  1. A quick homestand versus the NL West and I'm thinking the Sox come up big over these 6 games. Tonight's matchup: Cook (4-2) vs Wakefield (5-7) Time for a home COOK-ed victory, I think. We're feasting on the Rockies tonight boys, and Manny will be firing-up the grill: http://www.auctionbytes.com/cab/abn/y07/m03/i21/images/ebay_ramirez.jpg
  2. Wow, Jacks...4.5%? I'm underwhelmed.
  3. Let's go boys, time to start flying again.... http://graphics.boston.com/images/bostondirtdogs//Headline_Archives/BDD_N611JW_airlinersnet.jpg And please...no D-Backs on this plane...In the immortal words of Neville Flynn: "enough is enough! I have had it with these motherf***ing snakes on this motherf***ing plane! "
  4. Clemens is a mercenary and self-indulgent/self-important **********. He's the Carlos Santana of baseball. Carlos: "What? Rob Thomas is hot right now? I'll get him to sing on a song where I play my same boring solos as usual. Wait, Michelle Branch? Yeah, I'll record with her. I'll break out the licks from the Zebop album and re-use them. Did someone say Chad Kroeger? Huh, Shakira? s*** this is easy...play the same stale crap and ride the coattails of others yet come out looking like a f***ing genius!" Sorry, XMRadio just had Mr. Carlos "It's time to f***ing unite as a planet" Santana on two stations back to back and I couldn't take it.
  5. Come to think of it, Adam, you are right. I hadn't noticed really but he DOES need to start hitting. I hope he will, don't you?
  6. Wait, is this a pic of Drew at his last gynecological exam? OK, anyway, I hope the guy stays healthy and turns things around, it would be a huge lift to the team.
  7. Some folks, maybe. But when FO agreed to pay $70m for this bitch, many were immediately and vocally critical of the deal, because of his history...for those posters, there is nothing hypocritical about commenting now.
  8. I love Lamp. awesome movie Jacks. One of my favorite lines.. "I'm Brick Tamland. People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks. Years later, a doctor will tell me that I have an I.Q. of 48 and am what some people call mentally retarded."
  9. Ouch, I got a paper cut.... http://www.ocregister.com/newsimages/sports/2006/07/22_dodgers_med.jpg
  10. I think you can discount the comments of the individual who started this thread, Gom. He speaks for...uhhhh..I'm not sure who he speaks for... but he's far from the voice of RSN.
  11. I saw video of the post-game interview with ARod. I didn't believe a word he said. Even his "I could care less" what the other guys think I wasn't buying. It happens to him over by the opposing dugout? Not sure I buy into that either, but that said... I don't have a huge problem with what he did, the Toronto players have to make that play, regardless of what was said. Further, if they have an issue with it I'd prefer to see them take care of it on the field as opposed to whine about it publicly (of course the media made sure that any Jay's players' comments on the incident received lots of attention). If "the code" truly is that you don't do what ARod did, then let ARod know you'll be taking care of business...and follow through.
  12. Another once promising career gets flushed down the toilet known as "Havana North".
  13. But will Steinny? And will the rest of the Yankee fanbase? I agree that the way to go is to set the team (any team) up for another run that'll last a number of years. The patching and filling of holes with high-priced talent in an effort to stay on top has its limits as we're seeing now. But does NY have the patience? Personally...I hope NOT.
  14. I used to get them and I used my Dad's codeine...not "what the Dr. ordered" but fkn worked for me!
  15. Fred: I look at it another way. Prior to his most recent start, Wake had 10 starts. His IP were: 6,7,7,6,5 1/3, 7,7,7,5,7 He averaged about 6.5 IP per start prior to the 3 2/3 debacle against the Yanks. Can you honestly say there's anyone waiting in the wings who'd have done better? As average/inconsistent as he's been, he gives the Sox a 50/50 shot and more importantly he isn't killing the BP start after start. To me, in May'June...that's what counts right now.
  16. I'd really like to see the guy get healthy, stay healthy and succeed here. It'd be great for the Sox, great for Drew and make the FO look like they knew what they were doing all along. it's a win-win-win...but I don't see it happening. Remember the Sox gave Renteria $10m per and he underachieved...but they were able to move him by eating some salary? Think that'll happen with Nancy Drew? Assuming he continues to be hurt or just plain suck, it'd be nice to be able to get out from under the contract...but given his legacy to date, that is a highly doubtful opption. Who's gonna want him? This f***er better produce or there'll be serious egg on a number of faces.
  17. hey, hey, hey, Sean. Rerun? Nice. Betcha Shirley Hemphill has a bigger set of balls than this self-indulgent prick.
  18. On the one hand, he's doing something to try and help his team win...on the other hand, baseball players have certain codes they expect one another to adhere to. This should be allowed to play out on the field...not in the media. So if the Jays have an issue with it, let them deal with it on the field...heh, heh, heh.
  19. aw, c'mon ARod isn't that bad...in fact he apologized to Pedroia in his own special way...check this out: YouTube - Alex Rodriguez and Dustin Pedroia
  20. Plus English people have really bad teeth... In Nebraska, however, they don't have teeth.
  21. I don't think Nancy Drew has bad THAT bad in the field...in fact I've seen some pretty nice plays, ones that could've been difficult but were made to look easy. Haven't seen enough of Abreu to make the comparison. I'll grant you this...Drew at $14m per for another few years is frightening if he continues to perform at this level. In fact even he performs at his career average levels, $14m was too much, IMO. So comparisons aside, I didn't understand the signing then and have seen nothing to prove my concerns were wrong.
  22. IMO, no lead is safe. This ain't over by a long shot as I suspect if the Yanks smell any chance of playoffs they'll pull off a trade where they're eating the salary of some player and thus have to give up little to get him. When the dregs of the league become sellers I expect that the Yankees wil be buying, and will effectively improve their team.
  23. Paul Pierce has to be twisting in agony right about now.
