  1. I think both will be right around 50. The Red Sox don't typically run a lot. Ellsbury is coming off of injury. This is Crawford 1st season not playing his home games on a track field. I also expect Crawford's attempts to go down. I think it will help keep his speed longer. Speedy players that spent the beginning of their career on turf tend to have issues later on. I'll take Ellsbury for the win. But not by leaps and bounds.
  2. I think people tend to forget he pitched that many innings because they were so mediocre, and not what everyone was expecting from him. Well most everyone.
  3. They will put $ into the team. Not every sent though. They're good business men. They do want to make $. But they wouldn't have bought the team unless they thought they could do so. If the team is near the top in revenue, then I would expect them to be one of the bigger spenders in the division. If they are in the middle, expect them to be in the middle spending wise. So on and so forth. As a fan of a franchise that had been trying to win the Championship forever, I could not be happier with this ownership group. I would actually be really upset and worried if they all the sudden left and sold the team. You should be excited this ownership group is at the helm of your team. But I can see why your a skeptic because of the last ownership group. But they where s*** in baseball as well. The ownership knows that to generate the revenue the team will need to win. SO they will put competitive clubs on the pitch. They will give the franchise the chance to win. But in the end the players and coaching staff still have to perform. The Sox season results of gone like this so far, 2003- 1 game from the Championship series. 2004- Won the Championship. 2005- In the playoffs(I am of the belief this is really all you can honestly hope for year after year, in the playoffs and a chance to win the championship). 2006- Missed the Playoffs. 2007- Won the Championship. 2008-2009- In the playoffs. 2010- Missed the playoffs. And after going 80+ years with nothing, I am perfectly happy with this. Of course I want them to win every year. But I am reasonable enough to know that it is improbable to accomplish this.
  4. My initial reaction was one of head scratching like Dipre. But if Bautista puts up a 2nd solid season in a row, he could have been looking at a "Werth" type deal upon hitting the open market. And if you consider that, the deal doesn't seem as bad. But still it's pretty risky for a team that has been able to shed 2 really bad contracts in the last 18 months.
  5. Don't expect the NESV group to spend $ just to spend $, especially to appease fans. They will horde their chips and use them when the right player comes along at the right price. This drives some Red Sox fans nuts because it can lead to "bridge type" seasons. But in the long run it is a better way of building a team.
  6. I was just pointing out that using a players base running abilities as an argument for how valuable he is, is a bad point to use when the argument is about the players inability to get on base. Bare running means absolute sqwadoosh if your not on base to begin with. I think Crawford will be a good player overall. Just won't be shocked if he's held in check by the better LHP in the league. Pal, what Offensive flaws from Beltre? The park is catered to someone like him. And to think he would improve after leaving the Hitters paradise(sarcasm) that is Safeco park was not a big stretch. Iglesiais offense is ignored because of his elite defense and the fact he won't be counted on as a middle of the lineup hitter. Crawfors catches more flack because he is going to be a top of the order type hitter and counted on to be a big producer for the offense. Overall I think we should all relax and enjoy Spring Training and let things play out a bit before we take to hard a stance on anything.
  7. You have to be able to get on base to capitalize on that particular skill set.
  8. In there like swim wear!
  9. Pujols makes little sense for either team. But if CC opted out and left the Bronx we all know Hank and Hal would be trying to compensate somehow. So I guess anything is possible :dunno: I still think he signs with the Nationals.
  10. I don't think he hits 50. He could settle in around 30 though. But this is a big roll of the dice for the Jays after so many well orchestrated moves this off season.
  11. I don't care if you flip burgers at MCD's. If you drink and drive your an fing idiot. Your license should be taken on the spot for good and if you lose your job because of it, tuff tits. Don't be a tool and it won't be a problem. There is absolutely no excuse for anyone to drink and drive. Maybe if they upped the penalties people would get a clue.
  12. I don't know about you Dipre, but part of the class I had to pass to get my license included drinking and driving awareness. And even if it isn't taught everywhere, a trained monkey knows drinking and driving is one of the stupidest things you can do. I would say the same thing if someone got all coked up and drove. Yes they may be an addict, but I would still call them stupid for driving under the influence.
  13. He is not stupid for being an alcoholic. He's stupid for getting behind the wheel of an automobile drunk. I don't care if your an alcoholic with a problem or an amateur that got tipsy. The act of getting behind the wheel intoxicated is "Stupid". The guy obviously needs help. The Tigers better be scrambling to do so. And a700 I agree, I can see his lawyer pulling something like that.
  14. Fing Idiot. He should be suspended(without pay)to help wake him the F up. Absolutely ridiculous. An example needs to be made.
  15. Get it done! Won't expect anything to get done before April for LT purposes. Between then and the end of the season we could be looking at announcement of contract extensions for Agon and Buchholz
  16. BSN07

    Pujols

Why? They would have a young elite bat to build around. If anything, Holliday provides some insurance.
  17. BSN07

    Pujols

I left the Brewers off because they don't even have enough $ to re-sign Fielder it seems.
  18. BSN07

    Pujols

So the so called deadline has passed and he has not signed. ZWhere does everyone think he will end up. Of course I would love to see him and Agon rotating at 1B/DH and have them sitting 3-4 in the lineup(probably the best 3-4 combo ever lol). But my guess is he is a National this time next year.
  19. After watching the Joba yo-yo debacle, I am weary of trying to convert Bard. And it's not like the Sox are hurting for SP at the moment.
  20. Add Salt before consumption.
  21. Dudes always been fluffy. Surprised your surprised.
