  1. Yes he is, but Swish isnt the consistent force Berkman is, so I think they'll put him there
  2. I truly think that Jake Westbrook will be the next guy to suit up in NY. Hughes will be in the 130-140IP range when Pettitte returns and will probably be ready to move to the pen. Westbrook will be cheap since he's owed so much and the Yanks will have the chance to absorb his salary
  3. y228, Hughes is gonna make mistakes. He got away with one that inning, but overall, his FB is locating and his curve looks nasty
  4. This is a magnificent deal for NY. Berkman will probably slot into the #2 spot in the lineup. He missed a good chunk of April with injury, then struggled for a month, had a good OBP month but no power in June, and now is having a solid power month in July. He's got a .372OBP right now and will be moving to one of the best offenses in the game as well as one of the best parks for lefties in the game. There is a very good chance that Lance breaks his doldrums and comes back as a .900OPS hitter for the Yanks. Right now, the lineup should look like... 1. Jeter SS 2. Berkman DH 3. Teixeira 1B 4. Rodriguez 3B 5. Cano 2B 6. Swisher RF 7. Granderson CF 8. Posada C 9. Gardner LF That is a hell of a lineup, especially with Granderson showing signs of life
  5. Thank you, thank you. Just made too much sense. Financially strapped organization, great hitter in his twilight and probably one last chance to be a significant piece on a world champion.
  6. I have a feeling the Yankees are gonna get Berkman. The Yankees have been quiet ever since they missed out on Lee and Haren. But a Berkman trade is exactly the kind of move the Yankees would make. Get an aging slugger who still has something to prove for a stretch run and then let him walk off into the sunset as a free agent. If they dont get him, then I see them promoting Montero in mid August. The rotating DH is great for a team with old guys when we want to rest them, but it is gonna suck hard when the playoffs come around and Thames is our DH against lefties and Miranda is our DH vs righties. Gonna need to fix that hole Also wouldnt be surprised if the Yankees get in on Westbrook. He was really good against our lineup last week and I am not sure the Yankee brass is sold on Moseley. I also think that the almost moves for Haren and Lee were just as much about strengthening the rotation as they were about moving Hughes back to the pen. Both guys have significant contracts for 2010 to move and would likely cost almost nothing in terms of prospect load. And they are both FAs at the end of the yr.
  7. Also, Taylor Anderson underwent elbow surgery and never played an inning for the Yanks this yr. He is expected to be fine for extended ST next season
  8. The Yankees inked 5th rounder Tommy Kahnle today. Angelo Gumbs took a physical but he said that he hasnt signed. And it sounds like there has been some movement with Segedin. Overall, the Yankees picked a ton of guys with signability issues. We still have 8 unsigned HS draftees selected in the top 20 rounds, and 3 college arms that are very difficult signs in Burawa, Jacob and Segedin. The reports I have been reading is that the Yankees arent gonna sign a lot of players from this draft, but will have an immense number of overslot signees. My guess is that we are able to sign our top 9. I doubt we sign Viramontes or Jacob and am on the fence about Gamel. After that, who knows. The Yankees have a budget, and as the deadline approaches, they typically divvy it up and call unsiged guys with a last ditch effort. That's how they signed DeLuca last yr for 500K right before the deadline. Regardless, I am thrilled with the draft the Yankees put together, especially after having almost 2 months to learn about some of these signability guys. Now I just hope we actually sign them. They really did follow the plan I thought they would after we drafted Culver. Culver was a slot sign and a slot pick. Most picks after that have not been
  9. I have been on a ton of Yankee sites. I've found one that I post at occasionally, but is pretty dead and the scout.com forum is a pretty active one, but it is a pay site. I have visited a lot of other Yankee sites, but all it becomes is a fight.
  10. Yankees win 11-4. Chan Blow Park looked terrible. But Moseley was good, Granderson was great and the team's offense was just stellar.
  11. The Yankees are taking their collective cocks out and pissing on the shithole that is Cleveland. The city is such a dump, it should be downgraded to village
  12. he's looking really good. Very confident
  13. Curtis Granderson is on fire. About damn time. If he plays like he's capable, this will be one hell of a dangerous offensive squad
  14. Montero with a 3 run homer and a sac fly tonight. Romine went deep. Bryan Mitchell and Kyle Turley threw gems
  15. Moseley was better than expected. Shut down the Guardians for 6 innings and NYY are up 3-1.
  16. Their owner is such an idiot. He could have moved Berkman last yr when he could have had a better return. And this yr, he doesnt want to part with Brett Myers. They are still trying to run with their world series team from 4 yrs ago, that is either retired, old, or on another team. They need to rebuild
  17. Sounds like JA Happ is leading the prospect package headed to Houston and all that is needed is for Oswalt to waive his no trade.
  18. Caleb Cotham is out for the yr after labrum surgery. This one sucks cause he was really good
  19. I think I had one thread that I kept updating for 12 straight. The reads are counted, though, and it was obvious that people were viewing
  20. AJ looking good in the blowout. Tons of movement, but it is actually near the plate tonight
  21. The avalanche is coming...
