  1. Ya I see that now. After my post's I read a couple newer articles stating that. Oh well, if the Yanks give him the $ he wants, theres no telling which Manny they will get. If they sign him at a discount, there is a chance he turns into "whiny, spoiled Manny". I don't see anyone getting the "LA Manny". He was playing for a paycheck, and when he gets it I think you see him return to "run when I feel like it Manny". There no way(IMO) he plays the rest of his career at the intensity he took to LA last season. And I think teams know that. Thats why there not giving him the guaranteed years, but giving him obtainable option years instead. They know if that carrot isn't dangling in front of him, theres no telling what they will get in return.
  2. LOL possibly worst photo for Beckett ever:D Must be nice to train in warm weather, my team has been doing indoor training for a month. And our 1st ST games so to speak are like 4 weeks away brrrrrrr......
  3. The Yankees are not allowed to sign anymore type A FA's(I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere). If he goes to NY, it will be with the Mets.
  4. Not sure about you guys, but I would be there at the earliest possible point year in and year out. I think Lester values the game in the same way. Some players just take it for granted.
  5. I'd rather they trade Buchholz and friends for Mauer. But I'd be on board for Bowden+ for Clement. Where would everyone rank Clement on a list of, Salty, Teagarden, Montero, Clement?
  6. Yes, but if Jojihma is the Horse in question, I'd rather they drowned him in the water it was lead too.....
  7. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/9170868/Report:-Red-Sox-owner-Henry-to-wed-30-year-old  Henry's something like a pimp. Get that pre-nup though buddy!
  8. I agree, the Sox have made some nice depth moves this offseason. Besides if he comes in and show cases in ST, and continues to hit well in the minors or wherever, he might be worth something come the TDL.
  9. . HSFF:shock:(Holy.Sweet.Flying.F***) If Seattle is throwing around Clement for that kind of price the Sox need to jump in ASAP or, maybe if Clement is dealt to the Twins, the Twins will trade Mauer:thumbsup:
  10. Nice post diony. Beckett did seem to have a rough go last year. I think there was 3 or 4 games in which the score ended up being 1-0 or 2-1, him being on the losing end of those games. I expect him to be a little close to 2007 form this up coming season. If I had to make an off hand prediction on his 09 season, I'd say 16-17 wins 6-7 losses, 3.7ish ERA right around the 200IP plateau, 180ish K's, and 40ish BB. That be a solid year for him. Dice-K worrys me though. I think he can continue to be great, but theres a part of me that thinks he is risky heading forward. The man throws an absolute ton of pitches for todays standard. I've really never seen a power nibbler before. It seems not to fall in line witht he Sox "perspective" on pitching. But he has managed to have success with it. I just hope his arm holds out. I see Dice-K's ERA going up to around 3.5 area. Which is still very good.
  11. I think Ital has the right idea. It's more of a how bad WMP was, then a how good Arroyo has been scenario. The Sox knew what Arroyo was when they traded him. So they took a chance on what WMP could be, if they could get him to put it all together. Just like they took a chance on Ortiz. And instead of it costing just money this time, it cost a #5 SP. Which I think most teams would give up for a 35+HR bat(which is probably close to what they Sox thought he might produce in a full time role and with their coaching). They could have done a whole lot worse then Arroyo too. Be thankful we didn't move a high upside pitching prospect or something. The Sox rolled the dice and came up snake eyes on the deal. But hey you have to gamble sometimes to hit it big. And knowing that I'm ok with a couple stinkers every now and then, if in the end there's a couple beautiful deals.
  12. This is a nice deal for the O's. Hill up until last season, was thought to be an up an coming LHP. This is a nice low risk hi reward type of trade.
  13. I guess he could be part of a deal for Montero. He could be AZ's back up. I don't see texas having interest. Not really sure who would want him.
  14. I didn't realize this but the signing of Tek might effectivley end Kottaras time with the Sox. He's out of options, and unless they send Bard down, they probably have to trade or DFA him.
  15. Baltimore has a solid lineup. They are like TB 2 years ago, solid lineup, shaky/young pitching.
  16. That's so sad. I don't see him there, especially if the rumors are true about a Rich Hill trade.
  17. So, Wie heeft er gewonnen?
