  1. Of got a couple scenario's cooking. Have to gauge what kind of mood your in before I start LOL I also heard Gammons on ESPNRadio, and he brings up Adrian Gonzalez. I admit it's a long shot. But I've heard multiple rumblings about this in the past couple days. It seems to be gaining a little momentum. I'm not sold either way, just thought I'd mention it because I think it was Gammons I first heard bring it up recently.
  2. The Mets going broke helps me with my hypothetical off season scenario I'm working on:D There gonna need to retool on the go, or maybe dump salary if it get's worse.
  3. I'd rather have Tex the Lowell. But Tex not signing with the Sox isn't the be all end all. This is still a championship caliber team.
  4. I've also been thinking Smoltz might be better in the Pen. He would be a fresh arm in a BP that has been used a good amount. It would help having him there to eat some innings down the stretch.
  5. Good point:D But he may not have too. There might be plenty of people around here wanting to replace him. It will all depend on his play. The ultra over reactive will want him replaced if he doesn't produce and the Sox fall short of a WS. The over protective will want to keep him and let him finish out his deal because he's " earned" it. If the Sox win a WS or he shows he's healthy and can play everyday, he probably get's a pass from everyone until the TDL next season:D Or until a big name becomes available this offseason(I already have a name in mind, but I've got to do some more research on it because it's a doozy even for me LOL Might even be worthy of it's own thread, don't want to clutter up this thread with my expected response.). Then some will be packing his bags and driving him to the airport. I think it would be a good idea to get an insurance plan for this season. Not a big time player. Someone who can platoon, or play everyday if Lowell shits the bed. Then come the offseason, due the normal re-evaluation of the team needs and go from there.
  6. His ability to K batters at almost will bailed him out of some sticky situations.
  7. You might want to pass on him and collect the picks. I would imagine he's close to type A? Posada is going to need some time at DH eventually to help keep him fresh over the course of the season. And if the Yanks are going to sign Bay or Holliday, PA's might become harder to come by. But at 3-5M, it's hard not to think that be a good move. My guess is he hit's FA, and ends up in SF. Sabean is due to overpay a veteran hitter soon anyways:D
  8. Some other favorites, " My name is Duke Nukem - and I'm coming to get the rest of you alien bastards!" "Nobody steals our chicks... and lives!" " You're an inspiration for birth control."
  9. I don't think this is the best or the worst we might see from him. Give him around a month and we will probably have a clearer view of what he will and won't be able to do.
  10. Everyone's view might change if he starts rolling into double plays that are completed before he takes 4 steps:D I normally don't worry about "clogging the base paths" either. But with Ortiz, Lowell, and Tek, things tend to slow down a bit. Will it be the undoing of the team? I highly doubt it. I see it becoming very annoying quirks that will be brought up during losses and looked over during the games the Sox win.

  12. His fall off from the start of the season is worrying to some extent. I've been all for getting him re-signed, but am starting to lean towards another direction. What that direction is I'm not sure. If they could get him at around 12M a season for 3 or 4 years then sure. But if he's going to cost 15M+ it might be better to let him walk. There's no telling who might become available via trade come November/December. Teams might be looking to dump salary. Or the Sox could finally be willing to move some of their young pitching. Then throw Matt Holliday in there. The market might not be as hot on him as Boras would have wanted. We can expect his normal antics I would assume though. Wanting the Moon and Stars. But reality might set in and Holliday might be had at a reasonable price. I'd take him at 10-12M a season, before Bay at 16M or 17M(or whatever the Yankees offer him) at this point in time.
  13. 4-4 in his debut. He might have been a nice addition for the red Sox. He's versatile and can hit lead off. I'm actually surprised they weren't in on him.
  14. Just adding my .02 here. I'm going to try and find it, but I read an article a couple years back. It was about a fairly high profiled player that was from the Dominican. It stated that Minaya really pushed the Hispanic/Latin angle while trying to lure the player to the Mets. So much though, that it actually put the player off on the Mets. It might have been Arod when he opted out in 07. I don't know if he is racists of whatever. He does tend to lean towards the Latin line a bit. But a good majority of the top players are Latin, so there isn't anything conclusive there. In the end like it was said, if he does run his team like this, it's only his organization that suffers.
  15. Probably mostly singles if I had to wager. And when you can only move base to base, it doesn't help a lot.
  16. Smoltz did ok until the 6th last night. He might be better suited for the BP though.

  18. They have a couple trade chips in Teahen, Dejesus, Jacobs and Guillen.
  19. The Mets are dead set on not trading Fernando Martinez.
  20. You managed to get Zobrist's name in to a post that was supposed to be about a pick you regretted making the most.
  21. If Teahen can pull his weight he might find himself a long term gig in Boston at 3B. As far as his cost? Hard to gauge. Maybe a couple low level guys. A "B" level type prospect might be enough. It won't cost any of the big name guys though.
