  1. There is no way on God's green earth that Bloom would deal anyone for Soto. Soto has one more year of control before becoming the highest paid player in baseball. It is the same as the Devers situation.
  2. Never give up on a 23 yr old with skills. Downs isn't ready and may never be, but it is too early to close that door
  3. Just got home. That’s a bad loss
  4. The O’s are scrappy for sure. Hyde has then playing hard. But it’s inexcusable to lose a 5 game set vs one of the worst teams in baseball when you’re trying to get back into the race.
  5. Verdugo looks like he is inbetween a bit. He loads so late and is so quiet, it makes me wonder if he needs to get moving a little earlier
  6. Hill is a #5. He's started 5 games in May. 3 were really solid. 16IP 10H 4ER 2BB 11K. 2 have been disastrous 5IP 12H 8ER 2BB 5K.
  7. We all knew the sox would hit. But when you look at the sox, they are basically living off a revived Story and ridiculous years from JD, Devers, and Xander. They are going to need some help because JD isn't hitting .380 this year.
  8. Totally forgot about German, who looked nasty in a two inning sim game. He is another swing candidate should he progress
  9. Thing is, Yanks have been in every single game they’ve played. Look at all their losses. I think their worst loss was 5-0, but it was 0-0 in the 8th. That’s why Boone is gonna catch heat when we lose because every game has a path to a victory. What I’d like to see if the Yanks stop using low leverage relievers in high leverage spots. We need to use Castro, Holmes, Peralta in high leverage spots right now. King needs a breather, but he’ll be in that conversation as well. Once Aroldis is better and Loaisiga gets his location down, we will have a death group again at the back end.
  10. Stupidity again. We know Boone is an idiot. Yanks pitching has covered up lots of flaws, but so has the schedule. He needs to establish an order out there as we continue to play contenders over the next month
  11. That was stupid. Literally stupid. He’s got an otherwise rested pen and he goes to the kid. I like Marinaccio, granted, but you don’t set him up for success when you start him in an inning vs the second place team in your own f***ing division with two runners on already.
  12. Expected more after taking the first two, but a split in Tampa without your offense isn’t a bad thing. Don’t agree with going to Marinaccio there, but so be it
  13. He also saved the BP. Akin has been one of their best relievers and he got burned in today’s loss. So have full complement of relievers for the night cap to support the kid
  14. 33-13 heading into Memorial Day weekend. Pitching has been the name of the game, really solid all around. Have shut down the Rays in the first two games and now our ace takes the hill. Need this ridiculous pitching run to continue. Stanton will be back once his IL stint ends. He had some ankle soreness they were overly precautious about. DJ and Hicks should return today. Donaldson will be back soon as well since his shoulder IL can be backdated to day 1 of his COVID complaint. He got a cortisone shot, so they decided to let it simmer a bit before sending him back out there. Offense should be close to full strength especially with speedy Locastro ready to take the field again. On the pen side, Chapman was improving when they put him on the IL. MRI was clean and he’s expected back once allowed. Loaisiga had a clean MR and is expected back shortly after he is allowed.
  15. Think what you wish. I’m just shocked
  16. Wheels falling off here. This is the kind of loss that spurs losing streaks if the Sox can’t come back
  17. What the f*** happened? I turned this thing off at 8-2
  18. Great ABs thus far from Carp. He looks the part
  19. Yanks had a run of cream puffs, but saw the real thing yesterday and took them to task. The Rays played uncharacteristically bad baseball. Wild pitches, errors, etc. But Yanks have 3 more in the dump get 3 at home vs the Angels who don't play well in YS. 3 vs the worst team in baseball at home in the Tigers 3 at the Twins, who we literally own and they pay rent to us in the form of their best players 3 at home vs the Cuds, who suck Yanks will need a big lead by then because a reckoning is coming 3 vs Rays 3 @ TOR 3 @ Rays 3 vs HOU 3 vs A's 1 @ HOU That's a 16 game grind with only one cream puff in there in jOakland.
  20. Lol, they have always allowed the stache. Look at those 70s-80s Yanks. Catfish, Goose, Mattingly, Rickey, etc. They all had stache's.
  21. Players with more than 5 years of service time have the right to refuse an optional assignment
  22. Wish I could have timed the market as well as I timed this post. Since this post, the sox are 9-3. I looked at the schedule and the softies aren't stopping for awhile You've got 5 at home vs the Orioles. With a DHer in there, the sox SHOULD win 4 of the 5. You've got 2 at home vs the Reds. You do get their best pitcher and their brightest prospect, but that team is actively trying to suck. Should sweep Then you go on a west coast trip. 3 in Oakland. 3 at Anaheim. 3 at Seattle. Should go 5-4 at minimum because the M's and A's suck, but Anaheim at home could be tough Then you get the A's for 3 at home. Should take at least 2 of 3. You get the Cardinals at home for 3, which will be tough, but should win the series. Then you play the worst team in baseball at home in the Tigers and then play the s***** Guardians at the mistake on the lake. If the sox play reasonably well, they should win 6 of their next 7, and 19 of their next 28 games. After this stretch, it is a hell run. Jays, Cubs (reprieve), Rays, Yanks, Rays, Yanks, ASB, Jays. In terms of slant, everyone knows I am a Yankee fan. And everyone should know by now that I do NOT want the sox to be cellar dwellers this year in particular. I want the sox to be good enough to contend for a PO spot so Bloom doesn't get the chance to cash in on Bogey, JD, Eovaldi, Kike, etc.
  23. He's an absolute gem. Once he added a couple mph and really separated his cutter from his 4 seamer, he's been untouchable. His cutter is almost like a slider, but cutters arent thrown with a flick of the wrist like sliders are. There's no red dot that you'd otherwise see when a breaking ball is thrown. But, since there's no flick of the wrist, cutters often just move laterally as they're cut off the finger by throwing them in a hard downward fashion, but Cortes' cutter drops a lot. One other thing about a cutter is that since you arent breaking your wrist, they are easier to command. He is throwing a cutter a la Mariano back in the day locating it exactly where he wants to. Add in the arm angles. He throws over the top, 3/4 and even sidearm when he wants to. Add in the 4 and 2 seamers. Add in the change and curveball and you've got angles, speeds, break, etc that he can command to both sides of the zone. He has been filthy because he has had to continuously reinvent himself and master new pitches just to survive. Add in the bump in velo and all that work is paying off
  24. He can be sent to the minors with his consent. He’s have to be subjected to waivers, but nobody is claiming him. You can make up an IL stay for anything. The players won’t agree to that, though, because you never have to reactivate the player.
  25. Just stomped the Rays. What’s the excuse now?
