  1. Depends on where the sox are. They just won two series in a row and face the slumping M's for 4, 3 vs the middling White Sox then 5 vs BAL and 2 vs Cincy. This is where the sox have their best chance to claw back to .500
  2. Yanks score 3 in the first and make it hold up. Booney resting DJ and Stanton worked out. Bats still quiet, though, and Lyles was not great yesterday. Need to get something off this surprising lefty in Zimmerman. They are playing well for sure, but again, they are winning on days they don't hit which is something they didnt do last year.
  3. Bogey and Devers are two different camps. Bogey is going to play the first season under his new contract at 30. He is a career -59 DRS as a SS and already -4 for 2022. This is his last big contract and he wants to be paid like the other prime SS's. This means committing 8-10 years to a player at prime position price for a player who should be moved off the position now. Devers will be 3 years younger in the first year of his new deal and while he's been abhorrent defensively as a 3b, he has lost some weight and has a 0 DRS for 2022. If he can keep the weight off and be a true average 3b, he will have a chance of staying there for the first half of his next contract. Also, a 3b vs a 1b pay wise isnt the same as a SS vs a 1b, so if Devers does fill out and needs to move across the diamond, it isn't that big of a deal. Devers is the more dynamic offensive player, also, and a guy who's got a good chance of being worth the price of the contract through the first half of the deal
  4. When he was 17. I’m so glad social media wasn’t around when I was in high school.
  5. Here is the thing, the Rays scare me. Not because I think they're super talented or whatever, because they remind me of Deadpool. Ace needs TJS, they just regrow another arm that throws lightning. Hitter goes down with injury, they promote some stud who hits .300 while their starter is out. They just continue to know exactly who to replace with who. Talent to talent it isnt close. But the Rays have done it this way awhile now and they are still rolling. Detroit after 40 games had nobody close. I have a feeling that after this cush stretch with 2 vs BAL, 3 vs CWS and 3 vs BAL we should have some distance, but not enough to put on cruise control. Yanks might need to win 105 to take this division
  6. The tigers in 84 went 35-5 to start the year. They put it on cruise control from there, playing .500 baseball the final 102 and then kicked it into high gear again to win the title in the POs
  7. Yes, he should have. Chappy isn’t what he used to be. He’s looked like s*** before and righted the ship, but this time feels different. He’s getting hit now, which he never really does
  8. 27-9 is within our sights. A .750 start is insane and two more to go in Baltimore! And after this series we get 3 vs CWS at home and 3 more vs the O’s. We might be 24 games over .500 by then
  9. Might be time to dfa Barnes
  10. Rain has stopped where I live about an hour from Fenway
  11. Yanks about to reach 26-9. Sevy was dominant. Offense hit a few jacks. Yanks rolling with three more in Baltimore
  12. Another awesome, awesome game
  13. Yanks getting 1 hit, but have 3 runs. Cortes just masterfully dominating hitters.
  14. LOL, that is absolutely hilarious.
  15. Cole had what would have been a 4WAR year in the sprint, a 5.4 WAR season last year and he's off to a good start again this year. To this point, Cole has been worth it. There are anomalous players you give that money and years to. A big, strong, relatively healthy guy like Cole is one of them. He has as good a chance as any to replicate what Scherzer is doing into his late 30s
  16. Eovaldi will get a Robbie Ray style deal, IMO, maybe a little more due to consistency. Ray for 5-$115 mil with an opt out after year 3. I could see Eovaldi getting a 5-$125 mil with no opt out
  17. No it isn't. The thing about Chapman is you kinda know what you're gonna get after the first batter. If he's chucking balls that aren't close, then you gotta pull him. I do anticipate there being a "committee" at some point this season. I think the best option to close is actually Clay Holmes, who has just been death on batters since he got to NY. But Chap is still a great reliever
  18. Keuchel turns back the clock, Chapman again cannot throw a strike. Still nearly walked away with a W. Cannot win them all
  19. If the Sox take 2 vs Rangers, lose 2 of 3 from Astros and go 12-5 over this stretch, they’ll be at .500
  20. Everyone and their mother knows the sox have struggled this year. The funny thing is the reason for their struggles isnt their much maligned staff, it is the fact they're 26 in MLB in runs scored. The big guys are hitting in JD, Devers and Bogey, but the rest of their guys aren't, especially Verdugo and Kike. Eventually, they will hit a bit. Another issue the sox have faced is a tough schedule. They've only faced the Orioles 3 times and have now faced the Twins, White Sox, Angels, Yanks, Jays, Rays and Braves in the early going. They have the Rangers, who they should sweep today and tomorrow and then get to fly back home to face the Astros. Just a grueling stretch. But there is a light at the end of the tunnel One, the top 6 teams in the AL have quite a dichotomy. The Yanks have one of their best starts ever and are currently 12 games up on the sox, but the sox don't need to catch them. The Jays currently hold the 6 spot in the AL and are only 4.5 games up on the sox. And after the Astros series, things get quite considerably easier. 4 at home vs Mariners- harmony knows that his team isnt there yet and the sox find them at a good time 3 away vs White Sox- they still will be without Lynn and Jimenez 5 vs Orioles at home 2 vs Reds at home who are trying to lose 3 in Oakland for a team that is also trying to lose That's 17 games right there where the sox should win at least 10, maybe 12 of them. By the end of that run on June 5th, you will see if the sox are good enough to invest in or will end up being sellers
  21. This lineup still hasn’t seen the best from Gallo or Torres. Who knows what Hicks has left either. I think this Yankee team is going to add at the break, and will likely look to add an OFer. In the POs, Stanton can play RF and Judge can play CF, but if Gallo is still missing everything he’s swinging at and Hicks is washed up, we will need a corner OFer. Interestingly enough, we don’t need power. A table setter would suffice and old Boston friend, Andrew Benintendi might be the guy who fits the bill. Makes a lot of contact, plays GG caliber defense, and is a lefty in YS
  22. Donaldson hit missiles today. One caught by Pollock. Another snagged by Moncada. Then an RBI double and three run bomb. Offense is kicking in now. Yanks miss Giolito this time around for the four game set. We get the shell of Keuchel today before facing Kopech tomorrow. ChiSox still down Lynn and Jimenez for our next rendezvous which comes in the Bronx five days after the end of the series tomorrow. Yanks caught the ChiSox at the right time then see Baltimore for 7 games in the next 10 before finally facing the surprising Rays. Over the next 12 games, we face CWS 5 times and Baltimore 7. Should be able to build on this big lead by the time we’ve got to face the Rays
  23. Bombs away in Chicago. 7th inning up by 4 and the high leverage guys are in. Need to close out 5th win in a row
