  1. This is an interesting thought. The Sox don't seem to need a catcher right now, but Toronto is said to want a Catcher in any possible deal. Just speculating. Connecting the dots so to speak.
  2. Minnesota could trade Young. He has been mentioned as being available. It's probably not a straight up trade though. St. Louis needs a 3B, don't really have a contract to send back though. Seattle needs 3B, Bill Hall could be a candidate. He probably could manage the utility role. LAA is probably the least likely Detroit could send Back Magglio Baltimore needs a 3B, but don't have contract to send back Cleveland has Marte right now.. meh.. Westbrook has a similar deal left, he might be an interesting option for the #5 spot if healthy. Peralta has a decent size contract. May not be the best fit. I'm not saying it would be easy to move him. Just not impossible. Last report was there was at least 3 teams interested.
  3. Just look for a team with a need @ 3B and a similar contract to send back.
  4. So a team needing a 3B and has a contract close to the value of Lowell's? I wonder who could be his suitors? Is Magglio for Lowell insane? It would shave another 6M off Detroits payroll I believe. Just throwing it out there.
  5. We know. You don't like any move that isn't a blockbuster
  6. Is Seattle serious? That is very little incentive to sign an extension. Isn't he arb eligible? If this is really the case, what do you think about Seattle's chances of signing Felix are now Dipre?
  7. Works for me. Be a nice way to supplement some of the power loss on the RH side with Bay leaving and Hermida slotted to be in LF at the moment. Ellsbury Pedroia V-Mart Youk Drew Beltre Ortiz Hermida Scutaro (subject to reshuffling of course) It's not the best lineup in the league. But it should be good enough if the rotation manages to pitch efficiently for the most part.
  8. They have "expressed" interest in everyone at this point. Coco is going to want to have a chance to start. Don't see him coming to Boston to be the 4/5th OF. Although I do see the value in having him on the bench.
  9. I personally rather they Keep Buchholz. I could be convinced into trading Kelly. But I won't be upset if they don't. The overall cost of Halladay is to high IMO. If it was just $(like it could be next off season) or just prospects(as in they get more then one year of him before having fork over $) it would be ok. But it's not. This an even easier pass then the Johan talks for me personally. I'd rather the Sox stand pat then trade off their promising young players for a mid 30's SP that needs a fat contact. Yes, that probably means not a very exciting off season, but oh well, the Sox don't have to make a splash to appease me. I'll hope for a possible Holliday signing or a trade for a player entering his prime(not leaving it). And if that doesn't happen I will be more then happy to cheer on the current team that is constructed.
  10. Anyone have any background on this guy?
  11. He never will get it. I commend you for your continuing efforts though. But your better off arguing with a stop sign. a700's Yank-itus flares this time of year. If he's not given his shiny new toys(players) and promised a WS title every year, he tends to get grouchy.
  12. Smoak has super star potential. And Feliz is one of the top pitching prospects in the game, with Ace potential. The fact the Marlins didn't just at this deal(if it is indeed what is being reported) is puzzling. Do they think they can get more? I mean two top flight prospects is nothing to sneeze at. Maybe they are committed to JJ long term, but don't want to sign a deal this off season:dunno:
  13. I knew he would be going to NESN in some capacity. Made too much sense. Covering your favorite team to wrap up a HOF carrer ain't too shabby either.
  14. NESN
  15. What? Is the Tigers GM on meth?
  16. Did anyone notice the most important part of the trade? Stink's son got traded!
  17. I know what your saying. But is a 4 ERA that bad for a #3?
  18. He was probably due a regression. I would wager moving to the NL West might stem that flow to some degree though.
  19. He doesn't need to be. If Webb is healthy he will be the #3. This was probably their best way of getting a SP since they don't have the money to bring in FA's. Kennedy could very well end up being a nice #5 for them too.
