  1. If Ortiz took something it wouldn't be shocking, and I'd take the same line I have been for everyone else, who gives a s***. I'm not obsessed with numbers and records like some. Put a good product on the field and let er rip. At this point I wouldn't care if Dustin Pedroia was shoving mentos and diet coke up his ass for some sort of performance enhancement.
  2. Agreed. Every controversy needs a whistle blower, who's calling out everyone else to protect his own back side.
  3. Not sure. I think if players start finger pointing, they'll be opening a pandora's box. I think the union knows this, so I'm sure they will express that they feel like it would be best for everyone to stay quiet and not get caught up in this bee's nest.
  4. Hit the nail on the head. The only reason this is such a big issue is because of the records. Which is honestly kind of dumb. I mean there numbers, that's it, records for a kids game, played by adults.
  5. Arod's guilty of protecting his own ass, which makes him all those other things you listed. But I'm sure there is plenty of other douchebags waiting in the shadows to see if there outed.
  6.....Not really.....
  7. Anyone listen Bob Knight on Mike and Mike this morning? He had an interesting view. He was basically saying who decides what is a PED? In all fairness Gatorade can be considered a PED, or anything with electrolytes in it. I know theres a huge difference between gatorade and roids, but hopefully you can see the underlying point. I mean Mike Schmidt has admitted to using greenies. It was a common practice for them to be waiting for Football players in there lockers before games, to help get them up. I mean Red Bull for crying out loud is a PED. We just need to get over comparing players from different generations. Truth is each generation has had more advantages then the one previous, we just insist on always trying to compare them on a level playing field, when in truth that's just not reasonable. Babe Ruth couldn't sniff the majors today, the sooner we all understand this, the sooner the game can move on and enjoy what's on the filed now. Players are always going to be looking for an edge plain and simple, they always have, they always will.
  8. Ya weird story.
  9. That's pretty much the way I see it. Not sure if Oakland beats out LAA though.
  10. In any other sport it's almost a non issue, but if a Baseball player tests positive it's a crime against the sport. I say screw it, MLB should have it's own supplement/PED program, let all the other sports do it, and get the best physical specimens, for the best possible on field performance and sit back and enjoy:lol:
  11. Well the 500+ samples that tested negative are going to be re-tested by the Gov't with tests that cover a wider variety of PEDS. A lot more could now test positive then before.
  12. I can see this being true. It was a little to convenient. Please, I'm pretty sure he knew what he was doing. He may not be able to to the difference between it and a vitamin B shot, but I'm sure whoever was injecting him, told him what it was. If he really doesn't know what he tested positive for, he was taking multiple substances, and doesn't know which one triggered the positive test.
  13. Nice insight from Curt. I may not agree with what he says all the time, but I recognize his perspective and always find it interesting. He's building a nice bridge to the commentators booth/ ESPN/MLBNetwork ect.
  14. I agree Manny doesn't seem like he used, but if it comes out he did, the shock value will not be high for me personally.
  15. Douche...
  16. Welcome!
  17. LOL @ the thought if the Yanks trying to get rid of Arod. What team can afford him besides the Sox? Maybe LAD.
  18. Anyone actually take it look at his stats for 2003? They where actually worse then his 2002 season. As far as this steroid issue goes, sports/baseball is a form of entertainment, seems how I have no personal connection to any of these guys, I'm not sure I really care if anyone used anymore. I think the names should come out, so that the players who didn't use don't get grouped in with the players who did. As far as numbers and records go, it seems pitchers and hitters where using(not all, but from now on I'll lean more toward the majority was using instead of a minority of players), which seemingly would make it a level playing field. I think Maddux is the only player I know feel comfortable saying was likely not a user. Which in turn makes his accomplishments seem that much greater. To be throwing out ERA's under 2 in the middle of the steroid era is amazing. As far as the poll goes, I think it could go either way, he could use this as motivation, or he could crumble under the scrutiny of it all. Only time will tell. I guess in the end we all need to remember this is entertainment, a game we are talking about here, this isn't life or death situations we are debating. And for all the Sox fans loving every minute of this, don't forget this isn't always going to be just Yankees players. You never know who will be named next. Some of your favorite players might be outed at some point, so just remember that when taunting other people.
  19. This thread took a left turn down "f***ed avenue."
