  1. Coors field is getting ready to head back to the offensive powerhouse of old, too bad, they should let them use the humidor there if not anywhere else. It really helped there. But I guess we can expect Helton to hit his 45+ annual HR's again and Holliday should bat about .400 with 60hrs. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/6459126
  2. Hes def. earned that.
  3. You mean in 07. He will keep in shape and wait for the inevitable to happen, someone will go down with an injury and then theyll probably add him to the roster at that point. The only other team I could see going after him is the Cubs. they could use Bernie as a one yr stop gap for Felix Pie. But I really don't see him going to another team.
  4. Mets Sign Chan Ho Park According to Adam Rubin of the New York Daily News, the Mets will add righty Chan Ho Park soon. A Korean newspaper mentions that the deal is for $3MM with an option. Park also had an offer from the Padres. Hat tip to MetsBlog for originally finding this one. Back in December, Scott Boras was reportedly trying to sell the Red Sox on the idea of using Park as a closer. Park will be helpful for the Mets as a swingman. I like the way Omar Minaya is building his pitching staff backwards. I think it'll work. PECOTA says to expect a 4.70 ERA from Park in 115 innings. There staff is still pitiful...
  5. Jackson, while you may totally be right on this lets bring this list back at the end of the season, and see which guys fall off and who appears in there places like happens all the time besides in NY and SD. So make sure to mark this one down for us!
  6. That was the team I was going to put out, Thanks for saving me the work RS!
  7. Ya we don't have any aces in the BP but I think there is enough down there to keep us afloat until a starter is found. Timlin was hurt during the WBC last yr and was never the same. Donnely should help with the workload too in the 7th and 8th innings. Pinerio is an unknown, so is okijimha, romero, taveras but most BP have no clue what they have from year to year and someone usually steps up and has a good season and can become dependable and able to be counted on.
  8. Our offense was pathetic and anemic last season, to compare the two is trivial. 2 completely different teams.
  9. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/[link] Should be fun to get to watch Ellsbury play a little.
  10. Jacko, Mattingly might be the next manager, but I think your next manager is sitting up in the YES network booth, that being Giradi of course.
  11. There aren't too many catchers how throw guys out on a consistant basis really.
  12. You could easily see how important Tek was to the staff last yr. When he got injured the rookies all crashed and the Starting rotation tanked. Tek is more important to the staff then alot realize or give him credit for.
  13. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/hotstove06/columns/story?columnist=crasnick_jerry&id=2755852[link] Looks like Boras is already drueling on this one. He will get a bigger deal then soriano no problem. LAA,LA,SEA,WASH and it even mentions Boston as possible interested teams, money will not be an issue, someone will pay him enough to make him happy.
  14. He hates NY but wont admit it, he might not get more annualy but he stands to make more in the total contract, Soriano just got a seven yr deal, AROD I bet can easily get a 6 yr 100M deal from someone who needs a bat. Theres only 72M left on his contract now, see how he would make more?
  15. I believe I said this at the the beginning of the winter meetings that I was guessing AROD would opt out of his contract and hit the FA market. Some said no way he leave all that money on the table but the article even says he can get more money then whats left on his contract on the FA market. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/6446994[link] Jackson I know its nothing solid but you have to admit that I brought this to your attention awhile back and now I'm not the only one thinking it could happen LOL
  16. I know that Brady does theres no denying that. But atleast his team got some credit. It was all about Manning this week tho. And I was just saying that in any way shape or form if the Colts won he was going to be MVP no matter what. The media was foaming at the mouth hoping they would win so they could talk about Manning finally getting over the hump like it was owed to him. Nothing was owed to him, he didn't make the SB the other years because he played like s*** in the PO. He played like s*** in most of the PO games this yr but his team carried him, not the other way around.
  17. I agree with you, unless Hansen does a 180 in ST I think MDC will be on the roster with Hansen in AAA. Which I have no problem with. We will just have to wait and see what happens.
