  1. This quote is not logical. The Phillies GM was hired last off season to replace the GM that was retiring. You know the guy who built this WS contending team lol Anways a 700 you are and will probably always remain the only on the site who wants to trade Buchholz at this point. You are just a young player hater and will always prefer the verteran. Just like in the cases of Pedroia, Ellsbury, Youkillis(any others I'm forgetting?). Given your track record I would imagine Buchholz will be a Cy Young contender next season;)
  2. Sorry I read it wrong, that's what I get for trying to read and write posts in between hands(playing poker).
  3. Who's mine or his?
  4. If the Yanks didn't have Tex, he would be right in the middle of things, saying how the Yankees can offer a better package, because they are closer to MLB ready then what the Sox could offer or something to that extent.
  5. Yes of course those numbers will hold off those pesky critics if he chokes in the WS. Just like his regular season numbers and MVP awards excused his previous ineptitude in the playoffs...
  6. I really like what your saying here. It's a very reasonable view of things. I know you like Felix too.So let me ask you this, Who would you rather have? Would rather get AG, or see a 3 team deal that lands Felix with AG going to Seattle? I'm not trying to get all " pipe dream", just who you would prefer.
  7. No argument there. I fully agree. The Pedro thing is an isolated incident.
  8. He's starting game 2 in NY. I am actually really looking forward to this game now. I am really interested to see what he can bring. I for one obviously hope he pitches great for multiple reasons. 1. being it would mean the Yankees probably lose the game, and 2. maybe it would make Theo consider him for next season in the 5 spot. I have never been very nostalgic. I understand how today's game works and I fully except it. But there have always been 2 players I would like to see in a Boston uniform again, more for the story/nostalgic reasons then anything. And that's Nomar and Pedro.
  9. I've been an Ellsbury supporter from the word go. He is one of my favorite players, and I find him very exciting to watch. And think he should be the CF for a long time. But I agree with 100%, your post is spot on when it comes to his defense.
  10. If the Sox don't go out and get a young frontline SP like Felix, I think they will try to extend Beckett this off season. It would behoove them to try at least. If he comes out and has a huge contract year, your looking at 20M + a year deal for certain. Right now I think they could sign him for something less the CC but on par or more the AJ.
  11. It was reported I believe he registered with the WBC as being 26 years old. But who really knows?
  12. Because Ricky Henderson is famous for talking about himself in the 3rd person.
  13. What's everyone's opinion on Chapman?
  14. I'm cool with Big Mac coming back. I think he got a semi raw deal with the whole steroid issue. No matter what side your on, you have to admit to some extent the MLB knew about the Steroids and ignored it and road Mark and Sammy as they brought baseball back to greener pastures. And then turn their backs on them and let them take the heat when it became an issue. McGwire was a pretty decent hitter with a good eye. Teaching patients and pitch selection will only help St. Louis's line up. Bringing Big Mac back has a lot of intangibles too. He has worked with Holliday. it could have been part of the negotiations in the Larussa dealings. It's been long enough and enough other big name players have been outed to were McGwire should be able to coach and not be the focal point of the team. I like this move.
  15. Who cares, Phillips a tool. Maybe they keep the "white hair former GM" theme going and bring in Towers.
  16. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4594666 Haven't found a link yet but listening to DC101's "Elliot in the Morning" and they reported Phillips has signed himself in to some sort of rehab to work out his "personal issues". But I haven't found a link yet so digest with salt. Edit: http://www.usatoday.com/sports/baseball/2009-10-25-phillips-fired-by-espn_N.htm?csp=34
  17. Acta is a good choice. Don't hold his Nationals days against him. Remember Tito and Torre both sucked until they got some players to work with. Which Cleveland should provide. Any Guardians fan with half a brain should be psyched for this move.
  18. BJ Upton plays about as shallow in CF as I have seen. But he gets great jumps and reads balls very well.
  19. I just read the Hoyer to SD story. I think this makes the chances of a deal better. Hoyer probably has a good understanding of who he can get from Boston. And he may value certain players in the organization differently then some other GM's would. If a deal was to go down, the package could be far different then anyone might have expected. I won't say a deal is imminent, just that the % points of a deal happening might have be higher then when Towers was the GM. Should be interesting though:thumbsup: I'm ok with JP being assistant GM.
