  1. Veterans don't have to show up until March 1, so him not being there now I think is not a big deal at all. He's been in the bigs along time and kept himself in great shape so I don't know why ther media jumps on him. Dan Shaunessy is probably down there right now getting boned in the ass by Jackie Mcmullen saying " Oh my God, Manny isn't here, I have nothing to write about, I'm a s***** journalist.... o ya Jackie...... o ya....."
  2. He looks good, glad to see hhe's in good shape. Probably did alot of cardio this off season to test his heart and stuff.
  3. Ya long toss is pretty casual, it just shows he has a strong arm. Elway used to beable to throw a football the length of the field(100 yds, 300 ft for the kiddies) so its not unthinkable but its def. a good thing.
  4. I actually think( I might be a minority) that Pinerio will be the closer at the end of ST. If his velocity is back up in the mid 90's and his slider is bitting hard, I think he can get by with those two pitches in the closers role. If anything he should atleast have one decent year or so before everyone adjust's to him. He's been pitching out west so alot of the East guys have not seen him. Yes I know Jackson is gonna throw the ERA out there and all the other negatives about Pinerio, but facing guys one time in the 9th is alot different then facing the 3+ times in a game. I think he will beable to get away with a little bit more only pitching to a couple guys a night. All though I could be wrong and we will have to find someone else. If Pinerio fails then most likely the closers gig will go to the hottest hand in the pen, Pinerio, then Donnely and if those two don't work out Maybe Okijihma( not sure what kind of stuff he has) but no one has ever seen him so that can only be a plus even if his stuff is mid grade. Foulke got it done for a yr for us with an 88 MPH fastball and a sweet change, if that can get it done then someone in the pen should be able to do it.
  5. I agree, this would be a huge gossip story like 40 yrs ago, now days its kinda normal and Brady has handled it the best way possible.
  6. He never will ownup to it now, maybe after he retires and is out of the NY spot light. To admit there is a problem is to admit that you have been lying the whole time. Jeter will admit the he had a rift with Arod and stop denying it the same time he comes out of the closet.
  7. Thats just an example of AROD sticking his foot in his mouth like he does on a regular basis. At that time I don't think he realized it would make that big of a deal because for the most part most people would have agreed about what he was saying. Papi made comments on the same type of level AROD did but he didn´t get nearly as much s*** for it.
  8. He did looka little on the hefty side, but atleast he isn't falling out of his unirform like Wells LOL
  9. Shawn Kemp in his prime in the NBA had like 11 illegitimate kids... they say thats the record for sports players LOL Willis Mcgahee has like 3 already hes going for the record! Holyfield has some huge amount too...
  10. None, Gay men don't have illegitimate kids... sorry it was too easy
  11. I think its a good idea and one that I thought they would do. Like I said before if Schilling comes out and pitches well in 07( or good enough for the number 3 or 4 spot) then sign him. But its not worth signing him now and he goes out and sucks ass( which I find it hard to believe) then your stuck with him chewing up money and a rotation spot. This is no disrespect to him, what he did in 04 was awesome but its 07 now and he has to proove himself again.
  12. The interview that Arod had a few years back that started all this was true at the time. When NY was winning championships( jeter was a significant player) but teams where not looking at stopping him. They wanted to stop Paul, Bernie, Tino. Jeter wasn't the #1 guy back then like he is now. Jeter is acting like a baby about the hole thing. Hes just mad someone said publicly, but if you truley are a baseball fan and know the game then you already new that he was a good player and an important one but he wasn't #1 on those teams. Jeter has had a great career, but you have to admit he has had a great line up around him for his whole career. Put Jeter in another line up and he will be good but nowhere near as good as he has been.
  13. De De Deeee
  14. Coco's covering his ass incase he gets out of the gate slow... Taveras probably said in passing "I liked starting it was fun"and some reporter turned it into a tantrum and said he demanded it... Beckett having a respitory thing is no biggy, s*** I used to get broncuittus every year like clock work, he probably just has an early tee time on a nice course:D...
  15. Yes but if he is moved back his workload will be reduced. No 2 inning games and less back to back nights. The doctors must have really like the results of the off season shoulder strengthing he did or they would not risk him.
  16. The thing with Lester is he thinks he can win a spot in the rotation. Hes only a couple of pounds under his playing weight and he thinks he has all his strength back. If so thats awesome, but like most others I don't want to rush him. But if he prooves he is ready then I think it would be great to get a south paw into the rotation. Hopefully his velocity will be back up in the mid 90's like it had been. As far as Hansen as the closer, I doubt it. He would have to have an unbelievable spring. He is most likely going to start the season in AAA were he needs to be. Like I have said before, Hansen,MDC,Hansack and a few others are fighting for one spot on the team. I think MDC will win it and that leaves Hansen starting in AAA.
  17. Papelbon said hes healthy enough to close. He said the shoulder should be a none issue. If they did resume with him as closer then his workload would be cut. Only 1 inning nights and probably they would keep an eye on any back to back games. He wouldn't be closing every night so someone else would still have to step up into the part time closer gig. 1. Schilling 2. Beckett 3. Matsuzaka 4. Wakefield 5. Lester/ Pinero/ whoever CL- Papelbon Thats a good rotation with an ace in the bullpen, and I'm sure NY fans like Jackson would admit that that would make there overall pitching staff in the bullpen way better. I don't care what Papelbon's role is on the team just as long as he does well, whether it be 35+ saves, or 15+ Wins and 200 innings.
  18. Damn Curt whens the baby do? All jokes aside I think he will be good to go. Lugo looks about 12 without his goat around his mouth... looks like he could be the starting SS for some team in the Little League WS...
  19. Ya the kids should be good to go A700, you cant miss the debut. I'm in Europe so I think theres no chanceof me seeing it LOL
  20. Dan Shaunessy gets boned in the ass by jackie Mcmullen on a nightly basis...
  21. Not sure how to change thread name but if someone is able to then go ahead I won't mind
  22. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2767796 theres the story Sweet atleast we get our pick, sucks he was injured, But i won't forget what he did for us his first year:D
  23. Can't find anything official, The guy that does sportcenter during commercials reported it. Said he felt pain in his elbow and didn't want to go threw another injury season. Does this F up our sandwhich pick?
  24. On ESPN Mike and Mike in the morning, during the break it was reported Keith Foulke is retiring.
  25. HAHAHA, RS When I saw that pic of Youk on bostonglobe.com I thought it was Wells! He needs to trim that thing down it doesn't look that good.
