  1. Someone might move up to the #1 spot to take him tho. Jamarcus Russell is a decent player but in all honesty the only team thinking of drafting him is the Oakland raiders. the most likely can afford to trade down and pick up some extra picks. I wish the pats would send both there 1st rounders to Oakland plau a couple others in next yrs draft to get him, but I don't see it happening. We need some WR's and LB's tho. They better no draft another damn TE or OL. One of ESPN's football guys mock draft have them taking the DE out of Florida, why we need another DE I'm not sure because I think Seymour, Wilfork and the other guy make a great 3 man front and are young to boot.
  2. Cashman has to talk up a big game for Pavano, if in the back of his mind he is looking to trade him later on.
  3. Wells for Kottras wasn't too bad either.
  4. Ya thats a gooden too! I just couldn't remeber who we dealt in that one besides Pavano.
  5. He was the man in 04, but most remeber how s***** he was in 05.
  6. No he didn't mean Pavano for Helton. If the Rox can dump his salay it makes salary room for Pavano. Helton I don't think is going to be going anywhere, he already said he would veto any trade after the hole Boston rumor thing was over. The Rox want way too much for Helton if there just trying to dump salary, I mean they wanted like 2 or 3 top prospects from us plus for us to eat 60M of his salary. They will have to butter up to Helton and take less prospect wise if they want to be rid of that albatross contract.
  7. Ya but we got a good one too, Lowe and Varitek for Hethcliff Slocumb... Danny boy's best deal by far and one of the best deals in Sox history.
  8. Anything intersting being discussed threw out the league?
  9. Ouch.... I had no idea we had Duchscherer and trade him for Doug Mir....... I think I'm gonna be sick......LOL
  10. Could be... I mean I won't go and say this is why he has stunk but it could be one of the problems. I don't think we will ever get anything out of him, because I don't see us giving him a one yr deal next yr or anything, but he might beable to make a difference for someone in the NL.
  11. Someone else pointed this out awhile back, in most of his starts he was very affective the first time threw the lineup... Maybe he will make a decent relief pitcher....
  12. O ok, too bad the dumass's didn't get that one right, could have him at first instead of Youk...
  13. We drafted him? Damn I didn't know that. Who the hell did we get for him? Another Red Sox infamous trade.
  14. ummmm that was what we were saying Jackson....... It be nice to get a couple good outings out of him then ship him some where at the trade deadline to a desperate team. Basically what you guys will most likely do with Pavano if Hughes steps up and shows he's ready now.
  15. This is why I say Dan Shaunessy is a tool of the upmost kind and gets boned in the ass by jackie Mcmullen on a daily basis, worrying about what he will write about because Manny is not at camp...
  16. http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20070223&content_id=1813312&vkey=spt2007news&fext=.jsp&c_id=bos Sounds like he's pretty upbeat and wants to pitch in 07. Not saying he will be anything of any consequence, but if he can get into a few games before the trade deadline and look decent we might be able to ship him to the pitching deprived Cardinals or Mets. One or both of them will most likely be looking for pitching. If worse comes to worse maybe he will just give our guys a day off here and there in the late part of the season.
  17. Didn't Coco puff get a new deal last ST and is signed for the next couple years?
  18. The funny thing is, in the coming years after manny has retired we won't even think or discuss his antics. We will simply look back upon his stunning career and remember all the great hits, catches, and bloopers in the field. It's too bad that someone has to be gone or not playing anymore before you realize how special they really where. Manny has never talked to the media. He's not a media person, and i don't think he is comfortable talking in public like say ol 7-11 mouth Schilling. He doesn't say anything to the media so that bruises there egos and make them believe Manny doesn't like them, so they inturn turn on him and bash him for stupid things. March 1 is the date at which it is mandatory to show up to ST, aslong as he is there on that date then everything else doesn't matter. Some guys like to show up early, some guys like to show up on time, and some guys hate going to ST( but still show up). For teams and players like the Red Sox and NYY, these guys for the most part are on the job from mid feb. to Oct. Thats 8 long months, so the guy doesn't want to add a couple of weeks to that, no big deal. My suggestion to everyone is stop listning to these dumass reporters who think they know whats on Manny's mind but have no clue whatsoever, sit back and watch the greatness unfold before your eyes and cheerish the moments you get to watch him play, because the sad fact is he will not always be out in LF forever. And the odds of seeing another player of his type of caliber is not hi, Manny Ramirez's don't fall from the sky everyday, they are few and far between.
  19. Comparisons are going to happen no matter what anyone says or does, you just have to take them with a grain of salt. When people start the comparisons I look at it like this. Whoever there being compared to is the ceiling for there talent. I don´t expect them to be as good or better but a step below, that way if they blow they let down isn´t as bad. We all like to think we have the next Pedro or the next Rocket. If Matsuzaka can win 15 plus games a year and keep his ERA under 4 I think that would be an acomplishment in todays AL East, same goes for Hughes too.
  20. I still hope they find a compitent #2 back. It´s good to have one to lessen the load on the #1 guy. Maroney is a power guy that can bust it out side or up the middle, what they need out of there #2 is a guy thats fast and hard to catchin the open field, Maroney should beable to handle everything at the goaline.
  21. Jayson Stark thinks the Sox are the favorite in the East. I think our starting rotation has the higher upside( with about the same amount of question marks as NY), Our lineup is not as strong 1 threw 9 as NY but it's stronger then last year and has the chance to be a top 5 Offensive team. The only difference in the BP is MO, Proctor had a good season, but one good one doesn't automatically make you legit. Farnsworth is as un consistant as the come, Myers is a one bat wonder. So they have almost as many questions in the pen as we do. I think saying there the favorites has merit, only because I think having a better starting rotation is better then having a better line up. But we will just have to sit back and watch as a new season settles all our questions for us... Man I love Baseball!LOL
  22. Fair enough argument...
  23. They may throw alot of different pitches for strikes and have control of numerous pitches, but the mechanics are not the same. Matsuzaka is a drop and drive pitcher who mainly pitches out of the over hand arm slot. Pedro is more of a swing pitcher, he rocks to get going and his arm angle is alot closer to side arm then Matsuzakas.
  24. He wanted like 15M and the cubs had offered him something like 11M and change, anyway it looks like he gave them more of a discount.
  25. By the looks of that gut hes got plenty of gas left.... looks like he added another tank....
