  1. Doesn't mean they weren't interested. Maybe they weren't interested in the price. I'm not saying they ever were interested/scouting. Just that it was a possibility.
  2. No extension? No thank you. That's all we need. Trade Buchholz to Toronto and watch him dazzle for the next 5+ years. And then watch Halladay walk out of town possibly to the Yanks.
  3. LOL @ the Mets getting Halladay. Even if they some how pulled it off, they still have to score at least 1 run to win the game. That might be a tall order with all those injuries.
  4. But scouting them non the less.
  5. Guess the couldn't be scouting Wells or Rios either... You did say something about them being added to a Halladay deal right? Why would they not scout them? And maybe they are working on a deal that could cost them one of those BP arms. Be nice to have someone set up to replace them wouldn't it? Could be thinking a couple steps ahead:dunno:... Our would you rather see Hunter Jones in the pen?
  6. Or we could jump on and ride this guys career year and cash in on picks at the end of the season. If the price isn't too steep of course. I don't recommend trading anyone of real significance though.
  7. I believe it was because the Sox have 3 5IP pitchers who are currently and are bound to be exhausting the current BP for the rest of this year(this came from you...). Fresh arms in the BP possibly eliminates the need to overpay for a high profile SP. Yes Scuataro is over performing this season. Good thing the Sox would have him for only this season. Let someone else over pay for him after this and collect there picks. It's not like I'm advocating for a long term deal for this guy. You can dream about Lee and Halladay. But unless their respective asking prices come down, don't count on it.
  8. He's a good fit for this season. Plus they might be able to get picks for him in the off season. I don't think it will be a top 10 guy, but it will be more then what they had to give for Laroche if I had to bet.
  9. Not sure. I would bet maybe they were there for Scutaro. But they could have been there for all 3 of them plus a few others. Sox might have interest in Woods and Betancourt as well. If the Sox talk on Wells, who gets moved from the OF? Drew? Doubt it. Bay? I have been told this is absurd. Jacoby? I guess the Sox could give up on him. I am not so sure there ready to do that though. I think he's not a lead off hitter. At least for the Sox. He has shown a lot of value at the 7th spot though. His Defense in CF is near tops in the league. I just have a hard time see them move him I guess. Could Wells platoon the rest of this season, and take over in LF next season? I still have hard time believing the Jays will deal within the division. Especially when someone within the FO was quoted as saying Boston and NY are public enemies 1 and 1a. It would be a tough sell in Toronto. I also see it being difficult for the deal to get done without Buchholz. I guess if the Sox are eating Wells hole deal maybe. But if Buchholz has to be in the deal, I don't see Theo wanting to face him for the next 5+ seasons either. Then possibly watching Halladay go to the Yanks if the feel like overpaying for him. Buchholz in Toronto, Halladay in NY after 2010(if no extension can be negotiated), and Theo is left holding his sack. Not sure I see it happening:D
  10. I watched him pitch in the Futures game and was impressed. The kid has a future as a Pitcher. But given he has reached his innings limit, I'm fine with giving him a shot at SS. There are certain risks obviously, but with the depth in the system at the moment and his age I would say it's ok to go with it for now.
  11. Damon plays in a little league ball park. Don't let his power numbers fool you, no way he puts those HR numbers up in Boston. I still say it was a good move not topping the Yanks offer for him. The signed him to be the CF. He played like 1.5 years there and can only play LF on a regular basis now. Also it's easy to look like a catalyst when everyone behind you can hit a fly ball that leaves the park. He would actually have to run the bases and try and score from 1B for Boston. His legs would probably be dead by the AS break:D That said he probably would help to some extent because the only Sox hitter hitting for anything right now is Pedroia. If things don't work out for the Sox this off season in trying to bring in a long term solution in LF, I wouldn't mind Damon on a one year deal.
  12. But his batting average is .233.
  13. LOL Dice-K at 20M. Try 8M. I do enjoy you periodic rants though, always good for a laugh:thumbsup:
  14. Logic rarely coincides with Drew hatters.
  15. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/9834426/Jays-face-other-trade-deadline-decisions So ummm I still say he will cost something significant.
  16. 2004 OC? Or current OC? Thanks Jacko. I thought that I read somewhere he would be a type A, but I could have been mistaken. If your right. Maybe his price won't be a s high. But still may be pricey considering it's a inter division trade. I got this from MLBTR. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/07/elias-rankings.html Takes you straight to 2B/SShttp://www.scribd.com/full/17307814?access_key=key-b51zwnu6cmptu1y7vn6 Not sure it's 100%. But they have Scuataro as a type A.
  17. I don't think he will ever be the "Old" Mike Lowell. Jacko raises some valid concerns. Another procedure sounds likely. That means they might be going through this again next season. He may recover well, weirder things have happened. I don't think we as fans or the FO should bank on it though. Keeping Laroche or someone like him around through next season wouldn't be a bad idea.
  18. Duncan and a PTBNL? Might be Theo's best trade yet;)
  19. I was thinking Scutaro after reading the Sox had scouts at the Blue Jays vs Guardians series. It would make some sense. But it's probably going to be fairly expensive. I believe he will be a type A FA. I don't think Ellsbury is going anywhere. They may replace him at the lead off spot(which no one has hit good out of). But I think he's the CF for the foreseeable future.
  20. I don't see the Sox in on Lee or Halladay. Beyond them there isn't anything worth trying for. Maybe Bedard if he's healthy.
  21. I have a feeling that's it as well. As far as the Bay thing goes. I'm fine with them keeping him and seeing what happens. But if they were to trade him it wouldn't shock me. I could see it happening. If they make a trade that improves the every day offense that is. The only other spot I could see the dealing maybe is at SS. But I think they will give Lowrie a little longer. And no way they replace Tek mid season. Especially not when he's having a better year then last season.
  22. Nice to see Buchholz work out of a jam.
  23. LOL I didn't say he was worthless. I could easily be convinced about him. My fear is he is a pitcher that sits around 89-91MPH. He's not overpowering like Lester. And LHP's that aren't overpowering don't tend to fair well in Fenway. Maybe he's different. If it doesn't cost Buchholz, I can be sold.
