  1. Everyone gets faked out. Not saying he did, but he also didn’t allay any fears with the diagnosis.
  2. Final diagnosis: Flexor strain What’s a well known fake out for a UCL year? A flexor strain
  3. Disagree. Is JDM likely to surpass his current AAV? No. But after 2020, JDM goes down to his final 2 yrs $38 mil and he still gets a $2.5 mil kicker if he opts out. So can he get more than $35.5 mil guaranteed on the open market? If he puts up another .900+ OPS season, I’d say it’s pretty likely he could score a 4 yr $60 mil deal. As a 33 yr old, that’s securing an extra $24.5 mil of guarantees. These guys start to look at guaranteed money over AAV at that point
  4. Absolutely. But persistent pain in these athletes warrants exploration
  5. This goes from fishy in 2019 to downright comical in 2020. Persistent pain is a reason for arthroscopy. Sometimes the ligament looks inflamed on MR but when you get in there it’s torn
  6. And f*** u too, in the nicest manner possible
  7. I am wondering if the sox doctors are recommending surgery and Andrews isn't. There is a bit of a bias there for Andrews since he recommended the course of action and has now wasted 7 months of recovery time if he changes his recommendation
  8. Sale going for a third opinion.
  9. You’re so funny. I’ll remember this post when we clinch the division in early september
  10. He’s the perfect patsy for a rebuild
  11. ERod had a healthy 2020 but he’s got some injury issues. Perez and Eovaldi are made of glass. You’ll likely be down to 1 or 2 starters
  12. If we go 12-7 or 15-4, it doesn’t really matter. Sox have to worry about the sox
  13. The article I read said they wanted to ax DD before ST of 2019
  14. Eovaldi has tantalizing stuff and he has individual months where he’s unhittable. If he can stay healthy enough and has his average April and May but has one of his unhittable months in June, he could be dealt with no strings attached. Some contender would be willing to have him for free
  15. I avoid watching ST games in their entirety. Half the time, the pitchers are working on something. Hence, you could be a guy like ERod get demolished if his intent was to work on his change and throw it 70% of the time. The only translatable thing (and I've said this for 16 years on message boards) is the velocity of pitchers come the final 2 weeks of camp. That is when they start to let it loose. You see a big velocity dip at that time and you get worried about a pitcher's health
  16. Bloom needs a high draft pick or two plus a selloff to build what he wants
  17. This was expected, but it also has to be the final signal of a rebuild. No point in rushing this. Assuming Sale needs TJS (he likely does) then you won't see Sale back til midseason 2021 and likely wont see him back to his location and power until September (18 months for most starters). So that kills 2020 and 2021. Sell off or shrewdly extend all parts that aren't here for 2022. ERod gets an extension offer. If he doesn't like it, you're dealt. JD, JBJ, Pillar, etc, gone. I see if I can pump and dump Eovaldi. Vazquez could be an intriguing talent on the move as he is 29 now and is a FA after 2022. Bloom is a value guy. He built the best farm in baseball AND a playoff team at the same time by throwing sentimentality out the window and getting more value than what he gave up. I am betting the 2022 team is going to look vastly different
  18. There was a rumor that the sox wanted to fire Dombrowski after winning the WS because of all the bad debt he put on the team in the WS aftermath. That tells me that Henry is an idiot if he gave free range to DD to spend like a drunken sailor while he was drunk off a title. They thought it would be bad PR if they fired him right after a title, but so be it. My bet is Chaim Bloom had many, many suitors. I anticipate he was able to push Henry into agreeing on a rebuild. There is no 2 ways about it. Henry divulged Sale's damaged arm and Bloom clearly saw the dead farm and the overbloated payroll and told Henry outright that he needed to rebuild and he wouldn't sign on the dotted line unless Henry agreed to it. Henry may have already been in that camp with his prior comments about getting under the LT. With Sale likely down for the season and the rotation looking like the 3 frequently injured stooges, there is no prayer of contention
  19. Guys, I’m just reminding you all of my position when it was announced Sale was getting PRP. You don’t have the docs invade your pitching elbow unless there’s more than “inflammation”. Sale was incredibly secretive and the team announced it was just inflammation without releasing anything more. My bet at the time was that Sale had a partial tear and elected for non operative management. Some get by without surgery but with diminishing velocity (Tanaka), others fail and need the procedure (Garrett Richards comes to mind).
  20. Reported soreness in his most recent session
  21. Shockingly, the docs diagnosed Judge with what I suspected. Rest the guy, make sure he’s right. Might not be terrible if we can keep him from cold weather to start the year
  22. Maybe that’s true. Or maybe the cheating Astros had something to do with it
  23. So KLaw actually looked beyond AA for once. He’s ranked the Yanks as the 6th best farm in baseball despite only having 3-4 top 100 prospects (based on multiple rankings, Dominguez and Garcia are on all lists with some lists including Gil and others including Schmidt). He notes that the Yanks have prospects in short season that teams are asking for in deal, and they’ve got a deep stable waiting for development outside of the top 100. Cabello, Pereira, Chirinos, Garcia, etc etc etc. The pitching is very deep throughout and the system will show their depth this season with the injuries out of the gate. I’m surprised since typically KLaw avoids anything below AA, but since teams are using more analytics and are more willing to deal for an analytics driven low minors darling over a production based upper minors player without the same measurable, it was a much needed thing. The point of these rankings is to determine which teams have the biggest cache of good players at their disposal for either deals or promotions and not including younger players makes rankings useless
  24. They are floating that the Yanks would move Andujar for Matz. That's just f***ing stupid. No way I do that
  25. A healthier Sale would do wonders to prod Henry into spending for 2021 rather than go through a rebuild
