  1. Listen this may be a dumb question, but what were Rocco's injurys this season? I remember something with the quad when he was at 3B(running), and there was something else I believe. Non of it had to do with his medical issues did it? Was he never not available because of it this season?
  2. Have you ever watched Buchholz pitch? Or know anything at all about him? Tazawa is a nice young pitcher. But to say so easy he will be Buchholz's equivalent is a large stretch at this point in time.
  3. WEEI's Rob Bradford reports that Tim Wakefield is set to have surgery on the herniated disc in his back next week, likely on Wednesday. Why is this good news? Not only have the doctors told Wakefield that the surgery won't hinder his ability to get ready for next season, but Boston GM Theo Epstein indicated that, assuming all goes well, Boston will likely exercise the $4MM team option they hold on Wakefield.
  4. This was one of the very few hang ups on Hollidays there was for me.
  5. I read that Theo gave the Guardians permission to interview JF for the managers spot. If JF leaves, I was wondering who you guys thing the PC should be? I'm thinking with the teams tendency to like SP reclamation projects, Dave Duncan could be a perfect match. But I admit there would have to be a couple scenarios that play out before all that went down. Was just a thought, hadn't seen it discussed anywhere, and didn't figure it need it's own thread.
  6. He lacks Buchholz FB. But I would imagine he will gain some velocity over the next couple years as he gets older and gets some man muscle.
  7. At least one more:lol:
  8. Drat, you have cracked my master scheme:D Outside of about 7 players, I could be on board for trading every Sox player on the roster for the right deal. But that's just me.
  9. I'd be up for a 1 year Sheets or Harden deals.
  10. You honestly couldn't tell I was joking? You think I really think I deserve to be working at ESPN? Fine I'll make it more obvious then. Is your hatred of me so blinding you can't use common sense? Or is it really easier to believe I want actual credit and a job at ESPN for the" Papelbon trade idea" over me probably kidding around and making a joke at Steve Phillips expense by comparing his reporting skills to that of a message forum poster? Did I really just have to explain that? Come on man... Your a real tool sometimes
  11. Anyone know anything about the Pitcher they were scouting?
  12. Way to get the scoop Phillips:rolleyes: Did I not say like 3 months ago the Sox would shop Papelbon? Damn where is my ESPN contract? lol(Sarcasm) I don't want them to move him for a bag of balls, the return better be good. That said, I think if Papelbon was a closer for any other team the opinion of him would be a lot different around here. His walk totals tripled, it seemed like a lot of his outing were "unclean", and he seemingly has given up on anything but FB's. Not saying he's garbage or anything like that, but there are a few ? marks about him is all I'm saying. Papelbon/Bowden/Reddick/Anderson for Hanley!
  13. Listen I know Lackey is a good SP. I guess I'm just used to the Sox tuning him up. And I don't like his injury history. Same reason I was iffy on giving AJ "AJ type" money. I guess I could get on board, but I hope they try a few other things first. Lackey's probably the best SP available, so it's not like he will sign too quick.
  14. What? Are you drunk? I guess I'm just not that high on Lackey. He seems to be a power pitcher, who's power is fading IMO. But thats just from the eyeball test and some of the games I have happened to see him pitch in(outside of game 1 lol)
  15. Trevor Hoffman, just playing devil's advocate:D I agree with Dipre and Kilo on this one. exp1 makes a great poinst about Holliday vs Bay that I am in agreement with. I remember when I first joined that one of my first "wishlist" type of post was a trade for Matt Holliday. Might have been around the same time as the Helton rumors. And like exp1 said, he is available. I think the Sox really make a strong push for him. I think they offered Bay deals that they ultimately knew he would reject. And if he didn't they would be getting him on the cheap so to speak, so it was ok. It's like they were prepping their plan B in case plan A(Holliday) blows up in their faces.
  16. He was never coming back to Boston. I was hoping for the picks though.
  17. http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/mets/wagner_eyes_retirement_not_th_career_z64F7ZAhNUPX55NAGaroEN Really?
  18. Anyone heard anything about Sheets? He might be a decent 1 year deal type guy for the #5 spot IMO.
