  1. I think the Sox drubbing of the Yanks last night was a nice start at retaliation...and another win tonight would be enough. After that I'd prefer they tell the media that we're playing well right now...we don't really care to respond to his lack of class/professionalism in a way that might take the focus off what we're trying to accomplish as a team. He's shown a tendency to play that way...it'll probably take care of itself at some point...something along those lines. Don't let FukRod derail the train, boys.
  2. I see two lefties in a row. But SOLID? Where?
  3. tear 'em up tonight, J-man: http://digitalderek.typepad.com/sawxblog/photos/2006/tavarez_kruger.jpg hey Sox, let's kill the Moose: http://www.ridingthespine.com/gallery/alberta/fullsize/F1000002.JPG
  4. ...was the guy standing in front of the kids who, at the end of the clip, keeps giving them the pickle-smoocher motion and seems to be pretty damn experienced at it...in fact he looks like he really enjoys being on the giving side of that equation.
  5. There are bad fans of all teams, no doubt. But the fact that there are multiple videos on youtube where Yankee "fans" are parodying their favorite Village Street tune says it all...I guess this is an everyday affair in the toilet? I scrolled through some of the other vids all dedicated to the depraved Yankee "fans" and was particularly struck by the Yankees version of Sweet Caroline...performed behind the RF grandstand. Getting rowdy behind the RF Grandstands? Oooooh...that takes balls.
  6. The Yankees...height of hypocrisy. Seeking to void Giambi's contract again? 2002...41 HRs, .314 BA...'roids not a problem 2003...41 HRs, 107 RBIs, .412 OBP...'roids not a problem 2004...played in 80 games, 12 dingers...let's void his contract 2005...32 HRs, hit .271, maybe we'll keep him 2007...6 hrs through 5/21/07, OBP is under .400, and he's opened his mouth...let's void the contract. what a joke.
  7. Well, they still have the President's Trophy and last years Coach of the Year ti be proud of. Lindy Ruff..heh, heh, couldn't get it done as a player, can't get it done as a coach.
  8. f***in' media circus is what this is. The guy hardly said anything, even provided a disclaimer saying "You guys asked my opinion about it and I gave it," and went on to say it wouldn't be a problem, they all care about winning foremost. Perhaps the media AND FAN focus should be on the fact that the $200m+ Yankees are underachieving to epic proportions, as opposed to focusing on blowing one guy's fairly innocuous comments out of proportion.
  9. Stallone in the mojo-pic? Didn't he just got busted for bringing HGH into Australia? Oh wait, this is MLB, good choice, I see the tie-in now.
  10. I just saw the Pronger hit on Holsmtrom...what an idiot, coming up with the arms like that and hurting your team out of your own frustration. He's lucky he didn't get more than 1 game.
  11. Buffalo was outshot last night, no? 33-22? Goaltending was the difference.
  12. I love the aura of Fenway, and I still fondly remember going there when I was 7 and seeing the place for the first time...back in the days of Yaz, Reggie Smith, Jim Lonborg, Rico, etc. That said: Fenway is a s*** hole. If they were building a new park in Boston I'd want to be the one to push the button that starts Fenway's implosion. Seats were made for 1918-sized people...they don't work anymore. Sight lines suck...i.e. right field grandstand faces centerfield...not smart design. Too small, tix are hard to come by. Parking is a joke.
  13. I saw an article about the 1978 season and was curious about how each team performed over the course of the remarkable comeback by the Yankees that year. On July 18th the Yankees were 47-42...on Sept 10th they were 85-56. Over that stretch the Yankees were 38-14, a .731 winning percentage. Talk about hot. Meanwhile the Sox were 2 games under .500 (25-27) over that stretch. I'd submit that it was more the Yankees incredible run that was responsible for the comeback as opposed to a Sox "choke". Let's also not forget that the Red Sox won their last 8 games to force the playoff game and ended with a 99-63 record prior to the playoff game loss. By the way, the writer claimed the Yankees won the game on Dent's homer....forgetting, apparently, that Jackson's blast to centerfield provided the ultimate margin of victory.
  14. I am loving this series, Buffalo is getting badly outplayed, despite their President's Trophy and last year's Coach of the Year. By the way, I hate Lindy Ruff.
  15. I was surprised because Ottawa historically finds a way to lose in the playoffs. They've been a strong cup contender in a number of seasons only to falter...I half expected it again vs. Buffalo, especially since their goaltending can be spotty at times. So while I agree that they are a good team, I just felt Buffalo would really take it to them..glad that hasn't been the case. I can't stand Ruff.

  17. Anyone watch the Sens game last night? I missed it, although I am thrilled (and surprised) by the result. Just curious, if you watched it, how was the hitting and instensity and did the Sens take it to them physically, too?
  18. I'm a bit torn on this one. It's nice having a team that is willing to outspend 28 other teams, it absolutley positions them to be in the playoff hunt most years. Then again, one must remember that the Sox spending is neccessitated to a large degree by the spending of a divisional rival who is going to outspend you by 40% (in a year following big Sox spending) or, possibly much more, as we've seen in prior years. Selfishly, I'd like to see a cap...somewhere in the neighborhood of $145m or so.
  19. Acknowledgement. Good for you GOM.
  20. Very well said ORS.
  21. I'm straying a little off the Schilling focus here, but... I couldn't care less who holds the record for most HR's in a career. I also don't care who has the most K's, wins, etc. The name on front is what concerns me. The fact that Bonds is chastised more than anyone else is idiocy. Why bash him over all others...because he's approaching some milestone that too, too many people considered "hallowed"? (as another poster called it). f*** that, there are cheaters up and down every line-up in baseball and I suspect there have been for many more years than we realize. Was it Papi who said something to the effect of "what...Barry's performance enhancing drugs were better than anyone else's s***?" Bonds is a baseball great...an immortal....with or without PEDs. I don't need to know how many career HRs he hit to know that, same as I don't need to recite stats for Aaron, or Ruth, or Williams, etc. to illustrate their greatness. I think Bonds is an arrogant scumbag, but I couldn't care less what he did or didn't put in his body. This "I won't be there to witness it because he cheated" crap is sickening and hypocritical. Think the commissioner and other MLB officials never had a suspicion that its players were using? With balls flying out of parks at record rates, players half-swings going 400 feet, no-names hitting 30-40 a year then suddenly falling off, suspicious injuries occuring? I suspect MLB suspected all along, but it was all good for league revenues, so they looked the other way. Then things got ugly and they made certain players scapegoats. Here's my take on Bonds...I won't be watching because I don't f***in' care.
