  1. The article is a bit unfair simply because even the best farm systems need to have some time to re-tool. There is a lot of potential at the lower levels of the farm system andtheir impact could be felt in a year or two. I also think this article sells Reddick a little short, he could have a large impact next season. By the way, PC, it would be impossible for Lars to make it to the Hall in 2025. Remember, Doji said Lars was going to be a 20x All-Star.
  2. I can't speak for ORS but I don't think he ever said anything about your comment for "working at ESPN", it was more of taking creit for a idea that wasn't yours.
  3. What did Beckett say that was so egregious? I read the article and his comments were very porfessional. Did you want him to throw Varitek under th bus?
  4. Ugh. Exactly the news I did not wanto hear. Depth is nice but how about we go after some quality for a change? I als love the continuous preaching of payroll flexibility. Like last offseason, flexibility doesn't do anything for you unless you use it. Sox seem content on bring Wake back for cheap money and signing a couple of retreads, when they cold sign a guy like Lackey instead.
  5. Example, great post - one minor quibble is comparing Youk and Holliday through their age 28 seasons, Youk got to the bigs later than Holliday did. I'd love to see a comparison of the two for their first thre or four full seasons.
  6. The same Coco who shredded his shoulder this season? Reddick should be the guy IMO.
  7. Well, they botched the Teixeira thing pretty bad last season, I hope they learned from their mistakes.
  8. Pedro? Lowe and Varitek?
  9. Jacko, you're really going to cut ties with Wang, a guy whom you have called a Cy Young caliber pitcher ad nauseam on this board? What a shocker.
  10. The Sox won't rely on Wake to be their #5. It all depends if they want quality, or to save some dough.
  11. Idk, it might be the Soria fanboy in me, but I think Soria is at least comparable to Papelbon....but since Papelbon does it when games matter into October, I'll give him the edge.
  12. Dodgers in 7. Torre & Manny v the Yankees in the WS.
  13. I give Papelbon the edge over Nathan and Soria because he performs in a big market, and in the postseason (this season notwithstanding, and Nathan was worse this postseason).
  14. Name those better. Rivera Nathan (maybe) Soria (maybe) .....
  15. This equation means nothing without context. What's the package you propose for "your big bat"? Let's hear it.
  16. It's the same concerns I shared when they landed Teixeira. Getting a young superstart, a top 5 player at his position, is never good for the Sox if the Yankees land that particular player. Your analysis is pretty much spot on. This is a very salient point and one that I think gets missed quite a bit...in 4-6 years, when ARod and Tex are nearing the end of their deals, they will need to keep that DH spot vacant for them. I don't think it would stop them from comitting long-term to Holliday, though. I don't think signing Bay makes them stupid. I just think they wouldn't be as good as they would be had they signed Holliday. I can't judge the worth without seeing any kind of contract number though....but if you ask me, I think Bay signs for Drew money while Holliday signs for Tex money.
  17. Example, here are the posts Dojji made about Holliday v Bay and their likelihood to replicate numbers year after year.
  18. So, instead of looking at a 162 game sample, you're looking at 11 games? Awesome.
  19. Papelbon had a higher H/9 last season. He also had a higher K/9 this season. This was clearly his worst year, but he's a top 3 closer in the game and one who should be held on to unless the offer was incredible.
