  1. Trying to get a better deal is standard negotiating. Backing out of an agreed upon deal is deceitful
  2. A trade was agreed upon, then they backed out to get a bigger offer.
  3. Actually, I guarantee you this has nothing to do with Berkman. Having Kearns allows the Yankees to use him in LF vs a lefty and move Gardner to CF to spell Granderson, who has sucked it hard vs lefties over the past 2 seasons
  4. And Kearns actually is hitting righties better this yr
  5. Kearns plays better defense than Thames
  6. Actually, it is Mark Melancon and Jimmy Paredes. Sad to see Melancon go, as I think he will flourish in Houston. He's got all the stuff to be a closer in the game, but he just looked like a deer in headlights when he came to NY. Expect him to be a solid setup man to start in Houston and move to the closers role. Paredes is as stated above, a guy with a ton of potential, but a long way to go
  7. Joba is so f***ing frustrating. He looks damn near unhittable, then he'll groove a FB and give up a homer
  8. Your last 4 posts have been shots at me. It is pretty self explanatory. You are obsessed with me. I am flattered.
  9. If they lose tonight, they are guaranteed to lose a game in the standings to SOMEONE
  10. And that is their prerogative. But if they put Beltre or VMart on the market tonight, they could get a massive haul back.
  11. Of course I have Dipre. Seeing as your only posts now are to snipe at me. Regardless, the sox needed to gain ground against the soft west coast. They didnt.
  12. Let's put it this way. The sox went into a west coast trip needing to gain ground. They won 5 of 9, but the Yankees and Rays managed to increase their lead. On July 18th, the sox record was 52-40 and they were 7 games back in the L column of NY and 4 back of the Rays. Now, they are 8 games back in the L column of NY and 6 games back of the Rays. That's a big deficit, and it will get bigger if they lose tonight.
  13. Hey, you're back. Are you done playing the victim?
  14. That actually wasnt a bad pitch, though. Letter high FB inside is a tough ball to drive.
  15. I agree. The sox are kinda handcuffed. I will tell you this though. I think the sox should think about selling. Really and truly. If they let one west coast series fool them into thinking they're catching NY or TB, then they could lose out on a chance to improve the club in the future.
  16. The rumor is Kevin Russo and Jimmy Paredes. Russo, IMO, needed a change of location. His bat should carry in the NL and he will probably profile as a minus defender at SS or an avg defender at 2b with a league average bat or better at the position. Paredes is the wild card. He's 21 in A ball, but he has a ton of speed (30+SB already) and a lot of potential. He's a 5 tool SS prospect who could make this deal look bad in a few yrs. Or he could completely flame out and make this one of the better deals at the deadline. Regardless, Paredes is somewhere in the 25-30 range in the prospect rankings and Russo is in the 30-40 range. Not bad
  17. He is over the hill, but I do not think he is as bad as he has been thus far.
  18. No, it isnt. But it allows teams to fill glaring holes for the stretch run. NY has filled their biggest hole, IMO, as the DH spot looked like a nebulous void when all players slot into their positions. Their rotation top 4 is good with CC, Pettitte, AJ and Vazquez. Hughes plus Robertson and Marte in the pen is a sufficient playoff bridge, with or without a successful Joba. And the offense from catcher to RF is solid. But having a DH spot that has Marcus Thames or Colin Curtis in it is a pretty easy out against a playoff rotation. Now, it isnt
  19. Exactly. Berkman hasnt been himself this yr, but his .925OPS in July could be a prediction of what is to come
  20. This is a deadline that seems to be very short on impact bats, long on starting pitching and overpriced in the relief market. Berkman is probably the biggest name to move on the offensive end along with Cantu. Oswalt, Jackson, Haren, and Lee have already moved from the SP market and the relief market saw Capps move, and that might be it. The sox dont need a SP. The could really use a RP, but it doesnt look likely. They could use an OF bat, but Ross seems like the only good name, and he isnt even that good. To be honest with you, I just dont see much of a match for them
  21. With Berkman in NY and with the Rays being active in every rumor, this has the makings of a "give-up" kind of deadline for the sox.
  22. Edmonds would be a good bench bat. He probably isnt a guy whose health will allow him to start, but he'd provide some thunder from the bench. If he comes cheap, then he is an improvement
