  1. correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Pedro pitched against Colorado.
  2. I love Pedro, but I have a really difficult time seeing how he shuts down the Yankees. And if by some miracle he is effective, I don't think the sample sze will have any bearing on any contract offers for the Sox or ay other team. Don't underestimate just how much easier it is to pitch in the NL.
  3. You know Pedro set the standard for excellence when you can call his 2004 season mediocre. Well, that, or just be an epic troll.
  4. Saying Coco bitched about his playing time is pretty inaccurate. He was a god soldier for this team when he was here. He had one of the best defensive seasons ever in 2007 and was rightly frustrated when the CF job was given to Ellsbury in the spring of '08 on the basis of 100 or so ABs. He felt he deserved to be a startomewhere and KC jumped at the chance to trade for him. I don't want any part of him now though.
  5. They pretty much dominated from the start of the 2nd, Thomas's s***** goal notwithstanding. I thought Paille looked really good tonight, too.
  6. Really? Everyone? I was thinking only people who are fans of terrible baseball players.
  7. Wow Tim Thomas is so bad. So very very bad. What a weak effort.
  8. Marchand's a f***ing pest, and I love it.
  9. They said he did it in a preseason practice but only recently re- aggravated the injury. The Paille deal makes a lot more sense now. On the surface, that deal looked like a typical Chiarelli head scratcher after a brilliant move to get rid of Chucky, but now it should be OK insurance in the meantime, until they get Lucic and Savard back. Paille's strength is supposedly the PK so we'll see if we can finally stop some powerplays.
  10. Ok, this is funny. Well done, that's how you repond to a troll post.
  11. Couple of great games the last two. Hopefully the Yankees don't recover from the might of Jeff Mathis.
  12. When you spend half of the total free agent dollars spent in the offseason, you damn well better get a return for your investment.
  13. One or two championships later, and it might not make a damn bit of difference.
  14. I'll add my two cents here. If the Sox sign neither Bay nor Holliday it will be 2006 redux, and I think the FO would actually be comfortable with that. They have tons of goodwill built over the two championships since 2007, and I think they would rather stand pat with what they have rather than overpay on a bad contract.
  15. And look where signing the best free agents got the Yanks this season. Oh wait.
  16. Love the Kobasew deal. Time to see if SOB can stick and I'm excited to see Marchand. Wish this happened in the offseason BEFORE losing Kessel, but I digress...
  17. Can't believe I'm even responding to one of das's posts, but the Sox were 4th in payroll this season. The top 3? NYY NYM Cubs Mets and the Cubs both failed to make the playoffs spectacularly. Yankees made the playoffs, however, they should when they spend half of the total dollars spent on free agent contracts this past offseason. $450 million of the roughly $900 million spent this offseason on new contracts. The Sox won 95 games. They made the playoffs. I don't know what more you want from them. They exceeded my expectations this past offseason, for sure. If they stand pat AGAIN, however, next year will be a different story.
  18. We did that this past offseason
  19. How 'bout Theo shows some sack this offseason?
  20. One point that I also think hasn't been touched on enough is the befit of Holliday hitting in Fenway for 81+ games. Stats aside, think of all the dents he'd put into the Monster.
  21. Funny joke from Abraham, but umpires can't work consecutive series anyway.
