  1. Sorry Kilo...I'll go check it out now.
  2. I don't see how this is a "strawman". You like to pull that term out...but the thread raises the question of whether Ortiz is being shopped or not. Bosox21 states that he thinks its ridiculous to think about trading him due to one bad season. Seems like a valid point....o king of Straw.
  3. Ok...show highlights.... He realizes that the Yankees aren't CC's first choice, saying he's a California boy at heart...but he implied that he hopes the money is enough to make him forget about the surf and the sun. No news there. The loss of Mussina is huge, but it was to be expected, and that it changed his game plan. "It's hard to replace 200 innings and 20 wins" is what he said. Swisher is the everyday 1B. However, he hasn't closed the door on Tex, and it's the flexibility of Swisher that was desirable and highly coveted. The shocker of the deal is this...this started in the summer. I had no idea he had targeted Swisher in the summer. No mention of Manny whatsoever.
  4. This is real interesting. I'll give an update after the show.

    Mussina retires

You still buy this playoff ********? Where was it for Beckett? Ortiz? Lester? They got beat by a team that had no one on it's starting team that had an inkling of post-season success. He pitched as well as he could down the stretch. Good enough for me. He couldn't have done any worse than Beckett did in the post-season this year. My point is that you have to take post-season success or failure, especially if it is in limited action, with a grain of salt.
  6. Profit, not payroll.

    Mussina retires

This was the funniest s*** I've heard in weeks. My stomach hurts from laughing so hard...
  8. I agree with pretty much everything you've said here ORS, especially the point of each $/VORP point costing more than the previous point. However...why can't the Red Sox afford all their players? They are the 2nd richest team in baseball.

    Mussina retires

I agree. Over the course of years, this won't be a big loss. For one year, this is a HUGE loss. However, if we sign CC, I'd consider us right back where we were before Moose retired. Over the course of next season, CC won't do better than Moose did, and will probably do worse. Right now, our team looks worse than it did last year. Of course...we've only just begun free agency.
  10. Just realize..the two moves our teams have made, Swisher and Coco...came out of left field, so to speak. When teams are involved, talking about...etc., I discount it. It's the moves you aren't hearing about that are the ones likely to happen.
  11. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/8818830/Yanks'-Mussina-to-retire-after-first-20-win-season Hat's off to one of the good guys in baseball in the last 20 years. Shame he never won it all. I hope he makes the HOF.
  12. Crunchy...a 4th OF or a reliever that's part of your bullpen rotation? Not to mention knocking a few million off of your books. This puts a close to "By the end of Damon's contract, we'll have a better OF in Crisp" mantra.
  13. What you, Crespo fail to see, and what Jacko has never seen...is that in theory, of course, I am 100% behind the idea of building from within. My problem isn't the plan, just the person implementing it. When the Yanees didn't get Johan, Cashman spoke about signing CC [not directly, obviously] while keeping his prospects. Now he may keep the prospects, which blew up in his face, and not getting the star player he was shooting for. Like the Cole drafting earlier...they didn't realize that Cole's father was a billionaire who wanted him to go to school. These "happenings" seem to be occurring with a very high rate of frequency under his watch. I think we can agree that a 1st place team attracts high-end free agents more effectively than a 3rd place team. Look, if he signs CC and Burnett, and gets either Tex or Manny, he's more than made up for his mistakes last year. I'll be the first one to admit it. What I asked Jacko is...when will he jump off the Cashman wagon? I've already told you when I'll jump on his wagon if he gets two pitchers and a hitter. When will he jump off?
  14. This is a steal by the Red Sox. Nice move by Theo.
  15. I'm not that sentimental. It would be nice, but not at the expense of of losing one of the top 5 1B in the game.
  16. I traded with you, didn't I? I accepted the deal.
  17. He makes good deadline deals when it comes to salary dumps. Correct. He had a poor draft this year, signing only one out of the top three. Fact. He has a very poor draft record. Since he has been GM, the Yankees have not drafted a single position player nor full season pitcher. Fact [although this will probably change if Joba stays healthy]. He had the youth movement of Kennedy, Hughes, and Chamberlain blow up in his face so badly, he scrapped it after one season. Kennedy and Hughes may have single-handedly cost the Yankees a post-season berth for the first time since 1993. Fact His team's poor performance may negatively impact free agents in their desire to come to New York, and his choice of manager in Girardi [who I support, by the way] may not be stellar. Debatable. Now...that I've answered your post with logic, let me resort to your level of education so you can understand a little more clearly. Go f*** yourself. How's that for shutting up *******? Now...go and have a nice day.
  18. If the Yankees don't land CC...do you then consider Cashman to be a complete, utter, and abysmal failure? Santana..in my mind...wins the Cy Young if the Mets bullpen doesn't blow it for him. CC may not want to come to NY...but I honestly believe if it was the Yankees who took the Rays to 7 games, he'd have signed already. So...if Cashman strikes out in both a trade and a signing for the best pitcher available in consecutive seasons...will you call for his head?
  19. Kilo...you sound really stupid when you play the payroll card, considering what your team spent $200 million on three free agents in one winter. Then again...I've come to expect this from you. You and Jacko are the same person, just on opposite sides.
  20. Why is this surprising? The Baseball Writers are idiots. I personally think it was Youk without question, but honestly...how can you be surprised? This same group of fools had Edinson Volquez finish 4th this year in the Rookie of the Year voting. Why is this a problem, you might ask? Edinson Volquez was a second-year player this year. http://www.fannation.com/si_blogs/for_the_record/posts/22221
  21. I MADE A TRADE!!!!!
  22. You dumbass...I was the first one to mention he led all players in baseball in pitches seen per plate appearance. So I guess you are right. Since you didn't realize it until I said...you have finally proved how dumb when it comes to baseball you really are. Dude..is the sun always shining on your ass? Why is it that every player the Yankees sign will improve, and every player the Yankees let go will decline? Why is it that every move the Yankees make is a good one? The truth is...due to distractions, media, etc...most players decline their first year in New York. You really need to go to NYYFans. Then you can sit there and come up with trade proposals that will send Cabrera and Coke and Swisher to the Cardinals for Albert Pujols. You are a bore.
  23. You know what the stupidity of this is? People care about Posada and Jeter being able to move to 1B. Hello? Both players would be below-average 1B in offensive production. Why are you saving a premier offensive position for a player that would be below average offensively? It's not like you're saving 1B for Arod. Be serious. If signing Tex means there is no room for Jeter in 3 years...so be it. Same goes with Posada. Any player for that matter.
  24. I want to trade my second TE for a WR or RB. Someone make me an offer that's fair. One for one. Please. Thank you.
