with SF best pitching prospect( his name evades me at this point in time) atleast. Cordero would be awesome to have as closer but we need to get atleast one or two prospects in any Manny deal plus a ML.
  24. The alcohol distrubuters in Texas must be happy with Padilla getting 10 million a year( sorry, its a low blow, but couldn't pass it up:dunno: )
  25. Theo said in an interview at the winter meetings, that Lugo was an option but he was also looking at discussing trades for a SS. No idea who tho. Anyone have any idea who would be avaliable for trade?
