  1. Lowell's OBP has been .337 and .338 the last two years. So in a 1000 AB's Lowell will get on base 18 more times then Beltre. OMG how could the Red Sox ever survive such an offensive drop off? Let's ignore also Beltre is what 5 years younger, has more power potential and at this point is probably the better defender in the field. Figgins SS really? You don't think he would have already been marketing himself as one if that was the case? It would probably double(exaggeration) his contract demands.
  2. Ken Rosenthaul is a bit of a tool also. There all saying(sports writers) Scutaro is going to the Sox because the Sox need a SS and he is arguably the best available. Scutaro might be in Boston next year, but it seems the Sox are doing everything they can to lower his price. I bet the Sox are trying to get him to a one year deal with an option.
  3. I don't think so. See the Yankees last season. I know there are some guide lines for it, but I don't believe they would lose those picks. I think the only picks you can lose are your teams actual picks. Not the ones they have been compensated for. Not 100% though.
  4. Maybe add a day game to the WS. Change the starting times to reasonable times, it be nice if the kids growing up could see the end of a game. Do not let the f***ing WS run into November(absolutely ridiculous). Mandatory double headers(4-5 a year), that should help shorten up the season. A "floating" cap. Instant replay needs to be expanded. And get rid of the " Gentlemen" group crap with the Owners. If Mark Cuban wants to be an owner, baseball should be jumping at the opportunity. Sports need more owners like him Like I said not much.
  5. The Yankees are always in win now mode, no matter the core. With their ability to throw money around they honestly should never have to worry about the window closing.
  6. I could get on for O Dawg as well. The Sox might be able to get him on a 2 year deal, with maybe an option. Although I am concerned about why the Dodgers were starting Belliard over him. Was he injured? Not hitting? Being a douche?
  7. Well if worst come to worst, Pedroia can play SS for 2 years then flip back to 2B when/if Iglesias is ready to take over. Or maybe someone becomes available over the next two years that isn't available now. Brandon Phillips would be ideal. Good bat, great glove and makes enough to where it might lower the cost in prospects. Cincy was mentioned earlier this off season as wanting to cut payroll. Maybe the Sox take on Phillips and Harang. Harang might be a decent 5th starter. He makes 12.5M next season and 12.75 with a 2M buy out in 2011. Phillips is under team control for 3 years. His price tag jumps after next season though from 6.75M to 11M in 2011. He has a 12M option for 2012 with a 1M buy out. That's a decent amount of cash and could really relieve the Reds. So I doubt it would take a big package of prospects.
  8. I just realized that Theo possibly spun Chris Carter into the #20 pick and a supplemental 1st rounder.
  9. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/10460524/Source:-Braves,-closer-Wagner-agree-to-deal Frodo behind the story. Is there anyone the Braves have been linked to that is higher then Wagner as far as type A status goes? edit: Also it's the #20 pick as of now.
  10. Listen man I'm not trying to be a dick, but for the love of God can you please start using the "quote" function for your post's. Maybe I'm just forgetting about some rule about newer users or something, but if you don't know about it, it's in the bottom right of everyone's post, it's better then just highlighting the sentence with bold letters. This is just my personal opinion, but I think Roy Halladay is the "panic" button move of the off season. I think Trading Buchholz for anyone not named Felix or Grienke at this point would be very ill advised. I also believe the only way Roy goes to NY is if the Sox make a big splash some how. Something of like the sign Holliday and manage to trade for an upper tier talent, whether it be hitter or pitcher. It seems just the kind of move Hank-y poo would do to for a counter. Besides that I see him heading to some NL team. I'm still holding out for the Rockies getting their s*** together and realizing with him and a bat they could probably take the NL West.
  11. This is why no one takes you seriously. Why even comment on the topic? Do you just like to see yourself type? Or do you have nothing better to do while your porn downloads?
  12. Ok, so what are you thinking, 7-8? I mean this is Boras. And Beltre made 12M last season. And fangraphs has his value for 2009 at 10.7M. And 18.7M for 2008.
  13. Not a bad option for an IF. I would hope they would at least check in on Brandon Phillips though. This could all be a smoke screen to help the Sox leverage in trade discussions.
  14. I find it hard to get past you challenging anyone's credibility. Not saying I have any, but really do you think anyone here is going to actually take to heart anything you say about credibility?
