  1. Another thing to add here is the Yanks and Sox were the FIRST ones to be caught and it was before the playoffs. After their back and forth, EVERY TEAM was warned. Those that continued we punished severely.
  2. Would like to see the letter for sure.
  3. With all these guys, it is a crap shoot. Maybe Bloom is right. Here is the interesting thing about Bloom. His drafts have been so-so. It is his own system evaluation that led him to be labeled a genius. He knows his own players inside and out and knows the EXACT minute to deal them. He maximizes value, almost always wins his trades and then takes the assets obtained and deals them for even more once their value peaks. BTW, nobody is bitching about losing Mookie Betts now, are they? The sox lost Sale for the year and may only be playing 60 games this year before woefully fading and ending the year. Heck, Bloom even picks his pandemics right. If there was ever a tank and reset year, it is this one
  4. Beck Way for the Yanks. Like the pick. Second time in last 3 yrs that we selected the top JuCo player (Josh Breaux in 2018). Gonna try him as a starter. Fastball-changeup guy. Good value here
  5. Don’t like the Sox first rounder. Love the third rounder. Seems like a punt on the 4th rounder. Their first rounder and fourth rounder should be well undershot to sign Jordan. Jordan was hitting 500 foot bombs as a 13 year old
  6. Sox snag Jeremy Wu-Yelland. He’s a lefty reliever with power and poor control. He’s a true reliever. He was not ranked by BA. I wonder if they are saving cash with picks 1 and 4 to pay for pick 3
  7. Trevor Hauver 3rd rounder from ASU. Batted after Torkelson. The guy can mash. He’s more athletic than Wells and will be developed as a 2b, but played COF as a Sun Devil. Again, weird change of Yankee philosophy. We had been going athletes and college arms in the top 10. Now we’ve gone two guys who have great hit and power tools without any chops defensively. I love it. Have bat, will play
  8. Love their third rounder. Blaze Jordan, what a name. HS bomber, was hitting 500 foot dingers as a 13 yr old. Was squishy, had to lose weight, and K’d a lot against older competition the year prior, Jordan is one of the youngest players drafted as he re-classified to this year. He’s only 6’2” and is expected to be a 1b almost exclusively due to his lack of athleticism. Callis had him going in the supplemental round. He’s a beast, who if he can make more contact, will hit a whole shitload of homers
  9. We always seem to pick the well rounded player in the first round who doesn’t have enormous baseball skill. I want power or insane contact skill from a hitter or power and insane movement from a pitcher. I’m glad we got a big bat here
  10. I have never been a big fan of the projection middle infield HSer. They fit in 3 categories. They’re either 5 tool studs who go top 10, really amazing offensively and they’re not really middle infielders, or defensive whiz’s with a lagging bat. This kid isn’t the first category as we know. Maybe he works out. Maybe Bloom sees things differently. But this looks like a reach where some more upside or more polished players were available. For the first time in awhile, I like our first rounder better than the Sox.
  11. Only 3 picks this year due to stupid COVID 19 and after the Yanks signed Cole. So pick 1 is Austin Wells. For those of you who have seen my draft recaps the last few years, you know I didn’t like the last two first round selections. They were “sum of their parts” guys who needed the bat to rise to be a starter. Well, I LOVE this pick. This guy can absolutely rake. He’s probably not a catcher due to a below average arm for the position, but he’s athletic and will likely be a corner OFer or 1b. It’s really hard to train up an athlete and teach them to hit. It’s way easier to fit a masher into another position, especially when they’re a good enough athlete to be average at a few positions that aren’t necessarily defensively crucial. The comp is Schwarber, although a bit more of an athlete. A lefty power stroke added to a system really devoid of big power beyond a couple guys.
  12. Bloom does things differently. This is a weird draft pick here. They might have been able to get him in the third round. But my bet is they got a nice below slot deal and will reach a bit in rounds 3-5 with overslot guys. Otherwise, this makes no sense.
  13. The most racially segregated city I have ever been in was Syracuse. Everything south of Salina St was minority housing/business and everything north was white housing/business. It was absolutely crazy how the demarcation was so abrupt
  14. With all that is going on in the world, we need baseball. The players and the owners need to come up with something that they can both agree on quickly and get the f*** back to work
  15. As bombastic as the red headed boyfriend can be, he is usually spot on when he makes these "predictions". My bet is he was told what the plan would be barring a miracle Red Sox half season
  16. And I know the MLB wants teams in their own parks, etc, but that’s a f***ing stupid idea. I’d have each park and ST facility be options and rotate around based on disease prevalence. Right now, middle of nowhere Arizona sounds appealing
  17. There’s no guarantee we have a normal 2021 either. MLB is doing what it can to keep interest in it. Of the big 4, MLb is the one that’s losing market share. The others are all growing. So to have a summer without baseball would be devastating to its marketability long term. On the flip side, if baseball is back and can have the entire sports scene to itself, it just might help the populous and it should increase its marketability. Also, if the big 4, it’s literally the only game that can safely distance. Make the strike zone automated and push the HP ump back 6 feet and the closest players will get is at the plate and when there’s a tag play in the field. If baseball doesn’t find a way to do this, they’re gonna die
  18. Not surprising at all. He was a drunk womanizer
  19. I’m terribly perplexed by Gettleman for the Giants. He said he didn’t get any good offers for the 4th pick. He took a guy who was mocked in the late teens to twenties at number 4. Any deal that had him drop back to say 10 was going to allow them to get their man. ANY deal was worth it. You’ve got four franchise quality LTs in the first round, but with 2 QBs that you know were coming off the board, you had the opportunity to fall back and add to the draft capital. Gettleman has never once dropped back in a draft. He does draft well, so maybe Thomas ends up being a franchise LT, but his lack of ability to manage draft equity hurt us again. Last year, same thing. Daniel Jones at the 6th pick. Jones looks the part of a franchise QB, but nobody had him going top 20. Drop back, gain some picks and still get your man. I do love the second rounder. McKinney should have gone mid first round and they just got their franchise SS. Julian Love, from ND, who they got in last years draft has also been converted to free safety and played well there as a rookie. These two look the part of a dynamic safety combo. Peart from UConn is a massive human who they say is good in pass protection but timid in the run game. Maybe he ends up as a starter long term, but he’ll give us some depth and an option should Solder sucking ass again this year Again, the personnel selected is not the issue with Gettleman. It’s his inability to understand that you can get your man later and add to your pick selection
  20. He's a Giant. GMen go O line and safety. Love the safety pick.
  21. The Giants has the draft by the balls. 1-3 set up perfectly. You KNEW the next two teams were going QB. How did you not fall back? You had four tackles that were highly rated and you selected the RT from Georgia who was the fourth one rated. God I hope Gettleman is right, but he played that horribly
  22. f***ing giants
  23. Hadn’t been able to respond due to other craziness, but it’s great to talk baseball again, even if it’s a cheating scandal. Sounds mild, but it’ll always be tainted. Outside of complete vindication, it’ll be tainted. Steroids taints the player. Cheating with pitch sequence relay taints the team. It’s the way it is
  24. Still punished. Still illegal. 2018*