  18. O well there aint nothing we can do about it now, they changed there MO over the winter because staying in 3rd place won't keep the seats full. I look at the 5 game blunder as a turning point in the organization, hopefully for the better.
  19. We finally agree on something jackson!HAHAHAHA Heres to hope of a good competitve season!
  20. 10 days, 13h., 47m., 31s until Spring training gets rolling! Thank GOD!
  21. This joke was getting some good reviews, so I decided to bring it into the main stream topics, sorry if it pisses anyone off:D Red Sox/Yankees One foggy night, a Yankees fan was heading north from New York and a Red Sox fan was driving south from Boston While crossing a narrow bridge, they hit each other head-on, mangling both cars. The Red Sox fan manages to climb out of his car and survey the damage. He looks at his twisted car and says, "Man, I'm lucky to be alive!" Likewise, the Yankees fan gets out of his car uninjured, he too feeling fortunate to have survived. The Yankees fan walks over to the Red Sox fan and says, "Hey, man, I think this is a sign that we should put away our petty differences and live as friends instead of being rivals." The Red Sox fan thinks for a moment and says, "You know, you're absolutely right! We should be friends. In fact, I'm going to see if something else survived the wreck." The Red Sox fan then pops open his trunk and removes a full, undamaged bottle of Jack Daniel's. He says to the Yankee fan, "I think this is another sign we should toast to our newfound friendship." The Yankee fan agrees and grabs the bottle. After sucking down half of the bottle, he hands it back to the Red Sox fan and says, "Your turn!" The Red Sox fan calmly twists the cap back on the bottle, throws the rest of the bottle over the bridge into the river and says, "Nah, I think I'll just wait for the cops to show up.
  22. Manning could have thrown 8 picks and no tds and if they won he was going to get the MVP. Everyone has been on there knees sucking this guy off for two weeks. From all the storys on him finally making it, you would have thought he was on the team by himself. BTW how do you think Edge was feeling watching the Colts finally win without him why he was playing with his pud smoking a blunt in AZ?LOL
  23. NL West is Baseball's Glamor Division?!?! Maddux,Johnson,Gonzalez,Wells,Bonds, actually whole SF team, The NL west is not the glamour division, its more like a half way house for elderly players on the verge of retirement.
  24. Come on, they new last yr they didn;t have a special team. There was no one available that would have helped them(pitching). Soriano would have been nice fort he offense but would have cost three top prospects, the FO mailed it in last yr and looked forward to 07. There was nothing out there that would have helped the Sox make the playoffs, and in stead of making alot of trades and dumping the farm system in a last ditch effort they held on to them and threw in the towel without actually coming flat out and saying it. But they had to say something, and thats where the hole we are not the NYY thing came from. As far as Helton goes, Luchinno was they one pushing for the trade, Theo is trying to give this organization a rudder and direction by building from withing. Larry has Steinyitus, after winning one WS he wants to get an all star at every position and sell off all the young unproven talent. Think of it this way, would you want to sell off all the farm players and have a all star at every position like the NYY? Ya we have a great teamn ut no chemistry and always lose in the PO.
  25. Next yr where looking at, 1.Matsuzaka 2.Beckett 3.Paps 4.Lester We will have one spot to fill in the rotation(if Wak retires), which can be filled internally or buy a lower cost FA. The money Schilling wants might be ear marked for a 3B,1B or an OF. All I'm saying is don't hand that money to him now, see if he's worth it during the season, if so sign him next November, and if he isn't or jumps his price up then let him walk. I think there is enough talent in the rotation for us to have a rookie or a cheaper vet in the 5 spot. I just don't see them dishing out a good chunk of money to a player who seems to be declining, if they didn't do it for Pedro then I don't see them doing it for anyone, besides Clemens and he hasn't shown the decline Schilling has. If all else fails sign him now and if he sucks ass this yr we can ship him to AZ for some nice young prospects!(Johnson trade)
