  1. Any excuse to get Nava's name in there
  2. A Vlad/Ortiz platoon would be nice. Not sure it's worth it considering some of the intangibles. The wasted roster spot you spoke of. Ortiz reaction to being platooned. I know he is probably going to be platooned to some extent anyways this season. But as it stands he will probably see some AB's Vs LHP this season. And that maybe be enough to coddle Ortiz's ego enough to where he's not bitching about not being in there everyday. If it's obvious he will be seeing very little to no AB's against LHP and might very well piss Ortiz off. And why piss in his Cheerios before ST? It's not like if they need a RHH at some point this season there won't be any available. I don't know maybe I'm looking into Ortiz's possible reaction. On the surface I think adding Vlad wouldn't be a bad thing for this team.
  3. I don't know why. I think having a rotation of R L(or L R) through out the line up is more of a luxury then necessity.
  4. Just my .02 but I don't see how Haren would have handicapped the Yankees from getting Lee. He makes 12.75M a year. That's about average for a Yankee player. Cashman just said he never has a problem going to ownership for more money. If they Lee wanted to be in NY, the Yankees would have signed him regardless of Haren and his salary being on the team.
  5. That was almost my exact same thought reading through that post. Iglesias has ? about his bat. Lowrie has ? about his health. Nothing ground breaking or controversial there. IMO the most likely scenario is Iglesias starts about 1/2 the games at SS in 2012. While Lowrie plays the other half at SS and gets about 40-50 games between 2B/3B/1B/DH and some AB's in the PH role. Let's not lose all logic and reason because it's late January
  6. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/yankees/2011/01/22/2011-01-22_yankees_gm_brian_cashman_might_want_to_leave_bombers_and_finally_have_a_chance_t.html?page=1 You guys think there is any chance Cashman leaves at the end of the year?
  7. But discussions like this are what keeps sites like this one going.
  8. Nice to see the Royals spending that extra cash from Meche on a good player.
  9. Napoli and Juan Rivera going to Toronto. Nice trade by AP. Wells I think can be decent with a change of scenery. Not sure he will ever be worth what he is paid. But I guess LAA's owners get's to say he added a big contact this off season. Will be interested to see how much $ is swapping hands.
  10. Good signing. I think he will work well as the Yankees 4th OF.
  11. They where earlier in the off season according to reports. Not sure where he fits in now if he wants a Major League deal. If he will accept a Minor league deal and start the season in AAA, the Sox could bring him in. Always nice to have depth when 3/5 of the rotation consists of the time bomb that is Lackey's elbow, and 2 guys in Beckett and Dice-K that can either give you 200IP or take multiple trips to the DL.
  12. Doubont yes. Let's not pencil in Tazawa in for anything yet. I haven't even heard anything on him lately. But I guess no news is good news. But non the less as it stands the Sox probably don't have much room for Galarragra unless he want to start in AAA. And not sure why this is being bought up in the Beckett thread?
  13. You did see the side note right? I said if the manage to get a good SP at some point this season(something I almost expect really) they would be in. I picked Oakland right now because as it stand the Yankees rotation is probably not good enough to get them to the playoffs. But if Hughes continues along his progression, AJ manages a decent year and they Add a top half of the rotation SP, they will be in and dangerous team to deal with.
  14. AL East(I think Low to mid 90's win total takes the division) Boston NYY TB/TOR/Baltimore, Choose any order you want for these 3. I expect them to be all right around 75-80 wins. AL Central Chicago Minnesota Detroit KC Cleveland AL West Texas Oakland LAA Seattle NL East Philadelphia Atlanta Florida DC NYM NL Central Milwaukee St. Louis Cincinnati Chicago Houston Pittsburgh NL West SF Colorado SD LAD AZ AL Playoff teams Boston, Chicago, Texas and Oakland(NYY if they pick up a good SP at some point this season). NL Playoff teams Philadelphia, Milwaukee, SF, St. Louis
  15. The fact they even considered this for longer then half a heart beat, would have me worried if I am a Yankees fan. His name should have never even come up. And whomever mentioned him should have been fired on the spot.
  16. Bard is the more promising arm. But let's not forget he has been primarily a set-up man. He hasn't closed games on a consistent basis yet. And we shouldn't just assume it will be a seamless transition. I wouldn't mind them giving Bard a shot to Close. But if Paps comes back after a decent year, I'm fine with them keeping Bard in the 8th inning spot where he's been dominant. I was probably one of the first beating the" trade Papelbon drum" because he wants huge money and they will never be able to re-sign him. But his value has come down out of the clouds and the market has changed. Especially with Soriano and Mo being already signed in NY. So I have stop beating that drum and am waiting the season out to see how it goes and whether or not I want them to bring him back next year and beyond.
  17. Would it be worth it to bring him to NY?
  18. There are some good RP on the market next season. But non of them are far and away better then Paps. And I don't think many of them have done it in the AL East. It maybe a more "go with what you know" scenario next off season when it comes to the BP.
  19. That's why your diony. Not a GM
  20. I've been on the "get rid of Papelbon wagon" for awhile because he sometims can be infuriating to watch. But even I'm ok with them bringing him back on a reasonable deal. That is if he improves from last year. I think if he cuts down on his BB/9 and finds the location with something other then his FB, he will be good.
