  1. When Pedroia signed, he took a discount. In retrospect, he was vastly overpaid. But if he wanted to go to the market at the time he signed his contract, he’d have made a lot more money
  2. Highly unlikely he sees $300 mil. It’s entirely related to his age. People aren’t paying players into their 40s anymore. But the AAV has gone higher for sure. I can see a 7-$38 or 8-$35 as the cap now
  3. TB and Toronto losing. Bout to head to Minnesota with 7 and 8 game leads respectively in the division. They get 3 at Minnesota then 3 at home vs the Cubs before their meat grinder schedule opens up
  4. They won today with situational hitting and good baserunning
  5. He’s got zero power. But he moves runners when need be, can get on base, makes contact and can steal.
  6. I’d challenge that IKF is not a black hole. He has absolutely no power, but he makes contact, takes extra bases on the base paths and is on pace for 22 steals and 85 runs from the bottom of the order. He’s a great add to this lineup that was all or nothing. Higgy is now the backup. Trevino is hitting very well. But I do not even consider getting another catcher which all the NY publications are predicting. We are finally seeing what a year without an atrocious defensive shitbag behind the plate looks like, and it might set records Gallo hit a big homer today, but he’s been awful. Hicks has also been awful. Marwin is a great guy to have on this team as he’s versatile. We do need to bring in another left handed OFer who can hit for average. That shouldn’t be too hard to find (Beni).
  7. Skubal will be there for sure. He just won't start.
  8. Nesty’s ERA is lower than all of them, although Skubal’s WAR is higher. That being said, nobody is going to vote for Skubal as he’s pitching for an awful team while Nesty is pitching for the Yanks who happen to be best in baseball
  9. And leading the charge is Nesty who should be the all star game starter, granted Martin Perez is giving him a run for his money
  10. 36IP 2ER last 5 starts. Insane
  11. Cashman finds these guys seemingly every year. Some veteran who has fallen off who has their last gasp of productivity in a Yankee uni
  12. That Carp guy is putting in work
  13. FYI, f*** Apple + games. Cole throwing a perfecto through 4 and I cannot watch it
  14. He's been on an LOA since we got him.
  15. Bloom was brought to Boston to operate akin to what he did in Tampa. Except instead of helming an up and coming team with a deep farm and limited long term commitments, he got a team full of overpaid and underperforming players with a totally dead farm. Developing a Rays plus approach is possible (look at LA), but it takes time to implement
  16. Great games, but man that Gallo has got to go
  17. Carp said he remade his swing. Went to the minors only because the home park was in his town of residence. He went to the minors, crushed, but didn’t have a path to PT. Cashman was scouting him from day 1 this year and that scouting has paid off

  19. Not even a little. This Sox team is a watered down team that’s headed for a sub .500 season. What I’m fearful of is Bloom’s ability to win trades
  20. Quarter Pole update, top 100 prospects #5 Anthony Volpe- great speed but big slumps have his OPS around .700 and his BA at .203. Starting to show signs of breaking out #54 Oswaldo Peraza- solid SB numbers, 5HR, but slumping offense. Great glove, though, and is one MIF injury from a promotion #55 Jasson Dominguez- really hot May has his OPS over .800 as a 19 yr old in long season. Should be in Hudson Valley by year's end #88 Austin Wells- Absolutely demolishing the ball in A+ ball. OPS over 1.000 with 9 steals. He is also showing he has the athleticism to stick behind the plate. Jury is out on if he can, but if he does, he will be a top 10 prospect #90 Ken Waldichuk- Promotion to AAA didn't phase him. ERA sub 2, K rate around 14 per 9. Not sure why he is so low, but good chance he is in the bigs shortly
  21. Because it is not his MO. He is not a Dombrowski clone who wants to accumulate all the best talent in the world regardless of cost. He wants a deep roster with a deep farm that can handle losses due to injury or ineffectiveness.
  22. Devers will get dealt, IMO. I am pretty sure on this and I am almost certain it will happen before opening day 2023. Players garner the most return when there is a full season or more left to control. Honestly, I think the sox are gonna get a haul of prospects for him. Bloom wants a blank slate. Also, for JD, I can see him going to TB a la Cruz from last year. Possible return Curtis Mead plus some lower level prospects. If the sox want to go pitching, Taj Bradley might be an option
  23. Being a fan of the team outstrips being a fan of the player, at least as you get older. Children get attached to players, adults love watching the titles If I was a Sox fan, I’d be intrigued by what Bloom can do. He is a master trader and will be given some prime pieces to sell off
  24. I had the path to relevance thread where the sox went 9-3 and then faced cupcakes for 7 games. In the first 6 of those 7 games, they are 2-4. I am reading a lot of tear down comments, so why not direct them here. If the sox were to tear it down this year and deal off their soon to be FA's or guys with one more year of control, what would they get? I just put on record that the Sox could trade Xander to St Louis for Ivan Herrera (MLB#98, StL #4) plus 2-3 other prospects I also think the sox would deal Devers to SF for Luciano (MLB #8, SF #1), Harrison (MLB#44, SF#2) and 2 more prospects. Sox could trade Vazquez to SD for 2-3 prospects. None in the top 100. Sox could deal Eovaldi to Milwaukee for Joey Wiemer (MLB #81, MIL #2) plus 2-3 more prospects
