  1. Dustin Pedroia and Kevin Youkilis are among the top 30 players in all of baseball. People who call them anything but impact players are the same people who question whether or not Jason Bay can hit cleanup.
  2. Really? Youkilis isn't better than Tino f***ing Martinez, and JD Drew isn't better than Paul O'Neill? Yeah, I know he punched a few water coolers, but holy s*** there might not be another player more overrated than Paul O'Neill. The Yankees won because they had awesome pitching and a solid offense. The Sox have the same. Stop talking out of your ass.
  3. So essentially continue to fling crap against the wall and hope it sticks? That strategy worked real nice this season.
  4. As far as the whole Holliday v Bay debate, I think that Holliday is the better player and will be the better fit, but I fear he's going to command a Teixeira-like contract and Boras will force the team that signs him to overpay for him. I don't think either sign with their respective teams during the exclusive window, as both know the value of their contracts could be tied to the other. I'd like to see the Sox add Holliday personally, but Bay might be the safer play because Boras can drag out negotiations to the bitter end, and if the Yankees or another team swoop in and drastically overpay for Holliday/Bay the Sox could be caught with their pants down, a la MT last season. They need one to play LF next season. I don't like the idea of a Drew-Ellsbury-Reddick outfield come opening day.
  5. If Bay's agent is worth a damn there's no way Bay signs before the FA period. Do you think before you hit the submit button?
  6. As I said in the other thread, I'm all for the Sox adding Lackey and signing Bay/Holliday and calling it an offseason.
  7. *chuckle* Someone was going to do it eventually.
  8. And I firmly believe the answer to your question is no. What were the two instances he tried to acquire him? Links?
  9. I think everyone pining for a blockbuster AG/Fielder trade should take a second to think about who the GM is and just how often he makes those deals in the offseason.
  10. I think the Sox can sign both Lackey and Beckett.
  11. I'd be on the sign Holliday/Bay and Lackey bandwagon.
  12. We're going to give our three best prospects to either Milwaukee or San Diego to bring in a LHH first baseman whose power will be suppressed in Fenway? If that's the Sox's plan they could have made something better happen last offseason (I know, dead horse). You're comfortable giving up Buchholz/Anderson/Kelly+ for Gonzalez or Fielder? I'm not. I'd rather go hard after John Lackey and re-sign Bay.
  13. Somebody was going to say it, might as well have been me.
  14. I just did. What did you think about Bay being a cleanup hitter back in May? I bet you thought he was awesome then. Look, I think Bay has his warts, but if you don't think he's a cleanup hitter, a middle of the order impact bat, then I just don't know what to tell you. He's a 30/100 guy. Most teams would KILL to have a guy like Bay hitting 4th for them. It just so happens the Sox have a multitude of other excellent hitters hitting in their lineup as well. And don't give me Bay's slash stats hitting fourth, Bay is who he is and he'd be a 30/100 .900+ OPS guy anywhere you put him in the lineup.
  15. Really? I like you man, but really? On what Earth is a guy who hits 35 HRs and drives in 115 not a cleanup hitter?
  16. I think it's all due to the fact we don't have Manny on our team anymore
  17. No consolation needed. Angels played two good games and had one great inning when it counted.
  18. lol what the f*** is wrong with everyone
  19. Pinning this loss on Papelbon is weak, you know. Although, it makes his decision to not accept a long term contract even more dubious. s*** happens. At least the Pats lost.
  20. I'm with CD, tonight is the season. They win tonight al the pressure goes back to LAA. Step up, Josh.
  21. I'm so tired of hearing about the loss of Manny with evey postseason game. It'd be awesome if we could all just move on from it. I also have a tough time taking anyone whos says Jason Bay is't a true midle of the order hitter seriously. He hit 36 and drove in 115 this season. What more could you possibly want from him? I'll also go on record and say this lineup is better than the 2004 version. Go ahead and look at the lineup we ran outthere if you don't believe me.
  22. Hilarious. My point about Lackey pitching into the 7th held true.
